Seems like the test would be positive by now? Did you miscalculate your period due date?

I am about 5 weeks pregnant and scared that I am going to have a miscarriage or have an ectopic pregnancy, I have no spotting but I have minor stomach aches and backaches. I also think it is because I have a history of chronic constipation. Should I be extrememly worried about the stomach pains?

I read that a certain quant_ty of back aches and slight cramps can be completely normal at the beginning of a pregnancy, your body is changing... you should call your doctor though if you start to bleed (unfortuantely like me!). A misacarrage always has bleeding!!! Good luck to you... I'm seeing my doctor today!

OUTCOME: Just to fill people in on how it turned out for me... this might answer some questions and I know what it feels like to need some info. I saw my doctor yesterday and he confirmed that I had had a miscarrage. My uterus was empty (did a US) and I will just do a couple of blood tests to make sure that my hormone levels drop (if they do not drop and I have pain on one side this indicates a tubal pregnancy... very dangerous if not treated!). I am pretty sure that they call what I had a "Chemical Pregnancy"... A 'chemical pregnancy' A very early miscarriage is sometimes referred to as a 'chemical pregnancy'. This is when the pregnancy is confirmed by a very early pregnancy test (before the next period is due or around the time it is due), but 2 - 3 days later a period starts. A urine pregnancy test will often be 'faintly' positive, but a blood test (if one is done) normally shows low HCG levels, which don't increase over time. Without testing, most women are not aware they were briefly pregnant, because there are no obvious physical signs of pregnancy and nothing can be seen on ultrasound. Early miscarriages such as these are thought to occur when the egg is fertilised, but dies soon after implantation. These are thought to be fairly common, probably involving up to 30-40% of all pregnancies. The bleeding experienced often resembles a heavier menstrual period, perhaps with some small blood clots, and possibly some cramping. Not to scare anyone but I had a very light period (didn't need pads and thought that it was spotting), mild cramping and lower back ache. The bleeding started brown with small clots and then became red. It lasted five days. I also stopped feeling that I was pregnant... no b___st pain, cravings, nausea ect... I'm writing this for you all because I had never heard of this and it is quite common! On the positive side of things. My doctor said that it is very important to see a doctor with these types of symptoms because it could have been a tubal pregnancy... so don't hesitate to contact your doctor with similar symptoms. Also, When I asked the Doctor when we could try again to have a baby, he said: listen, just forget about what happened and keep trying! If you hadn't taken a pregnancy test you never would have known!!! This is what I plan to do... next time however I will wait a little longer to take the pregnancy test to avoid this emotional stress. Good Luck to all of you!!!

Last night I went to the emergency room because I had one spot of bright red blood. They checked my hormone levels and they were perfect. This morning I had an ultrasound and everything is fine. The baby's heart beat is 169 per minute. My doctor stated 1 in 5 women spot in their first trimester. Good luck to everyone

I just signed up for this website and am glad to have found it. I tried reading through all the posts for the answer I needed but got tired about halfway through. I just found out I was 6 weeks preg. I got suspicious when I started cramping real bad like AF was coming but only had light pink when I would wipe. ANyways, it has been about 4 days since I found out and I am still having some cramping and the spotting is darker red and a little heavier than before. The cramping is not worse but I'm worried. Anyone have any ideas? I have not seen my ob/gyn yet..I had to go to the clinic and have a positive preg test and then after that see a financial counselor and THEN I will see an OB intake nurse for my first visit and THEN I will see the OB. Im not sure what to do. Any insight would be great- Thanks ladies!!

I have been throuh a lot of wierd symptoms that have been scary for me in pregnacy. I never had pain though? I would request that you see you doctor before you nurse visit. If there is something wrong, the nurse visit is not worth your time? UNLESS they talk to you about what could be going on and pre you to see the doctor? Hopefully you are having implatation problems? If there is a problem, remeber what my doc said... 1 out of ever 10 eggs and sperms are so defective that an early miscarriage is a blessing so the baby does not have to live a VERY unhealthy and sick life. I know this sucks to hear but sometimes that comforts me:-) Good luck! The doc will check to see if your cervixed is closed and if it is, they will probablt take blood every other day to make sure that your HCG counts are doubling.... I also know that when you are in this situation everyday feels like a week so all I can say is pray!

