what is a mucus plug everyone is talking about it and it kinda scares me does it hurt?

The mucus plug is kinda like a cork in your cervix...once it has come out which it will either all at once or a little over time you will most likely start to go in labor with in 3 weeks or earlier if your ready..If you happen to be to early then it will probably reginerate and come out again before labor....and no it is not painful it just feels gross...
