I know what you are feeling. I am currently 2 1/2 months and my hcg levels were doing great in the begining and now at about 2 months, they stopped doubling BUT they are still going up. My progestrone level was low to begin with, I was put on the Progestrone pills but with all the research I found, I switched over to the gel suppository method. It seems as though the pill does not do much to rise the Progestrone hormone in the uterus level and the gel does.My doctor keeps having me do blood work each week, and each week its goes up, just not doubling. good luck.

Well, my numbers keep doubling. They are doing blood tests and u/s every 2 days. I went in this am and still nothing on the screen, just an empty sac. It has grown in 2 days. I am 6 weeks and 5 days today. (I did IVF so am positive on the dates). The Dr. says it is not a good pregnancy, just a growing empty sac. But I have no signs of miscarring yet...no blood, no spotting, no pain. So...I have to wait till next week now and take another blood test. Has anyone else out there had a normal pregnancy and had an empty sac at 6 1/2 weeks??

Thank God for this sight! In the same boat Tamara...i am at 6 weeks and 1 day and they see an empty sac. Dr. said date could be off b/c I got pregnant exactly 1 week after stopping "the pill". Had blood drawn Monday and hcg was only at 71. Have to wait until tomorrow to see what level was today. Dr. continues to tell me to be "optimistically guarded". I am so stressed about it and not very hopeful. Good Luck to you! Hope everyone else is doing well.

I am new to this forum, but it is really comforting to see that I am not alone...My lmp was 1/10/05, but it was my first cycle off of the birth control path (Ortho Evra). I had some light spotting on 2/10 and 2/11 but no other "period" symptoms. I had positive hpt on 2/12. I have been spotting 2 days out of each week. It is very light, only on tissue. I have moderate ligament stretching cramping. My OBGyn performed a pelvic and stated that all was as it should be, but there was no trace of anything in the transv____al U/S on 2/24. I have had two beta hcg tests (blood). The first was on 2/17 and read a level of 127, the second was on 2/24 and read a level of 893. I don't know what to think. My Dr. has stated that the numbers are rising appropriately, and I am scheduled for an ultrasound on 2/11 to take another peek. The thought is that because I became pregnant my first cycle off of bc, that I may have ovulated late in the cycle. I am EXTREMELY nervous as this point! 5 years ago I carried a pregnancy to 30 weeks, delivered by emergency cesarean and had a funeral for my baby boy, Kenan, a few days later. I just can't relax out of fear! Any advice?

Jami & Tamara & Beth, I know how you all feel.. it is a really hard waiting game. I did a few ultrasounds before I finally saw a fetal pole and a heart beat.. My numbers were over 14,000 before we saw anything... and all of your numbers don't seem high enough YET to even be able to see a baby in there.. it is just to early.. and some women can't see anything until 7 weeks + some days. .. we saw an empty sac for a while and in a matter of 4 days it went from empty, and feeling very sad, to a strong heart beating baby. Keep us posted on how things go and just take it easy!

Amy- THANK YOU! My first smile in days! I hope that I am in a similar situation to you. I guess I will know tomorrow what lies ahead a little better. God Bless you! Good Luck Jami!

Me again....woke up in the middle of the night with cramps and a small amount of brownish spotting. Is this the beginning of the end? My smile from last nigght has quickly faded. PLEASE ADVISE!!!! I am praying constantly but the thought of all of this makes me feel helpless... I can't stop crying and worry I won't make it through work today without breaking down.

have a question and it seems this may be the appropriate place to ask. I miscarried on 1/28 (had a d&e). Started ttc 2 weeks after. I started to have symptoms, had spotting for a week. Now, I asked my dr. to give me a bllod test 5 weeks later and my level was 7. My question is: last week I had a dip in my temp that I thought possibly could be implantantion, if it was is 7 an ok # to have 1 week after implantation, or is it more likely that as the nurse said, I am still having #;s from my miscarriage? It's just that everyone else I read has gotten back to 0 in a few weeks following a miscarriage- I was 8 weeks, baby was 6 weeks size. Any thoughts- it's driving me crazy and they don't think I need another test :(

Hello everyone! I found this site yesterday and wanted to share a story or two with you. I had 2 previous m/c before my son so the third time I got pregnant, I was walking on pins and needles. I had light spotting when I first found out I was pregnant with him and once I hit the 7-8 week mark, I pa__sed a huge clot, had heavy bleeding and lots of lower back pain. I went into the doctors and expected the worst. They told me to look on the screen and there was his heartbeat. The best sight I had ever seen!! I continued to spot(brownish and pink) until I was about 12-13 weeks along. I had been on progestrone supplements with him until I was 12 weeks too. He is a happy and healthy 2 1/2 year old now. I am now 15.5 weeks pregnant with number two. Same spotting occured up until about 10 weeks this time. I guess i just am one who will spot through out the first trimester. I was also on progestrone with this one. As far as HCG levels I had one done the 14th of Dec (278) 16th of Dec(754) and the 20th(4200). I am sorry I cannot tell you how far I was past ovulation because I stopped my bc pills to switch over on the patch of the 20th of November and got pregnant around the 28 I am guessing. I am just rambling so pardon my unorganized post. I just wanted to let you all know that spotting is scary but know that it doesnt always mean the end. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers and I wish the best for all of you.

