I have had the mirena for over three years w/o a period.This happened twice.Hence the reason I found this thread.It could just be a cyst.They are common and often go away on their own but you still should go to a doctor.Their is a slim(vey slim) possiblity that you ovulated and got pregnant.If they happen alot or hurts an IUD may not for you.I suck it up b/c I enjoy not having periods.To each their own.Good luck

Wow - I just found this and I have a similar situation on my hands. I was late and I went to see my doctor. He did an internal and I have been bleeding/spotting ever since. I have a wicked kidney infection and there was too much blood in the urine to even get a negative result on the PG test. I have been naseated since last wednesday, my b___st are slightly tender and I have ma__sive heart burn at night no matter what I eat during the day. I had a copper T for 2 years but had it removed during surgery where they put a 5 year IUD in. I had been getting my periods every 3 weeks since the insertation but right now there is only blood when I go to the bathroom for the past 2 days. I can not run an HPT while on the antibiotics but otherwise I am exhausted and nauseas all the time. Anyone have an opinion?

I have had the copper IUD for 21/2 yrs. I had my period in Nov. on Thanksgiving. Then 2 weeks later I had 3 days of bleeding. Now 1 week later I have been spotting a lot. I am so tired I can hardly function. This is the way I felt when I got pregnant with the first two, but could it be that or anemia? Any advice?

I went to see my consaltant yesterday and he has asked me and my partner to talk about a Termination, because if my placenta has not formed around the coil the coil will burst the baby antomic fluid and will bring me in to early labour i could have this baby at anytime in to my pregnancy, Me and my partner have decided not to do the termination but to give my baby a chance in life if this baby arrives early least we tried, this coil has been the worse thing iv ever decided in my life, i Beg other women to have this Mirena coil took out before you have to go through what me and my family are going through i have to decide whether my child can live or die because of this plz do not praise it bloody bann it , Also i have SPD symphis pubis defuction im only 14wks pregnant and im 21yrs old feel like im a 100yrs old any1 advice on this take care ladies and your miracle bumps 2

GEMMA, I THINK YOU MADE A GOOD DECISION TO CONTINUE WITH THE PREGNANCY. I WOULD ALSO ENCOURAGE YOU TO GET A SECOND OPINION. IN MY CASE I AM 21 WEEKS PREGNANT AND THE IUD IS ATTACHED TO MY UTERUS. WE HAD HOPED THAT IT WOULD ATTACH TO THE PLACENTA SO IT COULD COME OUT IN DELIVERY. NOW, IT LOOKS LIKE I WILL BE GETTING A D&C 6 WEEKS AFTER. YOUV'E COME THIS FAR AND YOUR BABY SOUNDS AS DETERMINED AS MINE. UNFORTUNATELY, THIS BEING PREGNANT WITH IUD'S IS SO UNCOMMON THE DOCTOR'S REALLY DON'T KNOW EITHER. KEEP US POSTED!

I too have an iud in I have had mine for marh/04. Now my periood has been regular and ontime but this month it hasn't flowed only marked and its been a 8ys so far. Everyone on here says that thier period stopped but mines is jus spotting. What do u think this means.

Gemma and Amy God bless you..i so know exatly what you two are feeling.. as you may already know i am 26.5 weeks pregnant and everyday is an acompishment.. and I am so Grateful to God for allowing me to carry this baby.. My doc dosent even see my IUD anymore.. we dont know where it is.. it used to be close to my cervix, but now the doctor believes that it may be in the placenta, or even embeded in my uterus.. I found this website because I have been on the depo provera injection for a year now and in that time put on 20kilograms (about 50ibs) so was looking for a non hormonal birth control, dr recommended this, my mum said don't because she used to have iot and she got pregnant on it 25 yer=ars ago and it caused a misscarriage, do I'm doing research, now I don't know what to do, should I risk it?? its better than not haveing s_x, or what other options do I have

Hello! I have had a Copper T- IUD since March of 2001. I have a 5 year old son. For the past 2 weeks I have had signs of pregnancy. I have taken 2 hpt and both came out negative. I believe other wise. I have noticed my belly getting bigger, lower back pain, nausia, different cramps than from my period, sensitivity to smells, etc........................ I didn't realize how many people have gotten pregnant with the IUD. I have an apointment on Monday.. We'll see what happens. My husband and I talked about having another baby, in 6 months from now. It worked so well for almost 4 years, I think if I am pregnant this is a pure act of God. I didn't want to have antoher baby untill last month. Well I haven't had my cycle yet, I'll check back with you Monday after my apointment. I am sorry for those of you that were not wanting another in your neer future.

