jccf2003 - thanks for your response. Just wondering what you doctor did to get your hemoglobin level back to normal. I have been taking iron and that doesn't seem to be helping much. I had a blood test yesterday so we will see if that is problem.

oncemore - The strangest thing about this situation is that I am on bed rest most of the day. I work from bed for 8 hours a day. The only difference from the night is that my head and chest are elevated. I had thought it may have something to do with laying on my side while I sleep or something like that. My hope is that the bleed is draining while I sleep because I am relaxed. Who knows. I can only hope! I bled again last night but not as much as the night before. I just want my energy back! Hopefully the blood test I took yesterday will shed some light on the situation.

bpack- I am taking iron twice a day to get my hemoglobin back up, but it got low enough a couple of times where I needed blood transfusions (I was in hospital at the time). They didn't do that til the blood count was near 7; normal is 12-14. I started feeling dizzy when it was about 9.5. When it was low enough to need a transfusion, I couldn't walk around for more than a couple of minutes without feeling faint and having to lie down. I left the hospital when it was 8 and I was ok to walk around etc, just very tired. And very white! While I was still bleeding, the iron supplements were only enough to keep my hemoglobin more or less constant but not enough to raise it. I had very heavy bleeding though - I was soaking about 4-5 of those huge maternity pads daily. It was always worse at night/ first thing in the morning. This was from 19-24 weeks; earlier in the pregnancy I'd had lighter bleeding but not enough to soak pads like that. Do you feel any tenderness anywhere on your uterus? If not, that's a good thing :) I never really felt pain, but I did have some fairly constant tenderness in one or two spots. I hope your blood test tells you what's up. The constant bleeding is really worrying when you're in the middle of it, but don't feel like you are bothering the drs! I felt like a hypochondriac, but you really need to keep them informed like you're doing. Like you said, it's just a case of waiting which is very frustrating, but as long as the baby has a heartbeat, all is well :o)

jccf2003 - I got the test back and it did say my hemoglobin level was low. The level was not low enough to get a transfusion so I was told to keep taking my iron. I am so excited because last night was the first time I have not had a heavy bleed in over 10 days. I actually have a bit of energy today. I am hoping maybe this will be the end of it. Only time will tell. Have a great turkey day!

I am 7weeks pregnant and on Thursday we went to the hospital because I was bleeding. They did an ultrasound and we saw the baby's heartbeat. However, the bleeding got worse on Friday and I pa__sed a large clot. Talked to the doctor's today and she said my HCG levels did not increase as she had hoped and I probably miscarried. I have a small amount of hope but it diminished by the hour as I wait for my ultrasound this afternoon. All of your stories are so encouraging and I hope that my levels are increasing like they should be and my baby is completely healthy.

i forgot to say that there was bleeding between the placenta and uterus however, i went into the dr today and there is nothing left. maybe next time.

HEALTHYBABY- so sorry to hear that you lost the baby. Gosh, it just isn't fun to get that sort of news. I wish you the best of luck in your ttc endevors!!! May you get a bfp real soon and have a healthy and happy 9mo!!!! BPACK- that is strange to be mainly on bedrest and still bleed like that. Maybe you are onto something with being relaxed and bleeding more during that time. Hope it gets better for you soon! I got to hear the heart beat and watch the little "heart" logo on my doppler go "on-off-on-off-on-off-on" for quite some time today! It is soooo rea__suring to have the doppler! The h/r was between 157 and 160 bpm. So cool. I am doing ok, just hanging out and taking it easy but not as easy as you have to. So sorry. Hope that it all changes and things clear up for you very soon!

Well i guess i will post here......i had a thread started, but i havent gotten any responses......i was 11 weeks preggo when i was diagnosed with a hemotoma.....i am now 15 weeks and still spotting. What are the chances of me going on to have a healthy baby ? When will i stop spotting ? Will the clot absorb itself like the docs said it would ? Its dark, brown blood and the nurse said that was good, that she didnt want to see bright red blood.

