my story isnt one for a happy ending, i had my paraguard put in after the birth of my 4th daughter.. about 2 years later,,, i became pregnant but didnt know it until i was about 10 weeks. I finally figured out that i was pg and went to my ob.. he tried over a course of 2 days to remove the IUD but it was no use. my cervix was closed to tightly, to make a long story shorter, He consulted a specialist and i was advised to leave it alone because after sevral ultrasounds my baby was fine and the iud was visable. I went EVERY 2 weeks for ultrasounds to keep the doctors updated. Well my story ends at 19 weeks and 5 days.. My son died. The IUD did what it was supposed to do.. it stopped a pregnancy! The iud had moved and punctured his placenta therefore cutting off his oxygen and food supply. so my son , my only son died! The iuds dont prevent you from conceiving, they make your uterus unfavorable for an already fertilized egg.. thus you have the possibility of becoming pregnant each and every month. my advise is to GET THEM OFF THE DARN MARKET!! they arent a form of birth controll, but a legal loop hole for abortion. please ladies be careful.. My son Jonathon is my reminder each day.

Bad news for me too. I am having a miscarriage and have a dnc tommorow part of the iud is in my we saw it on the ultrasound.. I really want to go forward with a law suit but I have never done any thing like that.

I just got the Mirena iud removed last week after almost three years. A few months after getting the iud my period stopped all together. When I asked the doctor if it was normal and or healthy she responded everything was ok. After 3 years of no period I'm afraid we will have trouble concieving our second child. I have a history of miscarraiges. During the last two years I have been experiencing terrible headaches & depression. Until recently I bothered to look into the iud I came to find out that these are side effects of the iud. Side effects that were never discussed or for that case a__sociated my symptoms to the iud. I can only wonder now. Reading all your stories really worry me. If its not doing what it's suppose to what else are they keeping from us!!!!

Hi Britney i am pregnant took with the IUD and I am 2 months however I have seen to doctors already and they have not have luck of taking the IUD out because its visable. All I hope is that everthing goes well and pray to God that my baby is born healthy.

Hi.. well i found out i am six weeks pregnant while using the MIRENA IUD. I went to the doctor, and then she attempted to remove the IUD and unfortunely the string broke, and she was unable to pull the IUD out. She tells me that i have no choice but to leave the IUD in, until i deliver! I have heard that it is very risky to leave an IUD in while pregnant.. higher misscarrieage rate, and infections.. etc.. i am very upset, and scare...and wonder who esle is going throught this? i see that alot of you were also losing weight when they got pregnant... and so was I i had lost 75 pounds,i wonder if this had something to do with the failure of the IUD? any info is appriciated..

Not to scare you or anything but I just had a dnc today because I had a miscarriage because they removed mine. But the doctor said one time he let a girl keep it in he didnt want her too but like any other mom no one wants to loose a baby.. She almost dies because of infection.. Thats a chance you have to talk but i wish you all the luck in the world sweetie...

CAN MIRENA IUD CAUSE SEVERE DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY AFTER HAVING A MULTIPLE PREGNANCY

I have been using a Mirena iud since December, My periods were regular all through June, now I havent had my period since than and im kind of freaking out, I have been very tired kind of moody b__wing up at every one But what really freaks me out is that my belly has seemed to grow expecially in a weeks time that even my husband has realized it. I have had 2 children so I know what some of the signs of pregnacy are and its kind of freaking me out. I think I need to take a Pregnancy to be sure and maybe reconsider birth control options.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Hello! I stumbled across this message board and find it extremely interesting. I too have been having preg symptoms for a couple of weeks now. I have been brushing it off as stress, pms, fatigue, but when i started to cry over a commercial, that really wasn't very moving, a red flag went up. As i was reading through these posts, I was wondering how many of the "I think I'm pregnant" posts have returned to say they are indeed pregnant? I saw a few, but there were more that were wondering, but I haven't seen them come back to post. Also, for those who did test and did get negative results only to find out later your were indeed preg, how many tests did you do? What brand of hpt did you use? I got a box of 3 First response tests today, did one this afternoon but it came back -, so I'm going to wait for first morning urine. If that too comes back - I will wait another 2 weeks. I had false negs before with two previous pregnancies so that wouldn't be unusual for me. Oh and one more interesting factoid. My aunt conceived and carried to term while having an IUD in place that was years ago, so I'm wondering if something like this could be affected by manufacturing of the product? like a faulty batch or something? Because she told me then , she heard she wasn't the only one then either there were 4 women in her circle of friends that became preg with the copper T, so I'm thinking that could be a very real possibility, a__suming we all do come up pregnant. Any ideas?

i got the mirena iud on 5-4-05 and have had terrible spotting and cramping since then. also, my strings disappeared, and the dr had to search for the iud with first a regular then a v____al ultrasoud. she said it was in place, and to wait some more to see if the spotting and the cramping resolve. i am personally sick of taking ibprofen everyday for cramps. anyone had this problem?

Hi ladies....well, my problems never seize....i spoke with my doctor on monday, she said that yes I have a very bad Bladder infection and that the meds she gave me should wipe that and the pains I am having out....WRONG...when I expressed to her that i am still having the severe stabbing pains to my sides she set up a ultrasound appt, which is on the 11th....so much for finding out what is wrong immediately....i told her that i have a gut feeling that i am pregnant regardless of what the hpt tests say...she said well we will definitely find out on the 11th...so i am still dealing with the pain....it is really bad at times and mild other times....i just want to say, ladies if you are having problems that are not expalinable, do not wait around....get to the dr....find out what is wrong...it may not be nothing but at least you are thinking of your health....i will keep you all posted... I'm just too scared to take the pregnancy test, but I've never been more than three days off. I'm 10 days late should I take the test?

Hey everyone, I'm now 21wks pg with mirena IUD (put in when I didn't know I was pg).My 18 wk u/s everything was fine my ob doesn't seem concerned at all about the IUD hes treating it like a normal pg.My u/s said the IUD is at the side out of the way safe for now but if it moves it could pierce the placenta(hopefully it won't move).I was wondering if anyone knows, when I was about 8wks pg (I was warned about miscarriage risk) I had pain all day & that night I had a huge mucus discharge & bleed for a few days.Could I have been carrying twins & lost one as my previous pg I had twin boys.A dr couldn't tell me what happened & i've never had a miscarriage before. I will let you know how I'm doing,had a few pains. Is anyone further along than me?

I have the Mirena and am starting to "feel" pregnant. Symptoms: Frequent urination, occasional bouts of dizzines, Lower abdominal cramping and shooting pains into my crotch area. Also last night I couldnt sleep and was very uncomfortable and today i took my multivitamin and threw it up. I took 2 at home tests and both came out negative. whats up with that?

has anyone found any other information on the web about pregnancy with a iud in ? I have been searching but have found almost nothing...i also have a 10 yr iud i had put in about 41/2 yrs ago after the birth of my third child...i had light spotting instead of a period this month and keep dreaming about being pregnant..I'm curious how often that really happens.
