I am a 26 yr old married woman .I have never really had regular periods.Usually i would have a 32 to 36 day cycle.Some years back my prolactin level was high which was taken care of by bromocriptin(i have been off it for almost three years now).I recently got a prolactin test done and it was normal.i was on birth control for about 3 months from mid Oct 03 to Jan 04.After stopping the BCP's in Jan 04 i got my periods regularly until June 04( about 32 day cycle).After 6th June i got my period on the 15thSep and now only after 13 days of my LMP i have started getting a reddish brown discharge .I recently saw an OB/GYN but at that time i did not have the reddish brown discharge.He prescribed me with Prometrium everymonth to start my period but i have not taken it yet.My bloodwork had shown a high testostrone level and my pelvic u/s had shown mild variant of polycystic ovarian syndrome.I have again taken an appointment with my OB/GYN but its still 2 weeks from now and i am a complete nervous wreck right now.I don't know what is wrong with me.I am planning to start a family in a years time and i am scared to death because of the menstrual problems i am experiencing.My OB/GYN did my physical exam also which was normal and i did a pap smear as well in Dec 03 which was normal too.What could be the reason for this reddish brown discharge which is not very heavy like a period .I am very distressed.
