I know everyone says your baby will be born when she is ready, well I am 4 days overdue and want to meet her. I have tried everything from walking, s_x, even an enema (do not recommend). I am going to be induced next wednesday but really want to go into labor naturally. I know there is not really a question to this I just need to vent. I had someone tell me the other day that I was being a bad mother by letting the dr induce me only 9 days over, I just walked away for fear I might not be able to control my anger ha. I don't want to be induced, but my mother was 13 days over with my sister and she had ingested meconium and I don't want to get to that point. anyways if anyone has any suggestions on ways to lure her out ha ha let me know.

i was to be induced on monday for i had ruptured my membranes. i went into labor on my own at midnight monday. with my first i went 7 days over due and was going to be induced at 10 days over. things do happen on there own. keep having s_x....as long as your water hasnt started leaking. sperm is a self inducer. gl

I'm sorry steph. I feel like I just want this baby to come too, and I'm still only 38w's. So, I can imagine it's even more frustrating when you're over due. I think your doing the “normal” recommendations, and I can’t really recommend these as I haven’t tried them but here are a couple things I know ppl use. I know some midwives use black or blue cohosh to help induce labor (it's an herb you can get at food co-op. I believe it comes in liquid form and you take a few drops every couple hr’s but I’m not sure on the amount or anything). I don't know if it’s something you should take it w/o talking to your doc or midwife about though (and I believe most doc's wont recommend it as it's an herb, and I don't think it's been studied a lot medically as a labor inducer –if you know a midwife to ask about it though…). There are also a couple pressure pt's that are supposed to help w/ inducing labor. One is in the webbing of you hand between thumb and index finger (it should feel like a sore spot and you just pinch it for a few seconds and then let it go -Repeat). The other one I believe is on the inside of your leg a few finger widths above the ankle bone (look up 'acupressure to Induce labor' on Google). I guess I can't say I'd recommend ppl use these methods w/o consulting a doc. However, personally I would have no problem using the pressure pt's on myself w/o worrying about it -they're pressure pt's, they're not going to harm me or the baby. At the most they'll induce labor and at the worst, nothing will happen. The herb I would probably do more research or talk to a midwife about before I personally felt comfortable using it though. Good luck I hope our babies show up soon.

I no exactly how you feel, I'm due tomorrow I'm only 1 cm dilated. I was having contractions for 15 hrs yday, went to bed and woke up and they've slowed to about 1 an hour. ARGH! I want my baby girl out too, I've tried evening primrose, rasberry leaf tea, s_x and pineapple, nothing works!!!! Their already little rat bags lol. I just don't want my baby on the 30th, MY BDAY!!

How dare some call you a bad mother for having your labor induced .....I'm due today and am already scheduled to be induced on Tuesday... of course I want the water breaking at 3am experience...but I want a healthy baby and mother too...my Dr doesn't like to go to far past 40weeks..and my baby is already pretty big in there...the dr predicts he is 8pds now!!!!!!!!

thanks for all the replys, I am gonna try those pressure points...what can it hurt. I might not be as uptight about this but I haven't even dilated or thinned, it's so depressing to be checked and the doc go oh nothing, I just wana kick him in the jaw ha. I realized last night the main reason I don't want to be induced is because I want to be able to call and wake people up or put a dent in their plans because I go in labor ha, I don't want everyone expecting it, it ruins all the fun ha ha. Anyways to all of us waiting maybe our wait won't be too much longer.

Steph- I have no advice for you... b/c I am right there with you. I can only offer understanding! My due date was 3/23 and it has come and gone and I, like you, have not dialated at all, and cervix is thinning, but ONLY a lil bit. I too feel like kicking my Dr.(he trys to make me laugh though) and says "I'll lie to you if you want me to" (about my progress) So like you, I am just sitting here waiting and it sucks! ;) I can deal with being overdue, but it gets to me when people say"when are you due"....gggrrrr um 2 days ago! So hang in there, I know the feeling of not wanting to be induced, but atleast you have till Wed to go naturally and if not then you'll know that Wed, things will begin to start moving, and your lil girl will be there soonafter. Good luck!

ok, this sounds gross but I have had loose bowel movements since friday night and a lot of contractions...lets hope I am really fixing to get going. The contractions will be regular for about an hour then taper off and then back again so maybe they are gonna get going good after awhile ha. Good luck again to all waiting...I feel your pain ha

I've dilated 1cm, I know it's just 1 but I'm excited I mean I'm 41 weeks pregnant and up til now hadn't done a thing so 60% effaced and 1 cm is great news to me...woohoo

lunamoo - March 27

Going 2 weeks beyond your due date is NORMAL. Anyway, you should read up on the possible risks of induction which can lead to fetal stress and the baby pa__sing meconium. I guess doctors these days pray on desperate mothers and are induction happy. Believe in yourself and your baby and nature will guide you : ) Hang in there, you will see!!

I am not a doctor, so please check with yours before you try this. Since you are overdue, try nipple stimulation. It releases oxytocin which in addition to other things triggers uterine contractions. There is a proper way to do this so look up the procedure. I had a friend who just had DH (TMI?) suck and play with her b___sts and voila', labor started before the next am. She continued to stimulate the nipples while at the hospital and labor took hold. This probably wouldn't work before term, but who knows after term? I must add, ladies, if you are before term, please don't do this, ok? In a normal pregnancy there is no reason to self-induce early and your baby may need to go the full 40 weeks. Best of luck, Steph~

hey, I have been having very strong contractions since 5 this morning, they started 11 min apart and now at 8:30 are around 7 min apart so looks like I'm well on my way....yay

djh - March 27

Wow, Steph, do the nipple stimulation!!! It sounds like the baby's birthday is just about here. Good luck, if you have it tomorrow your baby will share a birthday with one of the little ones in our family!

Wow! My doctor was willing to induce at 38 wks. She says she knows how uncomfortable those last couple of wks. are! inducing is a smart little tool that is becoming a more popular procedure! and u are right about the meconium, i would definitely want her sooner than later. It's just a less chance of any complications! we love family but you know everyone has to give you their advice, so good luck! and congratulations on your little girl:)

steph207 - April 9

hey, they didn't have to induce me, I went into active labor around 3 wednesday morning, got to the hospital around 4 was 4cm dilated and had her at 9:22...weighing a big 5lbs 14oz ha, apparently my lil girl needed to stay in a lil longer she's a tiny one, but I was also 5 lbs and right on time, we're just small people i guess ha

djh - April 9

Cograts to you! I had a peanut girl too, 5 pounds, 9 ozs. We are tiny too.

Allisonc79 - April 10

Thats cute! Small people, lol. I have a feeling this one will be around 8 pounds. Both me and dh were about that.