Oh Jaimie, your story just made me feel such relief! i am sitting here waiting to hear from the dr. my HCG results.....I have had 3 m/c over the past year and a half, and am now seeing a great RE. I am on prometrium v____ally b/c i have a luteal phase defect (don't produce enough progesterone on my own).....and of course when i found out this time i was pg, i was extra, extra nervous.....and then i had spotting, and then yetserday we saw a sac on the ultrasound, and still a bit more spotting, but i just have to wait for those hcg numbers today. The waiting can drive you nuts! But I was so glad to come across this story......thank you and keep your fingers crossed for me!

Just got tthe latest hcg levels and my fears are confirmed. They have dropped all the way down to 20! So, the spotting and cramps are indeed the beginning of a miscarriage. I feel very sad that I am not destined to be a mother at this time, but knowing what is going on (even though not what I hoped) is a relief and I have to think positive and marvel that the human body will not let something unnatural happen in your body and have a strong faith that as soon as my husband and I try again, it will work out next time. I thank each one of you for your stories and your hopes and encouragement. I will keep each one of you in my prayers daily. I wish you all the best in these pregnancies and wish you strong faith and courage that if this one doesn't work out, the next one will. Lots of Luck!

Tara: I am so glad that you read some of the stories as well and know that there is still hope and not to give up. I know its hard not to a__sume the worst if you have been through it many times. Once I found out I was pregnant with this one, I wanted an u/s to confirm how far along I was so I could get on the premitrium. They could not find any sign of pregnancy so we did have to wait two more days to see if my levels went up. They did and a week later, we could just see the sac. So, I was just like 2 weeks along when I found out. So, if a sac isnt seen right away, that may be the case. I hope you will post back and let us know. I will be keeping you in my thoughts! Beth: I am sorry to hear your news. You are looking at it the right way although I do know how devastaing it is. I always tried to remind myself that God has a plan for us and when its that time, it will happen. I will keep you in my prayers and wish you the best of luck!

simone: My doctor says he likes to see at least a 66% increase in hcg levels every 2-3 days. It looks like your levels are low but increasing by at least 66%. Many articles I have read say that it is the rate at which the hcg rises and not how low the number is. I can see your concern for an ectopic. It's on my mind too with my low but rising hcg levels. What color is your spotting? Usually spotting with an ectopic is brown. Is this your only sympton? Any pelvic discomfort only on one side, or any back pain? Waiting to be rechecked on the 8th week may be to late if an ectopic is suspected. I truly wish you had access to a v____al ultrasound. I believe this would put your mind at ease. I had one successful pregnancy and I spotted brown when I was 3-4 weeks pregnant. Some women spot throughout their pregnancy. Well good luck and don't wait until the 8th week if you show other symptoms of an ectopic pregnancy. Please keep me posted.

Amy: Thanks so much for your posting. I did have my labs drawn at 2 different places. The first at the hospital and the second at my infertility specialist's office about 45 miles away. This is the hope I am holding onto. I did call the doctor and ask for a repeat test but they want to do another v____al ultrasound and labs in a week. I will be 6 1/2 weeks by then and I am hoping for the best. Still no cramping or spotting. But years ago I miscarried at 7-8 weeks and I vividly remember the heavy bleeding and cramping came on fast. I will keep you posted with Monday's results or if any changes take place before that time.

Well I heard from the nurse late this afternoon and my hcg is where it's supposed to be....1913...matches what they saw on the u/ syesterday. BUT I am still spotting, off and on all day, but the nurse said just to monitor it and call if it increases....I am scheduled now to go back Wed. for blood and u/s. Somehow I will get through the next 6 days! My husband and i were scheduled to go on vacation next Mon-Fri, but are cancelling at the dr's recommendation. I have putting my life on hold, but this is obviously more important than a vacation...will keep posting. Good luck to all of you!

stacey - March 3

tara G- some women do spot through their pregnancy, so it might not be a bad thing- though I'd be nervous as well. Good luck and I hope you're one of the lucky ones :)
