It won't be dangerous to your baby even if, theoretically, the scans are wrong, because you'll be 37 weeks. I think it's a good idea for you to be induced and I hope nothing is discouraging you.

My U/S tech was right on with her estimates. A few days before i was 37 weeks she estimated my dd at 8 LBS!! I couldn't believe it. A few days later my water broke i was right at 37 weeks and she was 8lbs 4 oz. So that seems pretty accurate to me.

no amanda nothing will discourage me i know its best for my baby and your right by the time they induce me i,ll be atleast 38 weeks so she,s be fine anyway and i mean if this is my 6th scan i doubt they would of got it wrong all 6 times! and even if me being induced causes a c-section oh well because the way i see it is if i refuce to be induced and i go 2 weeks late she,s be close to 11lbs so im sure it would end up in c-section anyway...................newbaby her head is down so hopefully she keeps it there........she seems to have cold feet she had her head 1/5 away from being fully engaged and now she,s pulled it right out lol!

It is well known that if i would have been induced with my 1st then I would most likely have delivered v____ally, because of the induction, it caused cord compression, a emergency C-sec that lasted 2 mins from the first incision, ma__sive blood loss leading to a blood transfusion,5 days in the hospital, and 4 weeks after that i could barely move....then of course that lessened my chances of any v____al delivery from there on out...So not taking sides, but considering my mother gave birth to a 10lb 10oz baby and said it was easier for her then her other two labors with 7ish lb babies, i think it is better to let nature take its course. look at the statistics, and the risen rates of women going from natural labor to induced/ C-sec....These dr now days schedual your labor day for their convieniance, and come up with a foul excuse for why you should agree with them. big baby i understand, but you labor naturally and if things dont go according to bad, oh well you tried but the baby was too big. I was estimated to have a huge baby and i had a baby that was at least 2 weeks late and weighed 7.8....I believe first time moms should not be induced.....but i wish you the best of luck, and i am sure everything will go just fine...just wanted to say that lunamoo isnt completely wrong. If i knew then what i knew now, i think my birth stories would be alot different!

WHen I said natural, I meant v____al, which is why I said "well rather, v____al delivery." I see more women getting c-sections after induction when they don't dilate, or are only 1 cm and can not expand past that.
But Lunamoo is right about weight being off. I know a few people who had regular ultrasounds due to pregnancy issues, and each was an expected weight, it was off a lb and a half or so. But each is different. I KNEW this time that Victoria would be significantly bigger than Addy. Addy was only 6 lbs 1 oz (5 lb 11 oz the day she came home) Victoria didn't lose any weight and was 7 lb 7 oz.
Trust you INTUITION more than anything. If you think this is the right decision, and you have a good feeling about it, do it. But you have every right to refuse it, if you're feeling bad about it. I had to have the induction, which was fine with me at 39 weeks, but man, I thought I would go sooner as Addy was born at 37 weeks! BIG surprise that I went that much farther, especially with my preterm labor probs lol.

im pretty sure they have it right thats she,s big i mean 6 scans and thye can feel how big she is from examining my belly, the midwife says she feels like a 40 week fetus...........im thinking they may have even got my dates wrong which is dangourous as if they have and im further along whne im 40 weeks she could be 43 weeks or something...............im not saying lunmoo is wrong just that i,s rather try and give birth v____aly and if being induced causes a c-section then oh well thats how it would of ended up anyway
db i was a small frame to start of with if my baby messures over 10lbs at 40 weeks they will advise it safer for a c-section anyway...........trying to deliver something over 10lbs is considered dangourous these days and can cause the baby a lot more stress and will most likely end in a c-section anyway so to me being induced actually seems safer than trying to force something out of me thet probably wont fit, cause her distress and end up in a c-section..............i dont see much difference except i probably have less chance of that happening with being unduced
sorry to hear that you had traumatic birth due to being induced but still how many people on this thread have been induced and how many has it caused problems for?
it all depends on what my next scan says anyway

