This is my 5th pregnancy. I only have 1 child that is 4. I had my 1st m/c 10 yrs ago. Lst yr I had a child full term that had trisomy 18 and only lived for 5 days. I became pregnant again shortly after when an u/s @ 17 wks determined no heart beat. I had to have a D & E. Taking advise of Dr. I waited to get pregnant again. I recently found out I was pregnant and went to Dr. to make sure that everything was o.k. I got news that there was a sac but no embryo. I was told I am 7.2 wks lmp was 5/29/05 but sac measuring only 5.5 wks. I had my hcg levels tstd they only wnt up slightly in 2 days. I am to go back for another u/s on 7/27/05 & more blood wrk. I do not have a lot of hope. I started spotting last nite w/ lower back pain. I am just waiting for something to happen. Still feeling sick though, I was pretty much giving up any chance that the Dr. may be wrong until I read this site. Thans to all who shared their stories.

I had my third v____al ultrasound on 7/26 and the dr saw the fetal pole. I was measuring at 7.2 wks. She did NOT see a heartbeat though. She was quite adamant that she should have seen a heartbeat. They did another hcg reading which came back at 51,100. I have an ultrasound tomorrow to see if they can see the heartbeat. I am very worried because both the doctor and the nurse sounded like I should expect them to not find the heartbeat. Both my husband and I are very upset.

I had my 2nd ultra sound yesterday and got the results of my hcg tst The levels went from 12,000 on Thurs to 19,000 on Tues.and I saw my baby's heart beat. They said that I am only about 6 wks pregnant! I still have to go back in 2 wks for another ultra sound but for now I am still pregnant.I trusted my instincts and was right. So, for all of you who think there is any doubt at all that you may still be pregnant I recommend you wait until your body takes over and miscarries naturally. Drs. can be wrong my situation proves it!

Here's a weird story for you that I still can't figure out myself. I had an u/s at about 5 weeks that just showed the sac and the yolk. So, I was told it may just be too early and to come back in like 2 weeks. Well, when I came back they could see everything your supposed to, but a low heartbeat. So, I went to another place for a second opinion and they said everything looked good. You could even see the little fetal pole. They said that sometimes at 8 weeks they heartbeat just may not be that strong yet and to come back. Well, I actually went back a couple days later for a level 2 u/s with the tech and it came back saying the sac is perfectly round and big, measuring normal, but nothings in there and no heartbeat. I was like, WOOOW.. then where did it go. So, I had the doctor do it in the room and check it to verify... She said the same thing.. that they couldn't see anything. But the sac was still there. So, how did the fetal pole get out if nothing was ruptured? Hmmm.

Also, I didn't have any bleeding what so ever, not even light. No pain, nothing. Everything looked good. But my baby just disappeared!? I ended up having a D&C the next day (that was just 2 weeks ago) and to this day, it kills me thinking that I should have just waiting because maybe it was just hiding. For heavens sake, they did see it in there before. If I had to do it over again, I would have just said NO on the D&C unless I was bleeding or in pain.

Update to post on 7/22: I am suppose to go in for my u/s tomorrow morning. This past week and a half has been hard on me not knowing if my babies are ok. I had myself convinced everything was ok since HCG levels did go up and I have had no cramping or spotting. I was getting more anxious about having twins than I was getting bad news until about an hour ago. I noticed pink/white mucous looking stuff when I wiped. Not sure if it was blood so I took it upon myself to check my cervix for blood like they did in the ER. I touched the center of my cervix. It feels closed to me but I did find bright red blood on the end of my finger. I have cried for the last hour just preparing for the worst tomorrow. I find such comfort here knowing other people have felt the pain I am feeling now. I currently am not experiencing any cramping. Just praying for something good tomorrow. I will let you know.

