You can not be 18 weeks pregnant and have a negative blood test. But if you want to see for your self, just ask for an ultrasound.

oh hun i'm sorry but there is no way you are 18wks pregnant has your doctor felt your stomach if so they would of felt a baby as they know what they are looking for i think you have worked yourself up so much your brain is playing tricks with you thats why you thought you felt a kick but if you are still convinced then get booked into a scan asap and then you will be sure i really hope i'm wrong but good luck and all the best

Bori, I have to agree with Rachbabe. If they gave you a blood test and it came out negative after 18 weeks, then you can't be pregnant. Basically they test for hCGs in your blood. The hCG hormone level in the human body doubles approximately every 2.2 days during the first trimester of pregnancy. Detectable levels of hCG start at 5 mIU/ml during the first week of gestation and rise to 100,000 mIU/ml at 2 to 3 months. Values decline to 10% to l5% of peak concentrations during 2nd and 3rd trimesters. My doctor told me that if the hCG levels don't rise significantly enough, it's most likely a nonviable pregnancy. If you're really at 18 weeks, then they should definitely detect the hormone. You should get an u/s if you want to be 100% sure. Make sure your bladder is full when you go in. Good luck.

YES it certainly is possible to have a negative blood test at 18 weeks pregnant. I know this for a FACT because it happened to me. I had 3 FALSE negative blood tests 1 which was around 18 weeks, I had every pregnancy symptom going but countless FALSE negative urine tests + blood tests I believe this was because I was experiencing 'period like bleeding' each month which was interfering with my hcg levels, I also had a FALSE negative ULTRASOUND at approximately 8 weeks pregnant I can only put down to the fact I have a tilted uterus + they did not look properly after the negative tests! The nurse at my surgery examined me at around 14 weeks + could not feel my uterus still I KNEW I was pregnant so did not give up. Eventually after I begged for another ultrasound this confirmed I was nearly 20 weeks PREGNANT! I knew I was right all along. So ladies trust YOUR BODY you know your own body better than anyone especially if you have a child or have been pregnant before!!!!

I agree w/staycegrace!  Az it also happened to me I had 1 home test come out positve around 2 weeks in then nothing!   Family clinic still nothing, kept going back in and told still negative!   I was 94 lbs and beyond sick hadnt had a period in 4 mo and they actually told me (sweetie you have the flu)   finally had a dr do a free exam where he said i was pregnant although test still said neg.  He said i was about 16weeks, but gave me a list of things if they happen go to ER 1 week later i am cramping like crazy then had blood freaken went to ER to my serprise being told not 17weeks along like dr was thinking but 21 weeks!   1 week after that i was in portland oregon being told by a dr no honey your not 22 weeks now your actually 25 weeks 6days!   So yeah i would go in for an ultrasound which they should be doing either way cause you shouldnt just stop your period if not pregnant either.   Wishing u the best of luck

Hi staycegrace, I would like here more from. Did you go through any other issues? Was it a normal delivery? Have your HCG levels raised after 20 weeks? Thanks in advance.

Hi staycegrace, Thanks for your post. I'm in the same boat. I would like to know more about your pregnancy. For how many months you had period like bleeding? Were there any other complications, since the the hcg levels were low? Appreciate your response.