I do NOT have the IUD with the hormone and my periods have increased in flow. I spot inbetween periods all the time. It's not usually enough to matter though. I am kinda used to it now so I am afraid if something went wrong I wouldn't know the difference.

Hi Amy B & Ethi thanks for your msgs, it is so hard and its true the Doctors dont no much about being Pregnant with the IUD in place, iv got to wait for my 20wks scan its on the 1st Feb (6days b4 my 22nd Bday) My coil it right on the top of my womb it so high up the doctors cant reach and because of this the baby has tucked the strings up (what is good news) the doctor said hopefully the placenta will form round the coil if not then early labour for me as the baby gets bigger and the antomic fluid keeps bouncing of the coil it will eventully burst it, you are so right Ethi god gave us these Miracle babies for a reason and the babies are determined to fight for life im so glad your pregnancys have gun so well, i will keep you all posted xx

Hello everyone! After reading all of your responses, I find myself feeling a bit naive. I thought that I had researched the whole IUD thing thoroughly and realize that I obviously didn't. I got a copper-IUD in March 2005. I was late with my period and having all of the symptoms of pregnancy. I took 2 home pregnancy tests this morning... both positive! I have been s_xually active for 10 years (mostly on the pill) and have never had any other pregnancy instances. I am very disappointed in my decision to get an IUD and will NEVER get one again! It makes me feel better that I am not the most unlucky person in the world! I just figured I was part of that whole one in a million thing...

I had the copper Paraguard put in two years ago. As of the past couple of weeks, I think I have been getting symptoms of being pregnant. Nausea, sensitivity to smells, extreme cravings, etc. At first, I thought I was just PMSing, but my period is now 1 week late. I haven't felt this way since I was pregnant with my other children. I have two (12 yrs old and 13yrs old). I am going to take a home preg test today. I am a little nervous because a couple of the posts said that the home tests came back neg at first. Husband is very excited about another baby though! I'm not so thrilled. I am 34 and currently a return college student. Crossing fingers today...

Im glad I found this site. I too have a IUD, mine is copper and I've had it for 4 yrs. I havent had any real problem with it except for a few late periods but for the most part it has always worked, except now. I think I may be pregnant. What I thought was the beginning of a period a few wks ago was just brownish blood in my undies that lasted for a day and then went away. Also, few wks ago, I felt this stinging sensation that felt like it was in my cervix every time I moved. I told my husband "I think somethings wrong with my IUD" but failed to get it checked out. Im now wondering if that was IUD falling out or making its way out. Has anyone experieced that feeling before with theit IUD? Target opens in a few hrs and I'll get a pregnancy test there. *Keeps fingers crossed* another baby would be lovely!!

Hello again... I put in an entry about a week ago. I have since been to the doctor about my IUD and pregnancy. I had been having cramping with no bleeding. It turns out that I am 6 weeks pregnant. My IUD was still there... but the cramping was a sign that my body was trying to expel it. The doctor found it all wadded up at the top of my cervix. She removed it and put me on antibiotics for 2 weeks. I am in an unfortunate situation. I am finishing my 3rd year of my doctorate in pharmacy. We start rotations in May and can be worked up to 60 hours per week. The thought of enduring this pregnant or with a baby brings tears to my eyes. I guess I wonder if this has happened to anyone that considered not keeping the baby. Even though it goes against everything I believe spiritually, I feel that this has to be an option for me. Has anyone else gone through this??
