Does anyone think that wearing a maternity belt will prevent you from going into labor? I am wanting to go into labor and want to do alot of walking but I also want to were the maternity support belt to help my back/hip/pelvis pain, should I go without it and deal with the pain or should I be ok. Like I said I am wanting to walk alot to help kick things in gear but I don't want to prevent the process by wearing the belt Thanks in advance for advice.

Congratulations April. Welcome Jack. Thanks for sharing your story, makes labor sound totally doable (especially with an epidural). So glad to hear you are home and all is well.
I still have the snifflles (really tired of it by now) but I do feel more human. My energy levels are so odd. Today I altrenated between running around doing hous chores and not being able to settle to having to lay down and not do anything for a while. Also took the neurotic cat to the vet for her annual physical. I'm proud of myself of getting stuff like that done before the little guy gets here. Thanx ladies for your support on the insurance issue, I have calmed down a little but I was seeing red for a while..

Good morning ladies. Hope you are all having a great weekend. Chris, sorry to hear you are so sore. It sounds like you have a fantastic att_titude and taking advantage of having a bit of a break. Mahagen, I thought that labor was a very chemical process, with hormones released to begin it, so while I have no info about the belt I'm kind of wonderng how it would prevent it. Got my stroller yesterday, was very excited...it takes very little to get me excited these days.

Good morning girls. Congrats APRIL on Jack's birth. 6#8oz is NOT too small. My dd was 6#13oz. Are his clothes huge on him though? I just kept Julia in those elasticsized sleep gowns most of the time and rolled up the cuffs so they fit her little arms. I did buy a few preemie outfits for when we left the house b/c anything 0-3 month was way to big on her for a few weeks, but it didn't take the girl long to outgrow those. By the time she was 2 months old she was 12.5 lbs (and they say they usually double their birth weight by 6 months-mine quickly turned into a chunky monkey! lol). Enjoy him! As for me, I constantly have contractions, especially in the venings, but they never get closer than 10 minutes apart and aren't really uncomfortable. So I've stayed at home. I'm very curious how dialted I'll be when they start labor Tuesday. I was almost 4cm last Wed. I guess that means labor will go pretty quickly since I am starting almost 1/2 way to complete dilation. Such VERY different experience than w/ Julia. I dragged dh and dd to my fave Mexican food restaurant 30 miles away last night hoping some spice might invoke Reece's exodus, but all it did was make him active ALL NIGHT LONG. I'm stilll here this morning. So far all those old wives tales have done nothing to jump start my labor: walking, s_x, spicy food. NADA! Unless they are responsible for the dialtion and effecment w/o labor??? I don;t know. CHRIS- You mentioned that your lo has been engaged for 4 weeks right? So has Reece. Someone pointed out to me that he's going to have a BIG TIME cone head b/c he's been in that position so long. What do you think? I hadn't thought of that, but it kind of makes sense.

I always find it interesting how people find it acceptable to share their opinions and mostly negative experiences w/ you when you're pg. Just a couple days ago in the grocery store a man (about 60 yeras old) asked when I was due, was it my first and so on. When I told him we have a7yo dd he said, "7 year difference. My grandkids are 4 years apart and that's a big age difference. Nothing like 7 years though. I wonder how that'll be." I felt like saying, "Who the hell asked you?" This man took no thought at all at the possibliity that we had workled thru infertility after our dd's birth. Or that it took us 3 tries at IVF to get this lo. Nope, just out comes some unintelligent, and unsolicited opinion. Sorry for the spontaneous vent. It just gets me. Have a great day all. I'm trying to take in my last 2 days before Reece joins this big, crazy world. :)

Melissa, it's amazing how when you are pregnant EVERYONE has an opinion that they share quite cheerfully without thinking how it might make you feel! That guy sounds like an idiot! What does he know about your life and experiences and every age difference has things that are special about it and that are challenging, and people don't think that these things are not always planned the way they come out!!!! I join you in your vent and add my own: My mom who I love so much and is usually so sensitive is now a__suming that everything about my labor is going to be just like hers which drives me nuts because if it's anything I'm trying to do is go into labor with no preconceptions and expectations, I just told her that the little guy will come when he comes and when I have serious contractions I'll go to the hospital and other than that I really don't want to think about it...even if she is my mother every women's body is different and you can't even a__sume that your own body will react the same to different pregnancies and labors, so how can you make a__sumptions on how you will do based on your mother or sister or whoever....

Sooo very true. This ismy second baby and up until about week 35 was an alomst carbon copy (except for the prevenative progesterone shots) of my pg w/ dd. Then all of a sudden, everything that could be differnet has been. The bottom line is every pg is different, and babies come when THEY are ready. Period.

Hi Everyone, So sounds like we have a few more babies coming this next week! So exciting! I just thought I'd say hi as I have a quick moment. My lo is absolutely adorable (not to brag, ok, I'm bragging!). We had a great 2nd night home and we're getting the hang of the b___st feeding. My left b___st has been engorged & Ford has had trouble getting the milk to come down, but we have started making some slow progress this afternoon. April, so glad Jack is doing well. My mom had to go buy a few preemie outfits as everything we had was so huge. But I know he'll be in those outfits soon. I have to get my staples out on Tuesday & we go see the pediatrician also so I guess that will be our first outing! I can't believe how great I feel after having major surgery. Blessings to all & keep us updated!

BRANDY- I'm sure you've already gotten help on the negorgment inssue, but in case you haven't...when thathappened to me it was suggested to try 1)a warm cpmpress or shower for a few minutes to stimulate flow before baby tries to latch on and 2) put a cold (been in the fridge) cabbage leaf in your bra to wear in between feedings (I know it sounds silly, but believe me it really works - some sort of natural chemical response to what is in the cabbage - and it was recommended by dd's pediatrician, not some old wives tale). Trust me both these work, and will make you A LOT more comfy. I can't wait to join you in the "bf'ing club". I LOVED nursing my dd. It creates such an intense bond. :)
