Yes I have.I was diagnosed at 12 weeks and 2 days.I am now 15 weeks and still have bleeding and spotting.Been to emerg 5 times because of it.Each time they do an ultrasound and the baby is always good.Last night i was there again. The doctor did an ultrasound and the baby was fine and moving around.I was told that the bleeding would continue till the developing of the placenta had slowed down.To only be concerned if I got severe cramping and soaking pads every hour.I have not been put on anything for it.As long as the baby is still active and growing in each ultrasound everything is fine.I was so scared when told i had this as I have never gone through this before in any of my other pregnancies.I feel better having read everyones answers.SO rest and have faith in God.

I wrote back on May 31st. Update: I was at my doctors this week (16) and had my triple screening blood test done. My levels were a little high which gives a positive result for Spina Bifita. My doctor says not too worry she thinks my Hematoma may have caused the increase in levels. The test is also known for giving faulse postivies. I go for a level 2 ultra sound on June 24th and I am so worried. Has anyone else heard of this? Please pray for me. As I am praying for you all also.

It is so reasurring to hear everyones stories. I too at 12 weeks just 2 days ago started gushing bright red blood and thought for sure that was the end of my pregnancy but the u/s at the er showed a baby with a perfect heartbeat doing fine and no obvious complications. The worst is not knowing what is in store but it is nice to hear all of these other ladies who have gone on with the pregnancy. It is ver y very scary the first few days.

Yes. I was diagnosed with this and unfortunately a my routine montly visit on June 6th, my doctor could not find a heartbeat and I miscarried the baby.
I am still devasted by this and I am trying to find out the cause of this and find out if any other pregnancies that I may have result in a miscarriage. I was 16 weeks pregnant when I had to give birth to my deceased baby, and by the way, it was a boy.

At 6 weeks, I had some heavy bleeding and at 7 weeks was diagnosed with a subchronic hematoma. It measured a bit over 4cm. I was put on strict bed rest and progesterone supplements for 3 weeks, and then had another u/s at 9 weeks. The SCH had shrunk to 2 cm (about the same size as the baby) My doctor kept me on bed rest (somewhat less strict) and progesterone. I have another u/s at 13 weeks, and I hope to be able to be up and around again then. I have had no bleeding since week 9. Fingers crossed!!

I wrote in on June 13th....Here's an update.....I had my appointment with the specialist yesterday. I have to say I was kinda disappointed. He didn't really tell me anything more than I already knew. I asked the size of my "bleed" and they said it really didn't matter and his focus is how is baby doing? Is baby adjusting to having to share it's environment with the pool of blood? He seemed to think that this thing will just disappear and that a hematoma is so common. He wants to see me back in four weeks to make sure baby is still growing and adapting. I asked about premature labor and he said all he could give me was statistics but nothing concrete to my exact situation. We may know something closer to actual due date,
but maybe not. I am now 17 weeks.
I am on bedrest still....although the specialist did say that there is much controversy over bedrest helping at all.
I am still spotting dark brown which he said will probably continue for some time. Baby is doing great by the way!
We got to see all the little parts, rejoicing over the fact that it's still growing well and right on track. I have an another u/s on June 30th for my regular DR so maybe they can give me a few more answers. I guess all we can do is wait. Am I the only one that stuggles with waiting? :0)

This is an update for all you ladies. I was first diagnosed with a bleed at 7 weeks, i bled ALOT, then bleed ALOT again at 13weeks, I am now at 19 weeks, with NO MORE BLEEDING. My hematoma absorbed and the baby is fine. Just keep your chin up gals, I know what you are all going through, its very scary, being scared to breathe or move, but things do get better, they do reabsorb, so my prayers are with all of you:) Take care

I lost a baby at 9 weeks gestation on 3/19/05 to a subchorionic hematoma (see earlier post). I am now 7 weeks with a subsequent pregnancy and they found another SCH. What are the benefits of progesterone in treeating SCH and should I demand this treatment? What else should I request? Once again - bed rest was never discussed.

I had an ultrasound last Thursday when I was 6 wks 3 days, they found some "cystic" material in my endomerial cavity that might possibly be a subchorionic bleed or they even said it could be a blighted ovum or a molar pregnancy...we got to hear the heartbeat at 118 bpm, now have any of you heard of hearing a fetal heartbeat and still having a blighted ovum or a molar??? I am just crying and crying over this....please if you have any information please let me know....

Hi Diane - Congrats on getting pregnant again but sorry to hear you've got another hematoma. I'd get your doctor to do a blood test to see if your prone to blood clots as you don't normally get hematomas twice in a row apparently. If you are prone to them the doctor can put you on some drugs to stop this happening (I think it heparin and baby aspirin but not sure). I don't know if progesterone will help but again you can get a blood test to see if your progesterone is low. My doctors told me that all the research showed bedrest makes no difference - if you're going to miscarry you miscarry anyway but it's a personal choice whether to go on bedrest or not. In my case things got worse when I was on bedrest voluntarily (clot doubled) so I stopped it and things improved. Most people with hematomas do go on to have normal pregnancies (albeit with a lot of bleeding) so keep hoping and good luck with it.

Hi ???- One of my many miscarriages
was a blighted ovum and we never heard a heartbeat- the fact that you did
sounds encouraging. Hang in there.
Bedrest seems to be per Dr. not always a guarantee that it helps. I know exactly how you feel about just waiting...it's hard, maybe impossible to
have so much hanging in the balance.
I am hoping that my own spotting stops at 19-20 weeks like so many other success stories.

hi everyone..my first post was on jun 7...i thought i ll update you'll on my story..after a few days episode of bleeding i was dignosed that day of a subchronic bleed in the uterus which was quite big and was bleeding and spotting brown until a week back, when it just stopped..touch wood that it doesnt happen again..well went for a sono on the 21st...the sch is almost totally resolved itself and the baby is growing fine...i was so relieved.
I think the very strict bed rest i was on and loads of praying really helped.
So just keep the faith going.

Hello Everyone,
I may be the only male on this site but in case there are more of you (husbands) I know what you are going through. My wife got pregnant on her 3rd ivf attempt which was great news (our first child). Not so good was the SubC Hem that became apparent after 7 weeks and some very heavy red bleeding. She is now 11 weeks, on bed rest and progesterone injections. I have become her nurse! Just remember that as tough as it is on the husbands, it is 1000X more difficult on the wives. We are hoping for the best...for us and for you all.

I also just had another ultrasound (at 12 weeks) and they found no trace of the hematoma. They think it had been absorped into my bloodstream. I ended up being on bedrest and progesterone supplements for nearly 6 weeks, but it looks like it worked! I hope it works out for everyone- best wishes!

I posted about a month ago at 9 weeks pregnant... I was on bedrest for the entire month of June and went back to the doc yesterday- the SCH is completely healed, no trace of it at all! So I am off bedrest at 13 weeks, but my doc did say there could be an increased risk of a preterm delivery... but we'll cross that bridge when we get there! There's hope!!!
