Thanks Kathryn---I guess get nervous b/c it feels like I am getting my period--and maybe that means more bleeding in there--I am just hoping that if there were new bleeding going on---the blood coming out would be red--I got the doc in about 30 minutes--and am nervous as heck--I just hate this whole process!!!!!!
How are you guys doing?????

Dana - hope the docs goes/wemt okay. I'm fine, sometimes I feel really positive then other times I feel like the odds are stacked against me. My hematoma is in a bad place (apparently) it's right up in fundus (top of uterus) and spreads round the sac either side. Not sure what is big and what isn't. Mine measures 45 x 16 x 39mm. To be honest all my bleeds have been bright red apart from the last one and I have to try to be positive by thinking that from week 7 I have bled so therefore the baby was smaller then and bigger to handle it more now. Just there seems to be so much bleak info on the net especially towards women like me who can't rest due to dependents. the medical profession seem to say rest doesn't actually help anyway and then I hear stories of women who are put on bed rest (impossible for me) and it's all so conflicting!

Kathryn----I think your bleed is the same as mine--and mine was bigger--IT IS SHRINKING--YIPPEE---it does help to go in and get u/s if possible
today's was awesome--the baby moved and waved its arms and we saw it sucking its thumb--UNREAL UNREAL UNREAL--before it was just a blob with a heartbeat--now it is a baby--and very active---they think they saw a "pee pee"---but it is still too early--but something was DEFINITELY sticking out down there--of course--hubby thinks it is his BIG MANLY SON---but I think we all start out with a little thingie down there and it shrinks up if we are girls
I think you will be fine--I have heard stories from the doc of women that had 75% detachment and had big babies--I would rest though--tyr to get some help--I don't know if it helps--but why expose yourself to beating yourself up if something goes wrong--I know I am talking out of turn b/c I don't have any other kids--and a baby does not know why mommy cannot hold her or him etc......I would just try to rest as much as possible--it has worked for me--but I have also read the stuff that says it does not matter--my doc believes in it---but I also believe that what is to be is to be--as long as you arenot going nuts--and being too busy--I am sure it will all be fine

Dana - that's wonderful news and I am so pleased you had a positive ultrasound. I do try to rest up - I have sort of imposed house rest on myself and try to keep lifting my daughter to a minimum - you don't want to be lugging a 20lb baby around with a SCH! I still cook, do washing, clean a bit - think I would go insane looking at a disorganised house day in day out. I take on board the rest issue but I am not back to normal by a long shot so feel I am doing what I can. I haven't bled for nearly a week now so that's good. By the way, how many weeks are you now? I am 15 wks & 2 days. Due 26 Dec.

Dana - sorry, just realised I knew your weeks, you are 10 weeks today! Yaaaay! x

Kathryn--WOW--15 weeks--so you can relate to the first time you really see the baby as a real baby--moving etc.....it was just what I needed
when do you go back for another u/s? I would think that having the bleed around the baby rather than on top of it is better--that way--it has a way to push its way out--and the baby is not blocking it
I think I was wrong about where mine is--I think my bleed and my baby are side by side

Dana - unfortunately my bleed is on top and to the side of baby. Starts high in uterus (fundus) then goes either side of the sac. Anyway, there is no point in me going round and round in my head about the postioning. the best thing is baby is getting bigger. I think the m/c risk with these hematoma's is that it threatens to bring baby out with the bleed sort of dislodging it or infection caused by blood (this is rare) Yes, i have had 5 ultrasounds - the later ones are amazing. I have been told that even if I bleed I do not get another ultrasound as there doesn't seem to be much point after all of these. I have another routine ultrasound booked for the end of August when I will be 23 wks, that is standard in UK. We get 12 wks and 23 wks normally and unless there are problems that is it.

That's great news Dana. I wish I wsn't in London right now - there's just been several explosions in tube stations and on buses and we're on high terrorist alert (though they're not sure yet but).

Justine - be careful out there - those crazy terrorists. I used to work in Great Portland St and would get on and off at Aldgate East tube. So glad I'm on my maternity leave. Makes me never want to return to work. Be careful won't you. I'd say go home and sod work but maybe that's not safe?

Hey there--we were in London right before the war and right at the time of the big anti-war protest--where Tony was George's poodle etc.....and I refused to ride the Tube b/c I was sure those idiots would b__w it up--it cost us more money but we walked or took cabs
We stayed in Trevor Square right by the park--it was the BEST---perfect location--sort of a bed and breakfast that a woman ran out of her home--and we could see Harrod's lights from our window and get anywhere fast
We went to AFrica after that and then back to London for a few days--it was AMAZING
we cannot wait to go back
stay safe

I was just diagnosed with this yesterday. 2 days ago I had terrible bleeding and pa__sing of "blobs." Bleeding episode lasted about 30 minutes (HEAVY!), then stopped. OB ck. said that I had miscarried & ordered U/S to det. if D&C was needed. Viable 9 week baby w/ heartbeat was seen ...what a wonderful surprise! OB says to expect another episode or 2 and then should go away.

Lynette - v.pleased baby is okay these SCH are scary eh. I am 16 wks Monday and have had 5 seperate heavy bleeds - 7 wks, 10 wks, 11 wks, 12 wks, 14 wks. I haven't bled for a week and one day so fingers crossed. What have you bee advised? I am not on any form of bed rest (can't be as I have a 7 mth old baby to look after) I have imposed a bit of house rest on myself and I'm trying to get help where I can. to be honest when I'm not bleeding it's business as usual really. How are you coping? any restrictions from your obs?

Kathryn-I haven't talked to my OB yet, just the sonographer...have an appt. on 7/13. I haven't had anymore bleeding, but am expecting it anytime...just have had slight spotting. Was all your bleeding heavy? I'm worried that I'll have another episode like before in public. I was at home and still blood everywhere..have all yours been at home? Were they all the same heaviness? What are your restrictions? Keep your hopes up...I've been offering up my prayers at Ma__s for all moms going through this. Lynette

Lynette,
Luckily all of my bleeds have been at home. I understand your fears. Although you may well bleed again as you have an area there they have identified, you may not as these SCH can be reabsorbed by your body. I still have a fairly large one round the sac in a semi circle (top round to sides) and have not bled from that and I'm hoping that will get reabsorbed, if I bleed from it I won't be surprised though. I haven't been put on any restrictions at all - I have seen lots of different doctors every time I have bled and all of them say rest does not help but if you feel better being on some form of rest when you bleed then do so. Personally I have a 7 mth old baby and bed rest would be a nightmare for me and my ob said that they would only put a woman on bed rest if she had no other responsibilities and would make her feel like she was helping in some way even though it makes no difference. I think lots of people have been given different levels of rest and advice. Especially in UK/US. Yes all of my bleeds have been heavy. One of them at 11 wks was so heavy and wouldn't stop that I was admitted to hospital for 4 days and put on a drip. I think these SCH's are common but not normal - all bleeding is a worry but it is more common with good outcomes than we are led to believe. With regards to your fear about bleeding, why don't you try wearing a panty liner or something just for a little bit of extra protection? What a ha__sle.
Take care,
Kathryn x
