I am 5 weeks and 3 days and was told i needed a d&c cause of the abscence of a fetal pole. My hcg is 19,000. I have bled lightly for the last 2 weeks and have been told the pregnacy is going to fail? Should I get a 2nd opinion? Help!

Yes, I would get a second or ask your doctor for another US in about a weeks time. Bleeding can be normal, HCG of 19,000 is very good. Some ultrasound machines are older and not very high resolution. Also, doctors are often quick to offer a D &C (dont' forget, medicine is a business and doctors DO get paid for those procedures). If the pregnacy is going to fail and at this early stage, chances are your body will take care of things naturally. Good luck and let us know how you do.....

i was 5 weeks 5 days...I had just an empty sac. They told me to do a dnc. I chose to wait 2 full weeks in case the baby was just a slow grower or their machine wasnt sensitive enough. I waited for MY piece of mind. but at 7weeks 5 days...still an empty sac. HCG level 27,676. I had a dnc that day, my choice. Waiting to start over again. Its so hard!

i am 9 weeks preganat at minute and i have had 2 scans so far they say my sack is not normal shape an that there is alot of blood around sack heamatoins they called it and that i will misscarry but i have to wait a further week to see if anything changes so now i am in limbo an do not know what to do i havnt bleed at all only what the seen on enternal scan so i do not knbow anything i need advice