Ellie's weight scans were pretty accurate too. It's very plausible that she's big since I recall you saying something about Tonie being a big baby. Good luck with your scan.

welll i was told i wa having a big baby and i did, but i didnt get induced until i was late. My doctor refused to do it early, we tried the sweeping of membranes like 3 times and finally he induced me because i was dialating, i was almost 4 and i was completely 100% effeced and everything but i had no contractions, and he came out v____ally, I would wait a little bit until your at least at 40 weeks, some of these girls are so eger to have the baby they dont wait. and if you hit 40 then go away, big babies arent bad honestly. They are less fragile and either way you have never had anything come ot of your v____a so you dont know what to expect so you wont be able to really tell the difference from a big baby or a small one

gucci she,s estiamted to weigh about 10lbs at 40 weeks which is why if my next scan says she,s still big they want to induce me then (well give or take a few days)
yes amanda he weighed about 13lbs i think so i really dont want her that big lol! i,d say just over 9lbs will be fine by me lol

The only thing that bothers me is women are deciding to be induced/have their babies early because they're excited to be done with pregnancy and meet their little one. Or because they are uncomfortable. They dont have the babies best interest in mind. Its proven the most healthy babies are born at 40 weeks. Having a big baby isnt a medical reason to be induced. Most doctors who push that are just seeing dollar signs. Where i go wont induce before 39 weeks unless its completely necessary for medical reasons. Isnt it better to wait a couple weeks and have your baby at his/her healthiest?

newbaby i a__sure you i have her best interests at heart! i,d rather her be born v____aly at a healthy weight and not via c-section or put through stress trying to be squeezed out.........our hospital system is completly different toy yours, we dont have insurance we have something called the NHS we dont have to pay for any of our hospital care in the uk, well we pay it thrugh taxes ect but we dont like get a bill after giving birth so its not in their interests to get more money ect, they are genuinaly concerend for her health....its more of the fact that if she is big because my dates are wrong it could be dangoruos as i could be up to 4 weeks ahead so going to 40 weeks could really be 44 weeks................its mostly because she shows signs and feels full term! so 40 weeks...........i totally trust the doctors here in the uk not half are induced compared to america its a rare thing here your only induced if you go up to 2 weeks late or for a medical reason

yea babies born at 38 weeks are usually ok. Rylie was 38 weeks 3 days and she was ok. Just a low temperature. Problems tend to start when the an intended 37-38 week v____al delivery turns into a c-section. Being delivered through the birth ca___l helps the babies lungs prepare to breathe air, babies born via c-section dont get that extra help. As the baby comes through the birth ca___l its chest is squeezed which clears fliud from the lungs. Babies born vis c-section beofre 40 weeks are much more likely to have breathing problems.

oh yea i read that soemwhere about it helping there lungs........well i,ll be 37 weeks 3 days when i have my scan and if they decided to induce me i,d be atleast 38 weeks.................lets just hope it doesnt end in c-section although im sure she,l still be fine she,s just need a bit of help with her lungs

Hey Angel - I just thought I would chuck my 2 cents in - My waters broke at just over 40 weeks but my contractions were really week for over 24 hours and not progressing so the doc induced me using pitcion (sp) - this well and truely bought the contractions on ha ha. They induced me at 8 am and I had my bubba girl at 10.20pm - I ended up getting an epidural around 4pm (slept for 4 hours :)) then woke up and was ready to push - pushed for about an hour and a half with no luck (probably due to epi) and then they did a vacuum delivery. I went into labour with the view of having a natural birth but as things progressed we made the decisions that were best for us at the time - basically I am just trying to say trust your intuition and of course your mid wife - I am sure whether you get induced or not your birth will go fine and you will be on here very soon sharing the wonderful magical details! Good luck and cant wait to hear your story. :)

Hey my induction went great an angel, I think you do have her best interests at heart. Some can say c sect is bad for baby, so best of luck to you. Addy at 37 weeks had no problems btw
