Dear all: I have a good news. I had subchorionic bleeding from the beginning of my pregnancy and it was due to a homozygous C677T mutation of the MTHFR gene. On my due date 8/21, I was induced and Grace was born. She is very healthy and weighs 7 lb and 13 oz. Praise the Lord for what He has done. I will continue to pray for each one of you. Keep up the hope!

Hi there everyone, thought I'd give you a bit of an update, we had our 18-20wk ultrasound yesterday, and the baby is extremely healthy. My low-lying placenta has now migrated away from the cervical opening, so my chances of having a natural birth are very good. Heart rate was 156bpm, all measurements checked out, the only thing was that bubby was a little modest and wouldn't let us see its private bits so we still don't know what the s_x of the baby is. The main thing is bub is healthy, that's all we really wanted. Plus the radiologist noted that there was no evidence of a subchorionic bleed any more, she said it appears to have reabsorbed. Basically we couldn't be any happier. We are in our 18th week now, so only 22 weeks to go! We have our doctors appt on Monday so I will write again then. Ashley ann, I know it is hard to do, but keep positive, go and see your doctor, they should book you in for an ultrasound straight away to see how bub is developing, I too had a bleed at 6 weeks and everything was fine (despite the ER telling me I was probably losing the baby). My biggest advice to you would be to have a real good read of the stories here, there are many different stories which helped me through the toughest times, knowing there are a lot of women going through the same thing and sharing their experiences is a true comfort. To you all, I wish you all the best, faith will get you through anything. :-)

It is so reasurring to see I'm not the only one going through this. I have had 6 miscarriages and 1 successful pregnancy. I am approx. 9-10 wks (doc. appt. not for a few weeks) and I have had bleeding and mild cramps on and off now for about 3 wks. I went to the emergency room 2 wks ago and they said it was nothing, but I still wasn't convinced so this morning I went back. The doctor did an u/s and we saw the baby's heartbeat, but he told me I had a subchorionic bleed. The picture wasn't good so I have to go back tomorrow for a real one., after drinking the water and stuff to see exactly how big the bleed is . I am kind of glad I only want 2 kids because I don't think I could ever go through this again. Because of my past, I have spent every waking moment worried and stressed over every little cramp. It keeps me awake at night thinking about it and I can hardly work. I am physically and emotionally drained because of this and now I find out about the subchorionic bleed. I hope tomorrow's u/s will give me some good news. It gives me rea__surance and hope to see that I'm not alone!

I also just wanted to update everyone. I was diagnosed with a subchorionic bleed at 6 weeks when I had an episode of gushing blood and went to the ER (just to sum it up). I went yesterday for a 14 week u/s and my bleed has resolved itself! At 7 weeks by bleed was measuring 3cm and they kept telling me I would bleed again because I had to get rid of that blood. I never did and that always worried me because I thought that the blood was just sitting there then. Finally yesterday we saw a very healthy 14 week baby and NO bleed. It is gone and I am no longer on any restriction! These things can heal themselves!!!!

I am about 7 weeks pregnant and was also diagnosed this past week with a subchronic bleed. They did an ultrasound and we saw and heard the heartbeat. All this time we thought my mild cramping (like menstral cramps) and spotting (pink and brown) were from intercourse or orgasm. Turns out it was from the subchronic bleed. They tell me it will heal itself while i go on pelvic rest but i feel so negative. I experienced more pink spoting and cramping again today and we have listened to the dr and have not had intercourse. I just don't understand this. i fear and am ready for the worst. This is suppose to make baby #3. My baby now is 9, my other is 12. i keep asking myself why i have even put myself through this. My plancenta ruptured with my 9 year old, although he is very very healthy today! but i am still so i am very weary of this pregnancy. Next ultrasound is end of Oct. The dr. tells me that periodic bleeding while these are trying to heal is normal and just to rest, but as we all know, that is so hard to do.

Hi, I’m like everyone else here, thank GOD now I know I’m not the only one who’s experiencing this. I’m 6.1 weeks pregnant, my bleeding started last Monday, on/off, for 2 days, and my husband rushed me to ER Monday night bec. I’m experiencing some back pain plus the bleeding, they check my hormone levels and they said that they need to compare that after 48 hrs but fortunately it doubled up so the doctor requested a u/s to check if the baby is fine. This is my 3rd pregnancy. Still birth @ 1st(I have gestational diabetes), my 2nd one I don’t have any problem at all, she’s a very healthy 4 ½ yr old girl And now my husband and I decided to have a another one and then this happened. I had a u/s last Friday, they saw a gestational sac, embryo??? And bleeding around it…w/c is a subchorionic bleed…as what they say…… they want to do t/v ultrasound but I rejected… I don’t know what I’m thinking that time I thought, that might trigger the bleeding more…so I completely opposed to it…after they explained to me everything, it end up we really need to do this t/v u/s to check the baby h/b, but they already re-sched me next Tuesday, now my bleeding stop…but I still have some brown stain and some light pink stain on/off…I ‘m now resting at home, no s_x,no heavy lifting, no major housework, and thinking of quitting my job…NOT SURE!!!! This pregnancy is really important for me as well as my family…I hope I can get through with this. Is transv____al u/s is safe at all, if you already have a bleeding? I’m worried like hell….well I’m wishing and praying that everything will be fine, as well as all the women experiencing this, wish you all the best…take care

