I just read on www.advancedfertility.com that 85% of healthy pregnancies have hcg double every 72 hours so i'm holding onto that hope....

Daniella - January 26

Britney- yea, your HCG should double every 72 hours after it hits about 10,000. Yours isn't far off and at 7000 they should definitely see something by now. If I were you, I might think about going to a well known hospital to get the transv____al scan done. Even if you have to lie and say your having all these pains, etc., etc., just to be seen. lol... You definitely don't want to lose a tube from an ectopic if they cant find a sac. It has to be somewhere. Hey, when you said they didn't see anything... do you mean, they didn't see a fetal pole.. or they didn't even see a ring (gestational sac)? Last thing, you might want to ask for progesterone supplements. NOT that your levels isn't high enough, BUT... its dropping (which isn't good) and it also helps bring up your HCG and keep the lining of your uterus nice and thick. Its totally natural and can't hurt at all. It will help your HCG rise better. Anyhow, I am surely hoping that maybe the one that did your scan just wasn't too good at it or the equipment wasn't... you should see something by now. Might want to get a second opinion. Good luck!!!

Daniells, I AM on progesterone supplements. They are v____al suppositoris. if my level was 7000 today he should have for sure seen something yesterday, which is why i'm so worried. he did a transv____al scan. He said MAYBE maybe maybe he saw something that might have been the begining of a sac, but by now it should be clear. so thats not very encouraging. i guess there's nothing left to do but wait. i was thinking of doing what you said (lol) but the i got scared that they will really think i'm ectopic if they can't see anything and i'm claiming to have all this pain. will keep u posted....

Yea, but better to be safe then sorry. The fact is, at a level of 7000+ HCG, you should see something without much trouble in the uterus. If not, I would be worrying about ectopic. Just if you feel any kind of discomfort, don't hesitate to go to the ER and get it checked out. Hey, you are pregnant and your level is high enough to be seen.. so, it has to be somewhere. You can almost always see it in the uterus once your HCG hits 2000, but some machines is at 1500. Hey, I have a real good site for you to check out. here: www.ob-ultrasound.net/ __and then scroll down. It has so much info on it. I really hope that it was just the machine he was using and that its not ectopic. How long have you been on the supps for now? anyhow, I really pray everything is going to be all right. I am sorry your emotions are all torn right now. Just try and relax, you just never know.

Britney, heres alittle hope, this girl I know was having trouble seeing the baby too. They didn't see the baby until she was like 3 1/2 months pregnant. Doctors couldnt explain it, they knew it was there, but couldnt see it in the u/s. They were worried that it was ectopic or molar, but her numbers were good, so they waited. Finally the baby showed himself. Her pregnancy is healthy and will deliver next month. I know its hard, but miracles can happen and everyones pregnancy is different.

Jeanette- I took radiographic anatomy & positioning in college (just as an extra elective)... not what my med. degree is in.. but, I will tell you what.. I never once EVER heard of not seeing it up to 3 1/2 months. Thats obscured.. I would have gone to a different hospital or clinic in the very beginning. Once you hit past 7 weeks, its almost never an ectopic for it would have ruptured by then or you would be in the hospital of unbearable pain. Anyhow.. perhaps 5 weeks may be too early.. but, up to 3.5 months is completely unheard of. Even with the oldest equipment out there. So, I have no idea what went wrong there.. but, the chances of not seeing it up to 3.5 months is lower of a chance then winning the lottery. Even if you have ma__sive fibroids or anything ubstrcting the view on the scan, that is just much to far along to have any problems at least seeing something... I dunno on that one. Weird!! Yet, anyhow.. Britney, you just never know on yours. For it just may be early. Heck, your HCG is high enough, but maybe the sac just isn't large enough this early. In the very eartly stages its the size of the tip of a ball point pen.. extremely small that you have to magnify it many many times.. So, right now you may not see anything, but in a week from now you should definitely. I have a good feeling you will. Especially since your not in any pain to worry about an ectopic.

I know its hard to believe, but that is what she went through. I remember she used to worry and cry because it was a planned pregnancy and they couldnt see the baby, but now she is doing fine. I'll find out exactly what the doctors told her happened.

Tracy - January 27

Jeanette- I have indeed heard of what has happend with your friends pregnancy. Although Danielle is correct it is almost absolutely unheard of, there have been cases where it has happened. And as far as ectopic goes, it's more common to have one last longer than 7 weeks than most people think. HOWEVER, with a number of 7000 I have never heard of an ectopic reaching those levels. But anything is possible. I have even seen HCG rise as normal, then drop and then rise again. Ectopic pregnancies are a very strange thing. FURTHERMORE, a high HCG level can also be a__sociated with a belighted ovum. Although these forums can be comforting to share you experience with others, and recieve feedback from women who may have experienced similar situations. It is best to not put too much faith into them. Every woman and pregnancy is different. NO ONE knows your history or situation better than YOUR DOCTOR. Any serious questions or concerns should be discussed with your healthcare provider.

