Hey KM,
Congrats!! We are so close together with our dates!!! I had my sonogram on Friday the 9th and was 6 weeks exactly on Friday. I saw the baby and the heartbeat as well!!!! Yeah!!!! I probably should have changed drs. too. I'm not 100% pleased with my current ones and still have some not so good feelings about the way they treated me during my last pregnancy but I was too nervous to switch because I didn't know if it would be the right decision.
I'm still contemplating switching drs but I'm going to just try to listen to my gut for a little bit to see what is best. Congrats again and baby dust to all who are trying!

Hey KB I am glad to hear your appt. went well. We definitely were ovulating the same time. A friend of mine is also pregnant and is about the same as us. Also, my brother is expecting his first child. His wife is 3 months. Have you told anyone yet? I have, I can't keep my big mouth shut. Whoever I don't tell my parents will. LOL. I am feeling full alot lately. As soon as I wake up I am full that is strange to me.
KB always think this. It's your money and your baby if you are not happy with your service move on. Your dr. shouldn't get paid and treat you poorly. After my loss I decided to move on. Go with you gut but if you want to switch request your records and move on. I did and I am so happy I did. During my 1st pregnancy my 1st appt was when I was 12 weeks. I took a pregnancy test they confirmed, they did an ultrasound and sent me on my way. They didn't give me a package of what to eat and what not to eat. When I came in with any fibroid related pain, they ignored me and made me feel like a freak pretty much.
At this most recent appt. the dr. explained my options, I got a package with a huge book on pregnancy and delivery, and a bunch of free samples. I feel confident about the dr. and this pregnancy.
Baby dust to all those trying.

Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to give an update. I had my first OB appointment yesterday with my dr. I'm now 7 weeks. I had been going in for blood work and even went in for a sonogram last week but this was the first real OB appointment. So they scheduled me to see a nurse vs. a doctor which was the wrong thing to do.
Basically the nurse reviewed my file, saw that I've had a prior miscarriage, a stillbirth, a myomectomy and a procedure to open both of my tubes and she told me that she really didn't want to touch me with a 10 foot pole!!! She was very honest with me and I appreciated that but I didn't get any of my questions answered because she said that they are used to dealing with simple straight forward pregnancies and I just had too many prior health issues and that they would have to send me to a specialist. This office has a group of about 6 drs but none of them are specialist. So, she told me that I would have to come back in 2 weeks and see one of the doctors so that the doctor could refer me to a specialist.
Isn't that just ridiculous? If they would have scheduled my first OB with a dr instead of a nurse then I would already be scheduled to see a specialist so that I could get some of my questions answered. The nurse told me that she would prefer if I kept all of my questions for the specialist because she had never dealt with anyone who's had so many prior health problems. This was an older nurse who's been with the practice for several years.
I find it extremely hard to believe that with all of the pregnancies that she's dealt with that I'm so rare? I'm just thankful that they are going to send me to a specialist because they obviously have no clue what to do with me. I don't know how that works... if the specialist will see me from this point forward or if I will be going back and forth from the specialist to my regular OB dr's office?
I guess my main concern now is of course making through the first trimester ok... then the next major concern is that I still have one fibroid left. Right now it's 2cm so that's about the size of a walnut maybe a little bit larger than that. I want to know if they plan on monitoring it to see if it grows and if so what if anything can be done to prevent the exact same thing from happening again with the fibroid degenerating and releasing the chemical to cause me to go into preterm labor again.
I'm not walking around with blinders on pretending that it was just a fluke and that it could never happen to me again so I want to be informed and I want to know what the possibilities are. The largest fibroid that the dr removed was about 5 cm and if a 5 cm fibroid can cause preterm labor then I know that if the 2cm fibroid starts growing with this pregnancy then it can do the same thing. I'm just hoping that when I'm finally able to see the specialist that I will be able to get some real honest answers from him or her.
Does anyone have any stories to share who've had myomectomies but all of the fibroids weren't removed then got pregnant again with old fibroids still in place? I'm just curious to know what the dr told you about the old fibroids and if they caused any problems.
Thanks! KB

Hi everyone,
It's Sasha here. Checking in and asking for your prayers. After spending almost four months doing acupuncture, diet modification (organic foods and eliminating so many chemical foods from my diet), traditional chinese medicine incluing taking chinese herbs and trying to destress my body, we are pregnant according to 3 home pregnancy tests!!! We are praying and staying faithful that this little one will stick and continue to grow. I believe I am in my 4th week - so it's very early. I charted on fertilityfriend.com which was SO BENEFICIAL as it gave me sooooo much information about my ovulating pattern, my temperatures, my symptoms...I would highly recommend this if there are some who are trying and want to know more about their particular cycle month to month. Back in September '08 we got pregnant if you can remember with our second round of IVf but my hcg level was 93 and it was therefore a chemical pregnancy. That was my second miscarriage. I immediately started seeing my acupuncturist who said, "as long as I'm still getting my periods, I should be able to conceive naturally - despite my age - 42 years old." Well, I guess she was right. :) I had a blood test on Friday and will go for a repeat tomorrow. I am praying that my hcg level is good and rising. I am also prepared to accept whatever God gives me. I've been down this road two times before and feel that I get closer and closer with each pregnancy. So, we'll see what The Lord decides to do with this pregnancy.
For all of those who wonder about pregnancy after a myomectomy, remember to keep your faith. I had 46 fibroids removed in May of 2006. About 4 have grown back and I am not going to focus on those 4. Instead I am going to focus on the baby and pray that those fibroids stay calm and let the baby grow.
Yesterday, I had another acupuncture appointment. Trust me, there are times when I still get stressed out wondering... but I am really trying to be more calm about everything. There's really nothing I can do if things ae not meant to be. I just have to get back on the wagon all over again and start again knowing that I am getting closer and closer to the finish line each time!
Be Blessed everyone on these boards!
Sasha :)

Congrats Sasha I am so happy for you. May God continue to Bless you and your child. Since we have all been through a loss some through two it's normal to be nervous and anxious during the pregnancy. God made a way by allowing us to conceive and he will make a way again. Keep the faith and give praise always. God Bless.

