When Could I Have Gotten Pregnant

I have been having unprotected intercourse for several months. I was told years ago that I would not be able to get pregnant without help and so didn't rush to get my birth control prescription renewed. I went to the doctor today for my annual and a new prescription, and the urine pregnancy test came back positive. They took a blood test but I won't get the results back for a day or two. My last menstrual cycle started on the 29th of August. I had s_x on the 2nd and again last night. I'm positive last night would be too soon, but if I got pregnant on the 2nd could it show 8 days later? Or could I have somehow been pregnant and still had a period? It came exactly when it was supposed to and lasted 4 days, which is very normal for me. It wasn't light or weird at all.

If the test is accurate it would have to have been from the previous cycle. Implantation takes 7-10 days from conception and 8 days on a test would not be able to pickup hcg yet. Some women do have bleeding during pregnancy (not a period) but as you stated, it is generally shorter and lighter than a normal period. Unfortunately, you just have to wait for the blood test to be certain. Tell the doctor about your last period and if you are pregnant they will give you an early scan to date your pregnancy. Good luck and post back when you get the results.

I had an ultrasound to check for cysts today and also got my blood results back. Blood tests says I am pregnant, but hormone levels are 650? Not really sure what that means but she says it means it's happened very recently. Ultrasound shows an empty uterus. I have also been bleeding and cramping since my pap smear yesterday. The nurse says that's normal but that if it gets severe go to the emergency room since there's still a chance for an ectopic pregnancy. I guess I did get pregnant on the second.. Seems really really really early, but she said it's been since my last period, that it really was a period and not just first trimester bleeding like the doc originally thought. I'll have another blood test Monday to give us better results, I guess.. I'm not exactly sure right now what's going on.
