Hi MNL thannk's for th response I am sorry about your mom. I have been reading about this CPC all day and feel much better. I feel better too because I told my OB that I changed my mind about having the AFP test and he didnt mind, he just rescheduled me for another level ll US in 4 week's. At that point I will be 25 week's, so my finger's are crossed and many prayer's are beign said that this CPC will be gone. I am also rea__sured by the reaction of my regular OB and the perinatoligist. And by the fact that they both said my baby is perfectly normal and healthy. It is still scary though!!! I hope all goes well for you tommorow actually I am sure all will be fine!!! Let me know the outcome please. Kelly

i am 22 weeks and i know i'm probably worried about nothing but the dr. who gave us the ultrasound was so mean and was basically telling us that this can be down's syndrome even though my obgyn told me my blood test came back negative for that and the chances are like 1 in 5000...she was very short with us and for first time parents and grandparents we were scared to death. thanks for putting me a little bit more at ease. i'm glad to hear you have a beautiful healthy son! thanks again..andrea

Hello everyone, I am Gus and my Wife is Debbie. Day before yesterday we just had our first ultrasound, @ 9 weeks, and everyting seemed to be ok. We heard the heartbeat for the first time and saw he baby (so cute). Anyways, yesterday our doctor called debbie saying that she was concerned because there was a black dot found in the baby's head. Should we be concerned? Another ultrasound has been scheduled four weeks from now and we just cant wait that long. Research has now begun for us. Are there any good websites out there that we can get information on this. Thanks.

Hi all..I feel for all of you. I am 18 weeks , i did a detailed ultrasound yesterday and it showed a CPC and a calcium deposit in the heart..The doctor offered me to do an amnio. Iam not doing an amnio though because of the risk of miscarriage. Anyway to make you feel better these doctor freak you out for nothing, they do it for the money. So just pray for god and be sure that god is your babys doctor :) be happy about it , you have the best doctor in the whole world....
God rea__sures you a healthy baby...all these markers doent mean much and postive outcome is more common. Dont let anything ruin your happiness. By the way i am at a higher risk of having DS and thats because we have a family history of ataxia disease and I am married to my cousin....anyway dont worry about it and enjoy it ;)

Hi, I'm 35 and pg with my 4th. At my 18 wk ultrasound I was told our baby girl has bilateral large choroid plexus cysts and "borderline foreshortened long bones." On closer inspection of the report I see that the actual measurement was just 2mm smaller than average. Unfortunately these two "markers" in addition to my "advanced maternal age" (don't you just love that term) caused the sonographer to flag my report and recommend amniocentesis, a follow up ultrasound and genetic counseling. After some soul-searching and discussions with my midwife and husband, we have opted not to do further tests and just hope for the best. I just wanted to thank everyone who has posted here, especially Megan whose case sounds very similar to mine. You have given me a lot of comfort in knowing I am not alone.

Hosna, my son had an echogenic focus that had me worried sick before Thanksgiving. Thank goodness my triple screen came back OK, and the baby seems to be fine. Please do a google search for an article by Roy Filly called "The Best Way to Terrify a Pregnant Woman." It might bring you a little peace of mind. Someone may have already recommended it, as I admit I did not read all of the posts here. It certainly made me feel better. Good luck!

Just wanted to follow up on my previous post. At the insistence of our healthcare provicer we did end up having a second ultrasound. Fortunately the cysts are gone, heart and kidneys look great and all of our baby's measurements are in the "normal range!" We feel so blessed and for once I am beginning to actually look forward to the birth of this baby (I'm at 37 weeks now). Best wishes to all of you mothers out there going through this! I hope to post again before too long with our birth news. :-)

to momof4littlegirls-- that is wonderful news! thank you for following up. My doctor found a CPC last week and this board helps a lot. I am 35 and am in my 20th week. I luckily had already had my blood work performed (ie triple screen, AFP) and had a level II ultrasound which were perfectly normal, so when he found the cyst 2 weeks later, at least I knew there were as yet no other markers present. Still, I am very worried-- I keep reading that the age of 35 is important to consider if you find a CDC and so I worry about my age. We are going to a genetic counselor this evening, so perhaps i will learn something new. We go back on Feb. 4th for a 2nd level II ultrasound. Thanks again to everyone who has contributed to this thread.

I'm thrilled to be able to finally post with happy birth news! Our beautiful baby girl was born 2/19/07, weighing 8 lbs 12 oz and measuring 20.75"! Apgar score was 9. In spite of the two CPC's, long bones measuring "short" and advanced maternal age she is perfectly normal and healthy!