matez: I had a t/v U/s during my first bleed episode they suspected a threatend abortion similar to yours, it actually helped me to see the baby was fine and the heart beat was strong. It is a ver scary experience, but stay strong, stay positive that is what pulls you through. My baby is now 25 W no bleeds since last month,I feel a lot more relaxed.Hope everyone else is doing better too.

MATEZ- I had the same thing happen to me at 5w5d. I started bleeding. At that time they didnt know it was a subchorionic bleed but I had another u/s a few days later and they spotted it. I had to have transvag u/s everytime. It is just soo early that the only way to see anything is to do it transvag. Yes, this could cause more bleeding but my dr. just did the u/s very gently and I was always fine. The subchor. bleed has been a very scary experience but my dr. has told me that 99% of the time the baby is fine and women go on to have a healthy baby. I am currenlty 10w pg and the baby is doing just great. If you have any other questions just let me know!! But please get an u/s. it will make you feel sooo much better!! Katie

Hi there matez, I had a bleed at nearly 6 weeks, the day after I visited the doctor I was given an ultrasound, they asked my permission to have the t/v ultrasound when they couldn't find the baby or the hearbeat, I decided to go ahead with it as I was told that it was perfectly safe and would not harm the baby at all, they found the baby, yolk sac and a little heartbeat, much to mine and my partners relief. The subchorionis bleed wasn't picked up until I was 11 weeks along though. My partner's cousin has just found out she was pregnant and experienced a bleed, admittedly worse than mine, she went and had an ultrasound but they could find a heartbeat. She was given an ultrasound 10 days later and they found the heartbeat. All I can say it is up to you, don't feel pressured into it if you don't feel comfortable. Maybe they can do another ultrasound for you in a week or so instead, and then if they cannot find the heartbeat you can then decide to have the t/v ultrasound or not then. I hope this helps you :-)

MORGAN: I definitely know how scared you are right now. I went through the same thing with my pregnancy. i dont want to scare you but...after seeing my OB more than 5 times because of bleeding i got sick of hearing him tell me to stay on bed rest, but that is exactly what you need to do. Lay around the house and start your baby book or something. Im only 21and it was my first pregnancy. i spotted at 6, 12, 14, 15, and periodically until my 19th week, i was 19 weeks 2 days when i went into labor with my son. it was devastating because all along we know it was a sub chorionic bleed and it would seem to be healing so i would go off bed rest but then it came right back. when i gave birth i saw my placenta, the bleeds don't heal, they just clot...you need to take it easy and stay hydrated, at least 10 gla__ses of water a day. great place for information for me was search engines on the net. if you are cramping and bleeding... go to the ER! dont let anyone tell you its normal to bleed during pregnancy, make them help you understand what is going on and be persistent.

Jellomold - October 22

Hi. Just checking in with my status. I had a 6W diagnosis with ER docs telling me I was miscarrying, but now am at 21W and everything looks great. I am off bed rest but still on pelvic rest. The baby is right on track - it's a boy! - and I feel him kicking all the time. The only iffy thing is they're watching where the blood clot is. They hope it will move upwards as my uterus grows so it will be out of the way for the birth. If it doesn't move and is still in the way, then I'll have a c-section. But, hey, I'll take that any day over how I thought it would turn out in the beginning! Just take it easy and everything should turn out fine. Try not to worry!

Berry_mom - October 26

Does anyone know if it is ok to start working once the clot has been reabsorbed by the body?I have been on bedrest for more than 2 months now since i had the initial bleeding episode. My clot seems to be shrinking now.I was wondering if i could go back to work once everything was all healed up?Please advise.

b__terflymami - October 26

I was never told to be on bedrest during my bleed, just told to take it easy and not lift anything heavy and it resolved itself and I'm back to completely normal activity since. Each doctor is different but I was told bedrest wouldnt' do any good with a Subchorionic bleed and to refrain from s_x and heavy lifting but to go on with daily life because at this stage, there isn't anything or much of anything you can do to prevent a miscarriage. If your body is rejecting a pregnancy, which isn't the case with a subchorionic bleed, then there is nothing to stop your body from rejecting it this early. A subchorionic bleed, if it continues can cause a miscarriage but there is no evidence showing that being on bedrest helps resolve a subchorionic bleed.
