Hey Angel...I have heard lots of different things about the ovulation after a D&C. I hear that 2-3 wks post m/c many people ovulate. Also, I have heard that directly after first period people ovulate a lot as well. It just kinda depends.....I found out at 11.5 weeks that my baby died at 7.5 weeks....that was on the 17th. I tried to wait for it to pa__s naturally but couldn't do it so ended up with D&C on the 24th. Sounds like you had this happen around the same time as me =(. I was told to try wait to ttc until I have had one period...which I will do. But I am eager to try again since I do have the PCOS and I know it may take more time. I have noticed that lots of people get pregnant within three months of m/c pretty easily so I want to try to use that to our advantage. About m/c with PCOS....I found out that m/c rates are higher than people without it. I think it was somewhere around 40% to the 10% without. But the good news is that metformin is supposed to reduce the risk of m/c for us....too bad I didn't know that till after the fact. You should ask your doc to put you on it. With my insurance it only costs $5 a month and you don't need any special monitoring while on it. It can also help you get pg again. =) I would love to share information and experiences with you since we have the same issues. When and how did you find out you had PCOS....sometimes I wonder how bad I have it....I really don't think I have it that bad, but I do have quite a few of the symptoms I read about. Well...let me know how you are doing. Believe me I know how you are feeling right now...it sucks! But luckily we have good medicine and will most likely have a healthy baby someday =)

Hi Angel - I ovulated 5 weeks after D&C and got a BFP 7 weeks after D&C. It seems to be different for everyone, depending on how quickly your body recovers. I am normally a slow healer in any way. It can range from 2-6 weeks after D&C, and occasionally shorter or longer than that. Baby dust.

Hallo HW, I can tell u my hole long story. I went off the pill in October 2002 and when i did not get any sign of my periods i went to the doc. he gave me provera to bring it on and still nothing happened so he said i had a sist and i went in for a laparoscopy. there after i used clomits and i did not fall preggies. And i felt that i did not get any joy with this doc so this was about in 2003 i went to another doc a woman and she has send me for blood tests and stuff and she found out that my sugar were very high and she send me to a dietrician ect she also perscribed me glucophagewich i had used for quite some time. then i tried to fall preggies againshe gave me also clomihexal but she have let me used it for seven months and i did not know about the danger of beeing on it for so long and when i realised she was also messing around i went to a doc in JHB krugersdorp who told me that my uterus is now so thined out of all those pils if i was to have a baby it will never be strong enouth to support the baby, so we stop the trying for about 7 -9 months and then i met this doc in alberton and he has put me on more aggresive treatment, he also used profasi 5000 injection and clomits and i fell preggies after only 3 months with him. we where very exited and only 3 weeks after we founded out i had a bit of a brounish discharge on the 6of may and i went to him and he said everyting is fine as long it is brown but then on the friday the 7th at work it was just blood and i was rushed back to him were i waited for 3 hours to see him. He did a scan and the baby was fine and i saw the heartbeat and everything. I had a treatend m/c and was put into hospitalfor 3 days. The sunday he did another scan, by this time the bleeding stopped and when he did the scan everything was fine. On the monday at home the bleeding was back, i phoned him and heperscibed me more of the uterogestone and also said i must use more of it but i think the baby died already by then cause the wednesday i was dying of the pain and went back to my doc and he confirmed that the baby died, so i had to go for the d&c. This is basically my hole story so .... if you would like to tell me yours i will be very glad cause then we can share our experiences. I had the D&C on the 12 May 2005.

Angel, I was diagnosed with PCOS after having long cycles (starting at 35 days and eventually going to 60 days). They did an ultrasound which showed cysts on both ovaries. My lab work came back pretty normal so I don't have the hormone imbalance as most people with PCOS, but most of the symptoms. I was put on metformin 1500 mg /day in Oct 2004 and conceived in Feb 2005. I quit taking the metformin and ended up with m/c. They don't know why it happened. I don't think I'm too bad off but you never really know until you try again....Geez you have really been through a lot! I really hope we can get pg again soon. Are you trying now or are you waiting?

