This might be nothing, but I've been thinking about it the past few days so am asking. I'm 27 and have always been fairly regular with my periods.
In October I got my period on Oct 11, and had unprotected s_x on Oct 23. My boyfriend withdrew and I wasn't too worried about the possibility of being pregnant. I thought my next period had started on the night of Nov 10 when I noticed a bit of bleeding, but when I woke up the following morning there was almost nothing overnight. That day and the following day I got a bit of bleeding in patches (I only needed a liner), and thinking it may have been implantation bleeding I took 2 pregnancy tests, the first one was invalid and the second negative. I got more bleeding the next two days that was a bit heavier, not as much as a normal period but enough to use tampons. I assumed it was just a weird period at the time, and last month (Dec) my period came about 5 days early but other than that was normal.
I told a friend recently that I'd had unprotected s_x and got an unusual period after it (I've never experienced that before). I knew I definitely wasn't pregnant because I'd had a normal period since, but she mentioned chemical pregnancy. I don't know much about it, so wanted to know if there is any chance that is what it was, or just an unusual period. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

Hmm. You had poorly protected s_x in the fertile window. All sorts of possibilities exist. The egg can get fertilized but then fail to implant, or start to implant but fail within the first few days. Neither situation would give you a positive test, but the second might upset your cycle somewhat. Once the embryo gets firmly established you could expect a positive test, perhaps followed by a miscarriage. If you do not want a pregnancy, you need to improve your contraceptive practice. GL!

Thanks for answering. I'm not trying to get pregnant, but I wouldnt mind if I was. I am mostly just wondering if it was likely that is what happened and if it means I could have similar problems in the future. I don't know if it's possible to know for sure though.
