I had a blighted ovum in 2003 and a D & C. I took me all this time to get pregnant again. I am now 7.5 wks and tomorow I go for my 1st ultrasound. I AM SCARED TO DEATH that the same thign will happen again. My HCG levels were 31,200 on 8/24 and, 5 days later they were over 70,000. I don't know what it means and I am so afraid it will happen again. I thoguth I BO was a once in a lifetime event, but I read that some woment had 2 or 3 BO. I am 38 and this might be my last chance to have another child.

Chana- I had an ectopic 2 years ago and lost my right tube. I just found out I'm pregnant again after my D&C just over 6 weeks ago. I just got pregnant again right when my hormone levels went all the way down to 0. Heck, probably that same day. But, I went to the hospital yesterday because of pain in my lower left side (they confirmed a new pregnancy, but thats it). They said its too early to tell yet... I'm so afraid to lose my only tube left. ANYHOW___ I wouldn't go for a D&C until you all know "for sure" and you don't have any regrets. Or you can wait til you start getting cramping like your about to have a m/c. I will say that its not unheard of to have the fetal pole play hide and seek on you. But, since your paying good money for IVF, then they should have good ultrasound equipment, yet, who knows.. But, don't do it until you are 100% certain. Best of luck to you as well!!

Thank you Daniella. I don't think I will be able to sleep tonight.

Congrats!!! Don't kill your self with worry... The pain you are feeling could be from a cyst. I have that and my first thought was ectopic (I had one before and lost my right tube - the pain was on the left side). I was sick with worry until I made them do a v____al ultrasound. How far along are you? From reading your posts sounds like you are stuck with a military doc. First, let me say I am sorry about that (I have had many bad expierences with them) Second, do what you feel needs to be done and don't let them tell you differently. If you want an ultrasound, with your history, they have to give you one. Have them check your ovaries too - that's been the root of my pain and I am 11 weeks along. Good luck!

I went for my first ultrasound at 12 weeks, and by the measurements they determined that the baby was only 6.5 weeks. The doctors informed me that the baby had pa__sed away at that time and I had not naturally miscarried. They called it a "missed abortion". I also had misgivings about having a d/c, however I set up the appt for the following week. The day before my scheduled d/c, I had severe cramping and heavy bleeding. The miscarriage was happening but I was hemorraging. I lost A LOT of blood... about 40% the doctors guess. I ended up having an emergency d/c in the ER. This all happened in June. I waited until I had one normal period and now I am pregnant again! 7 wks. I had a u/s last week and they saw the sac and a little wee white area (looked like a grain of rice) but no heartbeat yet. I am very afraid of miscarrying again. I am praying that I will see that heartbeat and then maybe I can breathe again. Anyway everyone, if you ever start to have a miscarriage, I would recommend going to the ER. My hemorraging happened very QUICKLY and I was lucky that I was close to a hospital. This is my first post -- it is great to have people to talk to about all this stuff!! We are not telling anyone about the pregnancy this time! Not until we know everything is going to be okay... :)

Hey, thanks! The dr. said the same thing, that it might be the pain from my ovary (lets hope).... My levels were down to 5 from my D&C about 2 1/2 weeks ago. (took 4 weeks to get all the way down).... I got pregnant as soon as the levels went all the way down. So, I am about 2 weeks from conception. The military dr. I am working with is the best so far that I've dealt with. I have had many bad experiences with them also. This is this dr. new command. She just got here and she is determined to make sure everything is perfect with me. She is so wonderful. My husband went to college to be a dr. before he joined the service, and he really likes her as our dr. She is definitely on top of things and I am so thankful of that! About time. lol..... Anyhow, I go back in tomorrow to see if my HCG is doubling normally, and next thursday for another ultrasound to see if it made it to the uterus. One good thing is, I'm not having any bleeding like I did with my last ectopic. Yet, they say patience is a virtue. HAH!! lol

Thanks for all the featback! I got my hormone levels and unfortunately they didn't go up! I'll have to ge back next Wednesday for another check and probably decide with the doc what to do. Good luck to you all!

I've been through this too. I had this feeling though that something was wrong. I insisted on the dr seeing me. As I drove to the drs, I was spotting bright red blood. They did the U/s and there was only a sac. I misscarried 3 days later. Someone on here asked what to expect. As I have 4 children already, I can tell you the pain of a miscarriage is that of how you feel after giving birth. Or at least it was for me. Pa__sing the placenta, (chunky clotted blood) and then having a period for almost a month. Not to mention the emotion anguish. I had already made diapers ( I make aio diapers) for the baby, putting up another crib, and telling my daughter (only one) who desperately wanted a sister that the baby had died. It was just a bit much. when you have this happen, its ok to grieve. Its important to grieve. But be positive, its a year later, I am pregnant again, and I go for my first u/s in 2 weeks. I am trying to remain optimistic and greatful for what I already have. I wish you all the best.

TO DANIELLA: I keep the faith and a friend prayed with me at work, before my ultrasound appointment and I left in God's hands. It is NOT a blighted ovum this time around. I waited almost 2 years to get pregnant again and this time I am having my baby. I also took a lot of herbs and natural hormones trying to convieve. I worked! Good luck to all mothers and mothers to be!

Ok ... After reading your insporational storeis I have new hope... I am 8 weeks 2 days pg and I went for my 1st u/s and they found the sac with nothing in it ... I feel great and dont believe for a second that I have had a miscarrage I am putting my absolute faith in god that he will see my through all of this and allow my baby to be fine and healthy ... I hope that I am right ... Please pray for me ... I will let you all know the outcome :)

Daniella - September 7

At 8 weeks, you should see a tiny person with a strong heartbeat... But, I guess there is always that chance of the little peanut playing hide and seek. Thanks Anita!!! That put a smile on my face! I have my ultrasound tomorrow to make sure that its not in the tube (since my HCG doubled, they only give me a 6% chance it could be another ectopic)... I sure hope it isn't, because I only have that one tube left. I can't wait until tomorrow. It seems that this past week has been SOOOO long. I will post here as soon as I get back. If this one doesn't work out, then it will be our 4th loss... If this one does work out (Im praying) then this will be our first baby. I lost my last pregnancy at about 12 weeks... Seen it grow since I was 5 weeks, but the heartbeat had stopped. ALSO>>..... Anita--- I told you that your numbers sounded great. ;) hehehehe! I am sooo happy for you!!!

Chana - September 7

Did another u/s and blood test today, still the same, empty sack and hormone level dropping. The doctor gave me some pills that should induce the miscarriage (I hope in a few days it'll be over, so I can start another cycle...) All your stories, good or bad, have helped me a lot - I'm not alone out there...!!!

Anita - September 7

To Daniella: Thank you. Please let me know how it goes for you. Don't loose hope and remember that everything in life has a purpose.

Jampa, Don't do anything yet. Just wait a few more weeks and have another ultrasound later.