Thanks for the reponse. I definitely agree about God taking care of this situation and I would definitely prefer to have God's will working in my life than my own. I woke up this morning with the spotting still there but the old looking stuff. The cramping is not as bad so far today. I will keep praying and call on Monday to see if I can see OB sooner just to make sure things are on track. I did tell my husband that I would rather enjoy pregnancy than be scared every second of the day. This is my first time pregnant. Again, thanks so much for your response. Just found out I was pregnant on Nov. 30th, which puts me at 5 weeks (gestational 3 weeks). Started spotting (brown in color) on December 9th. Well, it wasnt exactly spotting, it only happened when i wiped. There was never enough to appear on my panties. However, since that event, my b___sts do not feel as sore as they had earlier. I don't know if that is mental either since I am worried about having miscarried. I hope the blood was leftover from "implantation", which would explain why it was brown. However, I cannot shake the feeling that it is a miscarriage. Feeling very depressed because it took too long to get pregnant. I am going to the doctor tomorrow or the following day for an exam.

you have a good att_tude. Remember brown blood is old blood said my doc. PLus my doc said one time that 10% of women spot and they never know why.... I did in my 5th, 7th and 8th weeks of my current pregnancy.... One time I went to the ER because I wanted to see if they had answers that my doc did not.... they simply did a v____al ultrasound and said... we see a heart beat... that is what else they will do to you. they will do a v____al ultrasound to make sure the baby is the right spot and then at about 7.5 weeks, they can check to see a flickering heart. My first pregnany was a miscarriage -- earlier this year -- it was diagnosed as a blighted ovum. That means that the baby was too sick to continue to grow so only the sack grew and no baby.... it was sad because that time I had NO symptoms of a miscarriage so I guess it just does not matter. If you are not happy or feel comfortable with your doctors response... please look for a new doc. I am 10.4 weeks today and I am going to a new doc starting Tuesday... I just never trusted my other docs. They were too busy and never insterested in me... This new office is 1/2 the size and only 4 docs verses 10/11!!! I have an ultrasound on Tuesday and I am soooo nervous still that something is wrong. I am nervous because I too had spotting and they also found out in my blood work that I may have lupus or some type of autoimune disorder? This COULD be another miscarriage risk.... Once you start to worry, it never stops BUT how can it not? It is you and your body and the unknow is so hard. I have really learned to have to put my trust in God because the days last soooo long.... Good luck!

hi everyone my last normal period was the end of September and it ran into the 6th or 7th of october. after that i did not bleed till December 10 of 2005. I cant go to the doctors i have no health insurance and im livivng with my boyfriends mom. she dont know. im worried cause it started a pink color when i wiped for a few days and then i started bleeding quite heavy bright red. and it has been going on for 2 days now. i think i might be 8-10 weeks pregnant but i am a little worried. im only 16 i will be 17 in march. can anyone give me advice

i was spotting light pink for a couple of days and then i started bleeding bright red and feeling some abdominal pains. is it a bad sign.

You need to buy an over the counter pregnancy test. If you are bleeding bright red, you are PROBABLY not pregnant. Because you are having this abnormal bleeding, I would go to a clinic to get checked out. Good luck and let me know if I can help?

I'm 6 days late and spotting very little could this be a sign of pregnancy?

hi girls..let me explain my situation a little better..ok my period always comes at the end of every month like a day or two before the month ends and my last normal period was the end of september which ran into the beginning of October. i didnt get my october period or my november period. in december on the 7th i discovered when i wiped after peeing that it was a very light pink bleeding, a couple of spots on my underware too. that lasted till the night of the 9th. Saturday the 10th when i woke up to go to the bathroom i was bleeding a little heavier than normal and it was light to medim colored red and i had one small clot come out. i started wearing pads and the blood was heavy enough to soke two pads a day.i had abdominal pains too.Sunday the 11th still bleeding 2 pads a day monday 12th still bleeding two pads a day tuesday the 13th im still gonna be bleeding two pads a day. but always when i wiped its a light pink but in the toilet its like a watered colored red. on my pads its a red. is it bad. i have some slight abdominal pains sometimes i eat more and pee very much more..no morning sickness but sometimes i feel nausea but never get sick. I havent been to a doctors because i have no health insurance yet. i live with my boyfreind and his family so i cant be like yeah guys im pregnant. but are those signs of pregnancy..somebody please tell me im not alone.im 16 and im so scared
