Hi Katie - I had a D&C 2 months ago, going through the same thing, I waited for about 2 weeks after not miscarrying naturally - it was a simple 15 minute procudure - I had a lot of bleeding the first day - then had minimal bleeding for about 10 days. I felt good and only needed 1 pain pill. It is scary and you go through every feeling of, should I have waited longer to see if it occured naturally ... etc.. just put the trust in your dr. that this is the right decision and that God has a plan, although it may have not been your plan.

Hi Katie - I hope that helps. Emotionally it's tough, physically it was ok. My nurses, husband and all were very good - I love my dr. too, so I felt confident that I was doing the right thing. It does bring some closure - as I had to wait for about 2 weeks knowing that there was not a heartbeat - waiting for it to occur naturally - so when the D&C was scheduled and done, I felt some closure. I will keep you in my thoughts -

I had a transv____al done at 6 weeks and the doctor detected a fetal hearbeat of 100 and said it was low. I had another transv____al done at 8 weeks and the doctor suggested a D&C because he did not see a fetal pole. Has anyone heard of the ability to detect a heartbeat without a fetal pole? Should I get a second opinion? Any advice is appreciated.

Cindy, I went through the same thing what everyone had sufferred. At 9th week i had little bleeding and when u.s. was done, dr. told baby looks like just 6 weeks old and no sign of heart beat. We had a second opinion and we got the same answer and so did a D&C last week. Its always better to get a second opinion, so that we need not feel afterwards for what we have done.

I tested positive on the ept last week, began spotting Monday. My OB wanted to see me asap Tuesday morning. At the US it was detected that my baby was only 6w1d when it should have been 9w4d based on LMP. My doc had concerns that 90% I would have a m/c. I went in for an US today again and there was no heartbeat and no movement. The yolk sac which is usually 2-3mm measured 7mm and the embryo was a lot smaller than it should have been. I am so devastated, its so hard to bear. The doc asked me to schedule for a D&C next week and in the mean time I can make a decision if I want the m/c to happen naturally. Is there any hope at all? Or its all over??

Hai Siddhi
I'm extremely sorry to hear that. Having a hope is never bad. It may help u some or other way. I had my D&C on May 23rd at 10 weeks with no embryo. I had been through both natural miscarriage and D&C before. compared to the first the later will not atleast have any physical pain. I pray to god to have some good news for u .
wish u good luck.

siddhi, even when dr told us the same thing, we also waited for 1 week and then also thougth of waiting for another week, but then decided if there is atleast 1% risk of baby being born with some defects, it will be very painful for both the child and us through out the life and thats why we also decided to d&c. As rajee has told, d&c is less painful for us and they also say d&c is better than m/c, becos it cleans completely.

Thank you Rajee and Siddhi for listening to me and responding to my post. Sadly, its all over. I began to bleed heavily Sat morning and I pa__sed everything. Seeing the pregnancy sac was a lot distressful and I am so shattered. Its hard to get past all that has happened. My OB asked me to come in for an US today morning before they do a D&C tomorrow. The US revealed that I do not need a D&C. I have a lot of weakness right now. The OTC Motrin helped quite a bit with the cramps and the pains.
Its been quite an emotional ride. Its probably one of the most painful experiences I have ever been through. I hope I am able to cope with the loss and move on. Its just so hard right now.
My doc has asked me to get a blood check done every week to see the hcg levels and has asked to begin trying only after completing 2 weeks. Also, my OB asked me to get a progesterone levels checked when I test positive on ept the next time. Is this what you were advised?
I wish everyone well. You all will be in my thoughts and prayers.

hey, im so glad other people are going through this as well. Monday I ended up in the hospital b/c of bleeing ( almost like a period) and abdominal pains. My doctor told me that I had a " threatened miscarrage" and that i had a 50/50 chance at that point in having a miscarrage or not. I went home and relaxed, the bleeding and pain has stopped and it it now thursday and I never hemeraged or anything.I figured I was fine when I went to my new OBGYN today, and he took a ultrasound and there is no emybro or anything... he said its eather to early, or i had a miscarrage. Isnt there suppose to be some kind of plasenta or something coming out when i bleed if i had a miscarrage at 6 weeks? I'm extremely nervous b/c i want to find out if im still having this baby or not. does anyone have any advice, or opinions on whether you think i had a miscarrage or its just too early.. ? HELP

It's me again here. I don't really know why I'm posting this, seeing as my last post was so long ago. I just came to say I miscarried on Valentine's Day of this year, and although the experience wasn't pleasant, everything has turned out just fine. I have stayed at school, and am now completing the second half of my A-level course. I have just accepted that basically, the baby happened, but it just wasn't the right time. None of us were ready. Now, I look forward to the future, and to giving birth for the first time :)

I was 10 weeks pregnant when we went in or hear the babys heart beat on a Tuesday. Our doctor could no find it with the doplar so she did an ultrasound and saw the fetus to be not as big as it should be and no heart beat. We were then scheduled for a ultrasound at the hospital on that Friday. The radiologist measured the baby at 5w 6d. The doc said that my hormones showed I was further along and wanted to do another ultrasound on Wed. to see if the baby was growing. We went on Wed and they said they saw minimal growth (2mm). Thurs I had some brownish discharge and I called the doc. The nurse prepared me for a miscarriage and told me to stay off my feet and lay on my left side. Now it is Sunday and I have not had any bleeding or cramping or any bad signs at all. I am to wait till Wed to see if there is any growth. I am so confused and frustrated. It has been an emotional roller coaster. The doc said she is not ready to give up on this baby. I am so glad for that but I want to know if I am going to miscarry.
