Did your dr. rx the progesterone because of the bleeding? How long did you stay on it? What form..pills or injections? Thanks for the positive story.

Hi Maylee -
With your bleeding - is it occasionally very heavy? Just when I thought that it might be tapering off - I have had really heavy bleeding all afternoon - still very dark brown and black but nonetheless it has me very very concerned.

my wife had the same problem in 7 weeks of pregnancy and the first thing that was advised was to go for an ultrasound to detect the status of the featus. once it was confirmed that in was the sub chorionic bleed it was advised to take sustain injection and also the hucac 5ooo iu and to also have sustain tablet orally.

Ladies, I had a person tell me that her gyno told her with the extreme bleeding she had, as did I up till 14 weeks (with a subchorionic bleed), that she is at high risk of going early (pre-term labour). Does anyone know if this is right? I asked my gyno today (reminded him infact - he forgot!!!!), and he said it is possible, so he will get me to have a scan at 34ish weeks and that should help him determine if all is well. Don't understand how a scan can tell you. Does anyone know?
Hi Liz, so sorry about your first twin. I m/c in May, I was carrying twins, don't believe that one was a subchorionic bleed but infact a bleed from within the sac. I didn't know I was pregnant and then decided to go to doc after nearly 2 weeks of brown discharge. We had already lost one, but the other was still there with a hb of 109bpm which they told me was a little slow. They told me to come back in 10 days and then it appears my 2nd twin had pa__sed away. I truely believe that that bleed was different to the one I have experienced in this pregnancy if you read my post up the page a bit, this one was definitely a subchorionic bleed and I am 32 weeks and all is now well. So I am hoping your bubba hangs on in there, there is nothing to suggest that he/she won't GL.

Sheree--I think when they look at the scan they'll look at the cervix to see if it looks like it is opening or not or if it is showing any signs of "incompetence". I'm not 100% sure about this though. Good luck. Oh, also, I can't say I've read anything that indicates a higher incidence of early labor with s/c bleeds. I'll let you know if I see anything different!

Hi Sheree: My ob specialist told me the same thing that I may have preterm labor with the bleeding. We asked him why and he said that the bleeding, which may occur from the placenta and cannot really be determined easily in my case, may cause restriction of growth of the baby. I asked him what's considered as preterm. He said anywhere before 37 weeks. This is how much I know about it so far. Please keep us posted as of the connection between the u/s and the preterm labor. How far along are you? I am approaching the completion of week 20. The last bleeding was at week 17. I have been having bedrest. I do find that I am very easily getting tired. I do still go up and down stairs to drink water and eat. Last Sunday, I went to Costco for the 1st time in 1 month and it got me very tired and I ended up stay in bed for the next two days. I am wondering if the doctor declares that I am all fine and should go to work, how am I going to handle the change then? Well, glad that the baby moves and kicks these days, which gives me more a__surance. Stay strong...

Just reading the recent enteries and just wanted to let people know that it is possible to go into preterm labor...My bleed never went away, it just sits there inside with the baby and I have had multiple antibiotic cycles for bacterial infections and bladder infections 2nd to the old blood sitting there...So here we are hitting 28weeks this saturday and still having lots of signs of preterm labor..My doctors have been scanning me every 2weeks to check cervic, bleeding and baby weight and placenta...and have been seeing the doctor every 3weeks now, when before it was every 2weeks after my sch...Still on bedrest at home, and no work...Very limited activity because increased activity causes the contractions to come on strong...So hang tough girls, get lots of rest and eat good to get those babies gaining weight...

Thanks for the advice ladies, I am just more excited about seeing my bubba on the screen. I will be happy to go early ie: 37 weeks and no earlier. I am starting to take Rasberry Leaf Tablets do you think that is ok, they say you can take them from 32 weeks, and that is tomorrow, but just wondering with this high risk factor maybe I should leave it a bit. I haven't discharged since 14 weeks. Becky - can't believe you are still discharging and you are having such strong contractions, I think I have only just started to get braxton hicks (I think).

