I had an Mirena IUD put in on july 09, 2008. I was told that since it was put in during my period that I was protected imm. after. I had a sono done at my job three weeks later to make sure it was in and it was so I had unprotected s_x with my boyfriend thinking I was safe. I started to feel a lot of pain and had another sono done on the 6th of aug to see if everything was ok and they said that it appears to be coming out. The pain cont'd so I did a pregnancy test this morning and it was POSITIVE. I don't know what to do, I have read so many things about getting pregnant while on the iud and I dont know if I should leave it or take it out. I never wanted to be pregnant in the first place but I dont want to cause a miscarriage either.

I would go to the doctors immediately or er - I've hear that if it is coming out, it will be easier for them to take it out without complicating the pregnancy as much. Good luck

Well!!!! They took it out and so far so good. The doctor said that leaving it in can be both a good and a bad thing. He felt very comfortable with the idea of taking it out and he did. I can't wait to get past the three months mark when I know for sure that my baby and I are out of harms way.
