im reading alot about birth, and sometimes they mention about the placenta.. they say about 5 minutes to an hour later you give a few pushes and its out.... but is that painful?.. i would imagine it isnt because isnt it really soft and would easily slide out... but ive never done this before so i dont know or not
thanks

Everything that happens after you deliver your child is a blur... you don't even notice when you deliver the placenta.. doc asks you to push, and you do, but you are watching your child the whole time so you are just reacting... I don't remember if it hurt at all, I didn't see it, I just vaguelly remember doc saying to push, and my sister who was there later told me I had a lot of bleeding and that they were ma__saging my belly for a long time to get my uterus to contract.. I don't remember any of that... just remember the sweet face of my new born baby girl.

mama-beans is right..about 5 minutes after my son was born I looked at my doc and said "I feel like I have to push more" and he said "it's ok, I've got your placenta"--it didn't hurt at all, I didn't even push-my body pushed it out. I just remember it being hot and slimy (toomuchinfo?); then the nurses clean you up real quick and you get to hold your new baby!!!

Hey - With the birth of my daughter, after she was born I had a few more cramps..the doctor asked me to give a little push and the placenta came out no problems. Its soft like ya said..no pain whatsoever :)
