I was just wondering why I have to wait until my six week appointment to get birth control? Why can I not have now? My baby is almost a month old, and me and hubby have been s_xually active again already. I would really to have some birth control because I do not want another one just yet.

Kayla, i was given birth control at my 2 week checkup, to be taken 2weeks after. I suppose you should ask your doctor about why you cant get it. i havent started taking it yet because we havent even started to have s_x, and i am afraid my milk will decrease (even more so)...

my doc explained to me that he didnt want to give me birth control because techinally we were not supposed to be having s_x until after my six week appointmen(that is when i got my birth control) he said i was supposed to wait because your boddy is trying to get rid of extra hormones and its not good to pump it with more while your trying to heal. maybe if you told your doc your are s_xually active again he would make an exception. good luck

We started having s_x at two weeks postpartum because I felt good and could not wait any longer. I have begged him and he says not yet. They scheduled my 6 week appointment at 8 weeks postpartum. So I have to wait an extra 2 weeks. I think I may just go to the health clinic and let them get me started on it.

well, you were not supposed to have s_x until after the post-partum check up anyway. no excuses! if no one will give you birth control, there's this thing called a "condom" that may get you through it until the check-up. good luck!

they want women to wait because of the lochia discharge & at least allow your v____a to heal before you stick anything in it, which also meant no tampons, douching, anything.

I stopped bleeding about 3 days after my daughter was born. I had a check up at two weeks postpartum and the doctor said everything was great, and we have been using protection. He told me s_x was my choice and I could if it was comfortable to me. He told me to wait at least two weeks so that I was healed good enough for my st_tches to hold. Condoms occasionally break, that is why I wanted birth control too, just to be extra safe. I am a nursing student, so I no all about why you should wait six weeks to have s_x but I had never heard why you have to wait six weeks for birth control.