Well Jennifer. Not everything symbolizes something. I know many girls that had actually a lot more blood then just the little while wiping and had a perfectly healthy baby. Heck, I had absolutely no bleeding or cramping after mine stopped developing and the heart stopped. So, I was real confused. My best advice is just to take it easy. Just relax, even do some breathing exercises. I found it to help. Also, here is a very good site that explains a lot. When you scroll down it has many explanations and information. You may find it helpful...... http://www.ob-ultrasound.net/ Keep us posted! Always remember a good saying I learned from the Army "Hope for the best, but be prepared for the worst"

Jennifer... Also, you can ask the dr. to use the color flow mapping in the ultrasound or a power doppler. When they couldn't find a strong heartbeat on my fetus they did the color flow mapping thing and it showed that there was blood flowing through it. Then the next u/s they did the same when they couldn't find the heartbeat at all and sure enough there wasn't a blood flow any longer. So, if you haven't m/c by the time you have your u/s, it wouldn't hurt to ask him to check it. Heck, he might anyhow.

Follow-up to my 7/14 post. Hello all. I first discovered on 7/11 that, though I was 9 weeks pregnant, my doctor saw no fetal pole. She gave me no other info and I completely felt pregnant. So, though she wanted to do a d&c right away, I wanted to wait and see. I tried to get a 2nd recommendation, but could not find a good doctor in my HMO group,so stuckwith her. I went back a week later, found out my hcg levels went down (35,000 to 32,000), and u/s still showed an empty sac. Though all signs of pregnancy present and no spotting at all. I waited still, and a week and a half later started spontaneously miscarrying. Like Carol-Ann's experience, it was awful (huge clots/tissue), painful (lower back and abdomen) and scary (I gave my boyfriend the hospital info in case i pa__sed out, I didn't). Turns out part of the amniotic sac was not able to release (trapped in tissue and blood clots), so then i also had to get a d&c 2 days later. My doctor - Tristan Bickman in Santa Monica California - DO NOT GO TO HER - was in such a rush she did not use anethesia, though I asked her to if it was going to be painful. So I went through excruciating pain again! My advice, find a doctor you trust, find out for sure if you are not having a baby, and if you are not, get the d&c. The waiting was agonizing and the pain was almost as bad. I know i have learned from this. Best of luck and health to you all.

Alexa, I'm so sorry to read of your experience. A miscarriage is bad enought but then having to go through the D&C too. It seems all in all this has been a terrible experience for you. I really hope you are luckier in any future pregnancies. God Bless.

Sorry ALEXA- I accidently typed your name in the "name" area on that one. WHoops. I meant to write your name, so you knew I was talking to you. My bad!! Think I'm losing it. ANyhow, just so you don't think someone has the same name.

Update: Well I had my u/s yesterday and I have lost all hope. One sac has shrunk and the other had absolutely no growth in 2 weeks, still no fetal pole, heartbeat or anything. Doc says doesn't look promising. He wants me to come back Mon for another u/s to confirm but what's the point, nothing is going to change between now and then. since I have been home I am having really bad back pain, frequent bowel movements and contraction like pains in my stomach, all signs of miscarriage. I know it is going to happen so I am wanting the D&C done. I don't want to wait. I want the closure. You know my baby stopped growing 2 weeks after I found out I was pregnant, as of yesterday I would have been 11 weeks pregnant. I wished I could have known sooner, maybe it wouldn't have hurt so much. I know it is God's will and they probably weren't healthy. The hardest part for me was telling my 6 year old daughter who has been asking for a little brother for a year. My husband and I are so very sad about our loss but we are not going to give up hope. To all of you ladies who are still waiting for your news I pray for you everyday, no one should have to go through what we have been through and to you who have had happy ending think of us that are still trying when you squeeze that bundle of joy. God Bless all of us.

does anyone know of a good support group online? ever since my m/c my world has been turned upside down. i am going through a big depression and it seems nothing in my life is going right. most mornings i cry hysterically when my boyfriend leaves for work (its usually the morning after we have s_x) i have been getting frustrated over things that never frustrated me before, i am jealous of my friends who have kids, and even jealous of my boyfriend whose 7 year old daughter lives with us full time. i dont want to be home or at work, i dont know where i want to be, i want my boyfriend's attention constantly but he seems to be over the m/c and isnt very supportive at all. my friends and family all say they are there for me, but i want my boyfriend not them, but he isnt being supportive. i get headaches everyday to where my head is throbbing, my back is hurting and i am very tired everyday at some point where i feel like i am going to pa__s out and sleep. i ahve taken up smoking again since the m/c and iv been smoking WAY more than usual. im not sure what to do. any ideas to get me out of this funk?