Hey Tracy, how have you been? Haven't seen you on in a while.. sure hope all is well!! and yea, I've heard of it happening before, but just unlikely.. just like, did you hear about that lady that gave birth in the toilet not too long ago and never knew she was pregnant and her baby was over 7 pounds? I'm overseas right now due to the military, and haven't seen TV in so long, but my mother told me that and I couldnt' believe it. I am 6 months now and there is no way I wouldnt know I was pregnant. Heck, he kicks me so hard at times that it scares the cat. lol... Anyhow, yea... you hear strange stories all the time. As far as the ectopic pregnancy goes.. it depends on which kind it is.. if its in the tube, it is very unlikely to make it past 7 weeks. My first pregnancy ended as an ectopic in my right tube and I went to the ER because it ruptured (I didn't know I was pregnant because the test(s) kept coming back neg.) and I almost lost my life. I lost 5.5 pints of blood and had to get 2 pints transfussion. So, each pregnancy after that, once I hit 7 weeks... they said I was pretty much in the clear for another ectopic.. and yes.. just like you said, usually if its an ectopic pregnancy your HCG doesn't double, much less rise. I was about 6 weeks in the tube and my HCG never even got high enough to detect on a HPT. They had to take serum to test. I should have known there was a something majorly wrong when I was bleeding for almost a month straight. I always had an abnormal period and thought it was just another one.. and I also had shooting pain in my side.. but, I was far to stubborn and wouldnt' go to the hospital. I kept saying I must have pulled something or something while working out... when your a marine, you tend to do stuff like that a lot.. I really should have gone in. Because I didn't, I lost my tube and it took over 2 years to get pregnant again with just the one.

Jeanette - January 27

Yeah, it can happen. Hey Tracy, I'm gonna call you "T" because Tracy's the name of the girl I caught my guy talking to. HAHA, Im kidding. I started to lightly bleed again, should I be worried, I have no pain at all. I haven't been able to go to a doctor other that the ER because my insurance won't go into affect until next week. Should I go back the ER or stick it out until I feel some kind of pain.

Daniella - January 28

Jeanette- well, heres the thing.. you can go to the ER if you want, but they are going to say pretty much to wait it out, that there really isn't much they can do. They already haven't seen it on ultrasound yet, so.... if they still don't, your going to still be at square one. Although, its been sometime since you had your last ultrasound!? So, you might get another one and that will help answer some questions. Also, if your bleeding is your body trying to have a m/c, then there really isn't much they can do. :( sigh.... right now, pretty much all ya can do is keep checking your HCG to see if its still rising.. if they numbers go down then you are likely on your way to a m/c... :(.. how bad is the bleeding?? Well, in the meantime with the horrible waiting process, just try to take it easy. I wish you the best of luck!!! Here's some hope though... if you do m/c, then you will ovulate again once your HCG hits 0.. Mine took 5 weeks to get down to 0 from 10,000... So, it all depends on the numbers. I ovulated and coceived within days it went down to 0 and now 26 weeks pregnant. Never had a period in between the m/c and this pregnancy because I conceived that first ovulation. So, don't give up!!!! Also, have they done anymore HCG testing since those 2 you had? AND... if your like me, you may go to the ER anyhow... just to give you some piece of mind. I would be in the ER with any horrible pain or bleeding right away.. but, I don't have to worry about insurance, so its no big deal if I go. I just really hope you get some answers soon... its got to be killing you just not knowing. :*(

Jeanette - January 28

I started to bleed about 3 days ago but real light, just to wear a panty liner at the most, mostly when I wipe. I didn't start to bleed until after after intense intercourse. Also, I've been trying to research about a tipped uterus, because I know for a fact that I have one, I've been told so many times that I had one and not to worry about it, I read that a tipped uterus can cause v____al bleeding. I'm just gonna wait it out and let nature decide what will happen. No, I havent gotten anymore blood work, I am going next week as soon as I get my insurance policy number and can go to the doc.

Daniella - January 28

Well I sure hope when you finally get in, you get some answers. :) Also, a tipped uterus is actually extremely common. My doctor said most her patients actually have their uterus more towards the back or sides then the normal. In fact if you look it up it says that its extremely common. So, I wouldn't worry about that. :)

Britney - January 28

Hi everyone-Daniella, its really funny that you just mentioned that, cos my doc told me i have a very "backwared" uterus, and i had no clue what that meant. Also i figures you weren't writing from the u.s cos of the times you posted:) (i'm writing from south africa) Anyways, an update: i spoke to my doc on friday and he said that 7000 was good and as long as i have no pain and bleeding, just to wait and see. my next scan is on monday, and so far no bleeding or pain whatsoever,so i'm PRAYING we'll see something. Thing is, i have no pregnancy symptoms whatsoever either. Anyone heard of that? its funny cos my husband and i both pointed out two small black circles in the scan doc took on wednesday, but i guess he knows what he's talking about, if he said he didn't see anything, it couldn't be obvious to us. oh well, pray for me gals... Hope the bleedings stopped, jeanette! and thanks for all the a__surances.

P.S. by the way, I know that all pregnancy's are different, but anyone who needs some hope and comfort reading should go to www.misdiagnosedmiscarriages.com

Daniella - January 28

Britney- In Japan right now (but from the states).. lol.. also, on my last pregnancy that I miscarried, I had every pregnancy symptom imaginable... On my current pregnancy, I hardly had any symptom until the 2nd trimester. Never got sick, nothing!! and I am now 26 weeks... So, each pregnancy is different and so is the way your body reacts to it. Don't stress too much on that. Your also not very far along at all, so it might catch up to you later. hehehe... Also, I have a good feeling on your next scan as well.. I wouldn't look to much into that ultrasound pic.. there are so many things that could look like something. Just give it to your next one and you should definitely see something by then. Each week makes such a difference. :)