Hey sheree...Yeah this baby is playing games with me...Stop that tea and let baby come when it is ready...That stuff will make you have contractions and it worked right away with me on my first one..I did it last time because I couldnt wait 2 days until getting induced... wait another week or two because the last spirt of surfactant is produced at 32 weeks for babys lung development...Cant wait to see pictures..I have taken pictures and will send you some through regular email...Hang in there and write as soon as you have that little bubs..

Becky, it is the tablets not the tea, and I am only wanting to take it cause of my SIL who took it from 32 weeks and she is due tomorrow. She is goodfriends with a midwife and she told her to do so, and she didn't go into premature labour. But do you think I could be high risk and I shouldn't risk it just yet????

Becky, I really appreciate your words--you've been on bed rest a long time and have made it this far! I read above that you hemorrhaged at 15 wks--Do you have a hematoma (blood clot inside by the placenta)? If so, do you know how big it is? I have a 5 in blood clot pushing against the placenta (I'm 11 wks), on bed rest, and just hoping if I stay down that even if it doesn't get absorbed, the baby will be ok. Sheree, I wouldn't take the raspberry leaf stuff if I were you, you might be still at risk of of preterm labor. My dd was born at 32 wks for no apparent reason and having her in NICU a month was not fun. (no I didn't do the rasp.leaf, but I wouldn't risk it.)

Hello guys...well this baby of mine is a stinker...I just went to doctors then got sent to the hospital for steriod injection..OUCH my bum herts....and have to go get scans done and everything tomarrow and another steriod shot...Just praying I dont labor tonight before I get that next shot...Maylee,,my bleed was very large 14cmx8cm.. coming off of the placenta all the way around pushing baby to the other side of my uterus..pretty scary, but I didnt get out of bed for a long time, not even to go to bathroom...As the baby got bigger the bleed never went away it just sits there, spreading out around the baby now..So no the bleed never absorbed for me, it just sitts there cause me to have infections, not baby..once the bleed moved away and thined out they seen it was a placenta abruption..So even more caution..but I feel good now and am so excited when I hit 24 weeks and now crazyly happy to be at 28 weeks..Sheree..girly I took the tablets and put them in with the tea and in a week I had my baby...Becareful for the baby needs that last dose of surfactant for the lung development..34-36 weeks I think will be ok because full term is 42weeks..but under 36-38 weeks is still concidered premature...I hope all is well and these babies will come when they are ready, which is when we arent ready,,if you know what I mean..ha ha..

Becky and Maylee, thanks for your advice. I really appreciate that, might leave the tablets for a few weeks at least, at least till I have my scan and see what that shows, definitely don't wants bubs to come just yet! Becky didn't realise they diagnosed you with a placental abruption, earlier on they saw the sub-chorionic bleed but then at nearly 12 weeks that is what my gyno suspected too, hence the clot the size of my palm, waking in a pool of red blood and cramping. Our stories are so similar only that you are still bleeding I am so sorry you have to go thru this. Like i have said before my bleeds stopped at 14 weeks. Don't know how you cope I was an absolute mess for that whole 10 weeks when I found out I was preggas.

I am 8 weeks and 6 days, and have had several bright red bleeds ( no clots) and constant brown spotting for around 5 weeks now. U/S 2 weeks ago showed a baby with a heartbeat 136bpm. My doctor is not concerned, so i know i should be confident, but in the last 4 days i have had a brief bright red bleed, everyday!, usually during the night or first thing in the morning, tapering off to brown spotting through the day. I havent had any pain or clots at all. I havent been diagnosed with SCB, but it sounds like a possibility. Has any got any ideas for me? Im going to try to get another US booked for this weekend, just to be sure.

BecPap, It's always a reason to worry if you start to bleed but I don't think you should worry that much because you haven't had any clots or cramps. As long as your doctor feels that the bleeding is no threat then you shouldn't worry. It may be hard to not worry about it but we usaully stress ourselves more when we worry. Try to stay positive and stress free. And relax as much as you can.
