lol and do most hospitals allow you to do water births providing everything in your labour is going good?

I think you have to go to a special hospital or something for water births because my hospital doesn't provide them. So check with your hospital... You might want to repost this somewhere else, like infant care or labor questions. I think they'd be more help.

i've actually been looking into water births too. our hospital does them and i've heard it's wonderful for women wanting to go without meds. ooh! and we had our next ultrasound and it's a girl for sure lol. and i even lost 2 lbs (1 kilo for my pommies out there) so i've gained a total of 4lbs (2 kilos) in 20 weeks.

You're lucky, by 20 weeks I had gained 15 pounds, by the end of my pregnancy I gained a total of 36 pounds... Now it's one month postpartum and I'm 15 pounds heavier than my pre-pregnancy weight :( I need to find time to do some crunches or something!

To answer your question, it depends on where u live. The water birth trend is growing so much that in most states it's an option in a lot of their hospitals. I will say if you are thinking about it you should go for it. I know that I had false labor and got into the tub and it did wonders for me. Also I wanted and had planned on a water birth or at least to get in the tub during labor, it was offered at both hospitals here in town, buuuuut lucky me....I had to go to the er for preclampsia and be induced and they wouldn't let me get into the tub. It sucked bcuz during the worst part of my labor I just let my body take over and begged them to let me do what my body was asking for but they wouldn't, and my body was asking for that friggin tub. A good thing to do is contact midwives in your area, or contact the hospital, or even talk to your doctor about wanting to get information on the hospital where you plan to deliver, you should be able to find out that way if they do water births if it's not on the hospital's website. Good luck!!