Hey! I read somewhere the other day that some women don't ovulate up to 2-3months after their d&c. Has anyone heard anything about this? I miscarried at 11w1d with baby stopping growing at 8w 5d :( I had a D&C on March 15 and got my period 5 weeks later. We started trying straight after that, with the consent of my dr & I thought I was preg last month cos had all the symptons, but my body was playing tricks on me (which is pretty common apparently). Im doing opk at home, but keeps reading negative. Could I not be ovulating yet?? This whole process is heaps more confusing that I thought!! xx

christa - June 4

i had a d/c june 2, and as soon as my first period comes, we're going to ttc straight away. baby dust and good luck to you as well

Kara - June 4

Em - I waited three months before we started trying, but my body did lots of crazy things for the first 10 weeks afterwards. I would cramp a full week before my period. My period would be really irregular and I had some breakthrough bleeding. Everybody is different, but I highly doubt that I could have gotten prenant even if I wanted to before the third month.

Hi Em, some women's bodies takes longer to recover than others. There are a lot of stories on this site of women falling pregnant a week after D&C or m/c. What seems to be common in these stories all the time is that ovulations does not necessarily occur when it normally would or you would expect it to. For some it's a week, for others it's up to 8-9 weeks. Your body will not conceive until it's ready, the lining has rebuilt properly etc.I fell pg again before having an af after d&c, ovulation was about 5 weeks afterwards. I am now 13 weeks pg and have had no complications so far (let's hope it continues). Patience seems to be the only thing while ttc (I lack severely in that department). Good luck and baby dust!

Thanks for replying Christa and Kara. Its now day 16 of my cycle and the opk still is negative. It also says on the box that not every woman ovulates every month - well that's just great timing isn't it?! I'm in my third month after m/c so are desperate to try this month but no real point if not ovulating right? My cycle may just be totally out of whack I guess and maybe I'm testing for O too early in my cycle, it used to be on the 13 day of the month but both my periods have been whacky since the m/c and d&c - 38days and 33days. Do you know of anyone that didn't ovulate for more than 3 months after m/c? I guess I'll just keep ttc for the next 2 weeks and maybe I'll ovulate somewhere in there. Well that's going to be exhausting isn't it?! ;) Kara - are you trying now or are you preg already?

Fe - June 6

I had a d&c on the 12 of march, i was 11.4 weeks preg with twins. I have since had 1 period and waiting for the second to come. I have had 4 mc's in a row now and we are not trying untill we find out what is happening. The last pregnancy was concieve after 1 period after a another D&C. Good luck ladies.. my fingers are crossed for you.

Kara - June 6

Fe - I am so sorry to hear about your babies. My heart just breaks for you. I think that's great that you are being pro-active about finding a cause of your losses. A client of mine suffered six before they did testing. Hers was low thyroid. Now has three kids w/ no more problems. I have just read the best book. It's called "A Few Good Eggs". Its about infertility and reoccurent pregnancy losses. The two woman who wrote it spoke directly to my heart. There is also lots of info about possible problems and testing that should be done. They also describe all the tests and what to expect. They are also big on being your own patient advocate and demanding the care that you and your babies deserve. Best wishes to you and good luck with your testing.

my doc told me there was no need to wait till first af after m/c to start trying again, m/c @ 8 weeks no d&c.

staci - June 14

its been awhile since being on this thread. just wanted to share an update here, I m/c last week 6/8 @8.5 weeks. We had seen the heartbeat again this time as we did last time when I had my first m/c on 3/28. We are so sad and devastated but know it will get better, afte rhaving been through it before, I knwo there are brighter days ahead. I am going in for a f/u appt next week and think she is going to start running some basic tests to see if there are any flags as to why this is happening. I dont think I want to try again until we've looked into all options out there to test us. I had another D&C with this one and this time around I am bleeding longer and having more cramps and tissue this time...anyone else suffer this too?

Sandra - June 14

Staci - I am so sorry to hear of your loss. You're in my thoughts and prayers.

staci - June 14