oncemore - November 26

ASH2- welcome along! Sorry you are having to deal with a SCH. Yes! from what I hear, brown blood is old blood and that is good, as far as bleeding goes. They don't want to see "fresh" blood. You take it easy and watch your activity level as to try to let that sch heal. I haven't bled yet, and was told I had one when I went in for my 8wk appt with my dr. and he had me do an u/s (I think mainly due to my loss at 14 1/2 wks on May 31)... I was nervous and excited all at the same time. Then, he dropped the news about my sch and I was nervous as c___p. I talk with some gals on a miscarriage thread here that have had sch's and they bled and bled....and put on bed rest. They are both doing great in their pregnancies now! So try to remain positive and upbeat about your pregnancy. Sorry you are bleeding at all. I keep wondering why I haven't bled yet... but I have had some MAJOR cramping pain when I do too much and my sch did split into two schs but not growing much. So have your dr. keep a close eye on yours and just take it easy. Did they put you on restricted activity or bed rest? Or pelvic rest? Oh, and by the way, I am 12wks 2 days pg. Good luck!

bpack - November 27

ash2 - As long as the hemotoma is not interfering with the placenta your chances of a healthy pregnancy are pretty high. The bleed can still cause miscarriage or early labor but your risks are much lower. I have been bleeding heavily on and off for the last 8 weeks and my baby is doing great. I am almost 20 weeks. Just rest as much as possible and drink lots of water. That is all my doctor said I can do. Hang in there. I know how hard it is. Please keep us updated on your progress.

Hi guys, I'm so glad this site is now active. It's nice to have support. I am 19w 4d pg. It's a girl. I had an u/s ystrdy to check out my s/h and they said the good news it is the same size and has not gotten any bigger. The baby is growing. They said everything looks great. No bleeding thank GOD. I got one of those fetal doblers- the babies heartbeat is music to my ears.

oncemore - November 28

SHEENBEAN- CONGRATULATIONS on a little girl! And I hear ya on the doppler!!! I have one as well and it's now getting a little easier to find the h/b and it is sweet music to my ears as well! I can't wait to be as far along as you and the others are! I am only 12wks4days. My SCH is not doing much (since the split- I now have two) but not growing really. I haven't had a major bleed either... sometimes I forget about it all together, and then other times... I wonder when the "bomb" is gonna drop, ugh! Glad that your sch is not growing.... wish it was totally gone for you! How often do they check on yours?

sheenbean - November 29

TY oncemore, The time will go by quick. It's starting to feel that the weeks are going by alot quicker then they use to. I was coming in once a week to hear the heartbeat, but now I have the fetal dobler so I'm back to my regular appts since I'm not bleeding. I can't wait til we report that we delivered healthy babies! Thanks for being here with me on my journey.

oncemore - November 30

Hi there Bpack and Sheenbean!!! Hope you both are doing well today! TGIF!!!! I am so tired lately! Hey... Sheenbean, you are having a girl and you have a doppler... what is your baby girls h/r usually? So far, I am picking up between 153 and 163 as a usual. But I have heard that the h/r tends to be higher and then tapers off a bit after 12 weeks or so... and then is anywhere between 140 to 180... just curious as to what you are picking up with your doppler? Thanks.

I have a 11 yr old beautiful daughter. I am 36 now and became pregnant after a gap of 12 years. At 6 weeks I bled a little, but was so horrified that i fainted. The bleeding stopped and changed to brown spotting. I have been spotting off and on since then.I had a U/S at 4 weeks, then at 7 weeks and 11 weeks when the brown blood was slightly more than regular spotting. Both times, the baby was healthy with a good heart beat. In the second time, they found that my placenta was low lying and that i have a sch of 2.5x1cm. my gyne said nothing to worry, i will be ok in a month. I m at 13 weeks now. Still spotting off and on with brown blood, but it is mixed with lot of white mucuos v____al discharge and appear light brown. I have been advised to take life easy. Quite difficult as i m a professional and feel very uneasy in bed rests. I m quite stressed and have the following queries to the group. - Is bed rest absolutely necessary for an sch. Even when on bed rest, i do get up frequently for urinating as i drink lots of water. - I am comfortable lying on my right side or my back. However, everyone suggests for lying on left. Is it fine to chose my position as long as i am comfortable. - i feel h__y and s_xed up all the time. In fact i get severe cramps like the one i get during foreplay. my gyne says its absolutely safe to masturbate to relieve myself. I infact many a times I get auto-orgasms without any masturbation. But if i have orgasms, my spotting changes to watery brown discharge. is anyone else feeling the same. - I avoid physical stress but am under emotional and mental stress as i dont have much support from my partner and my family. I try keeping myself strong by keeping myself busy, at times over streching myself. What do others suggest in such a situation. I would appreciate some good advice from the group.
