Ambiguous Results For Glucose Challenge Test

Hey ladies, was hoping you could help me out with this. The day before yesterday I did my glucose tolerance test. (1 hr test) Drank the stuff at 9:30AM, had blood taken at 10:30AM and didn't eat anything beforehand. I called about 4 hours later for my results and spoke with the nurse (not the dr. who generally has all the info). She said my number was 139 and that I was "well within normal range". I persisted and made her emphasize that I do not have gestational diabetes and she said, nope you don't. I hung up. Then I called back because I remember I don't know what the range was and 139 sounds high in comparison to other stories I have heard. When I ask her what the range is, she says it tops out at 140 so I am one point under and she doesnt know if I will need to take the 3 hr test or not. My question is this: Because I was 1 point under does that mean I will not have to do the 3 hour test? Does it mean I am borderline and will most likely have to do the 3 hour test? Or what do you ladies think??? I googled the heck out of this and everyone i read who had a 139 out of a 140 range didn't have to do it because their doctor said they were within 'good range', but I'm a bit of a worry wart. I have my Third tri OB appt on Thursday so I will know for sure when I talk to my dr. then but I am just a bit paranoid. Thanks in advance for your help!

No, you don't have to take the 3 hr test. Especially considering that the 1hr test isn't always so accurate and gives plenty of women a high score when they do NOT have GD only goes to show that the fact you scored in the normal range is a good sign.

I doubt they'll have you do the 3 hour test. In the normal range is in the normal range, even if it's at the high end. If it makes you feel better, I think my number was somewhere around 172. They had me do the 3 hour test, and it came back perfectly normal.

I got a 140 on my one hour, and had to do the 3 hour. I was a bit irritated having to do it with a "barely failing" score, since the cutoff was 140. I ended up pa__sing the 3 hour with flying colors, I was just really annoyed to have to do it at all (its kind of a pain lol). But anyway, I was just at that mark, and was told basically if I scored one point less I'd of not had to do it. Figures, right? lol. But anyway yeah you shouldn't have to do it. Be glad, cause its super annoying! :)