Thank you KM!
My first hcg level was 1,939.
The second was 8,032. The nurse said "it more than doubled!" I am so happy!!!! I will continue to pray and give God all of the praise!!!

Hi guys. I posted at the first one before I saw the blog redirecting us to this one so I will repost. I have been reading through the blogs here and was wondering if anyone could offer thier advice. I first found out that I had a fibroid three years ago when I went in to have a termination that I now regert but that is another story. At the time, I didn't know what fibroids were and still went ahead with the termination. I am not involved in a serious relationship, however, I do have a friend that I am invloved with intimately. He is also the same person I was pregant by three years ago. We stopped seeing each other for about a year, then got back together again. We have not used any form of contraceptiives for a year, however, I have not concieved, even though I wasn't actually "trying" but at the same time, I wasn't trying to prevent it either, so I figure something should have happend by now. Anyhow, I am scheduled to have a myo on the 19th of Feb to remove a 7 cm tumor. This is the part that I am confused about. I have read and been told by some that it is best to try to conceive right after your myo (excluding recovery time) to increase your chances of pregnancy before new fibroids grow. However, i am not with anyone, so should I just take my chance and become pregant in an effort to beat retun fibroids, or just take the chance and wait with the hopes of fidning someone in the next few years. On one hand, I would like to start a fmaily the "traditional" way, but on the other hand, I know that we don't always find the mates we would like to, and in my case, I need to find him within a certian time frame. I am not sure if the fibroid is causing me to be infertile or not, but I was able to get pregnant the first time with no problem. So what do I do in this situation. Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated.

Hi KM,
Are your doctors treating you any differently with this pregnancy (more visits, more ultrasounds)? I'm a little bit (actually a lot) frustrated with my group of drs. Initially I was told that I'm considered high risk and would be seen every 2 to 3 weeks initially and that they were going to send me to a specialist just to be on the safe side. I was thrilled because to be honest after losing a baby at 21 weeks I need to be hand held through this pregnancy and I need to feel like my drs want this one to succeed just as much as I do.
Well, I saw another dr in the group yesterday (one that i had never met). He was extremely rude to me and told me that he wasn't planning on treating me any differently than any of his other patients. I had to explain my history to him (he had no clue) and after I told him about my prior loss and the myomectomy he said... "well, a 20-21 week loss isn't a viable pregnancy anyway and still considered a miscarriage which is normal... maybe you and your husband should refrain from s_x for the rest of the pregnancy just to ensure it wasn't something that you did to cause the loss".
I was mortified at his response and left the office crying. I called back and complained to any and everyone who would listen and left a message for the one and only dr in the group who seems to care and explained to him what happened. I'm still waiting on a call back from him.
Anyway, the rude doctor scheduled me to come back in 5 weeks. We've had one ultrasound and that's it and it was a very, very, very early ultrasound but other than that the rude dr told me that they would not monitor the remaining fibroid because "it would make no difference anyway because if it happens again that I go into preterm labor at 21 weeks then there's nothing that they can or will do to prevent it". So, he said that there was absolutely no need to monitor the growth of the remaining fibroid.
Needless to say I'm on a search for a new dr but it's just not as easy as everyone makes it seem. I'm trying to find a smaller group of drs who are familiar with high risk pregnancies in my area and because I live in kind of a remote area it's just difficult.
Anyway, just wanted to find out what your experience has been so far? Also, anyone else who can give some advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, KB

Hi All,
I'm in the process of researching what to do about my large fibroid and whether to get second and third opinions from doctors. I'd like to know from women who've experienced things as well. How big was the biggest fibroid you had removed and did the doctors warn you against becoming pregnant afterward?
Thanks and baby dust to all!

FinallyPreggers,
I don't know exactly how large my largest fibroid was. I think that all 5 total that were removed were about the size of a grapefruit (all together) which is smaller than most I've read about. However, that cluster of fibroids caused me to go into preterm labor and lose my son at 21 weeks so I was advised not to get pregnant again until I had them removed. I had them removed in June of 08. I still have one fibroid left that's 2cm and I'm now 10 weeks pregnant and hoping for the best. I was told to wait 6 months after the surgery to get pregnant. I cheated and got pregnant at 5 months but so far everything seems to be going ok. I was told that I would have to have a C-section to avoid a possible rupture.

hi all, sasha how r u doing? Finally preggers, you should also enquiry about location of fibroids, that is an important thing to take into account. I got 6 fibroids removed the larger one measured 6 cm and was subserous (it grew outside the uterus), anotherone measured 5 cm, and the other four measured between two and three cms. Now I have a three year old baby called Federica who was born on October 20 and waited four months to get pregnant after myomectomy.

Katerinak1, Congratulations! I remember you from about a year ago or so. I was wondering how you were doing. Glad you gave us an update. I know how much you wanted this after your myo last year, so my thoughts and prayers are with you. As for me, I'm loving life with my 2 month old daughter Audrey. Take care.
