K2 - remind me, exactly how many weeks are you? I ask b/c you said the baby's 5.5-6 lbs. Jack's 5lbs, 10oz and my doctor says he's on the small end of the scale for 38 wks, so I'm kinda double checking him (the dr.) Sarah & Melissa - oh my god, Austin traffic is bad. My dh commutes from way south (Davis and Mopac) to north 183, and it's a nightmare for him. My beef is with people at 4-way stops who don't know how to take turns and seem they'd be perfectly happy to sit there at the intersection all day. As for circ_mcision, we've decided not to do it. I was uncomfortable with the idea b/c of the pain and possible (though minor and unlikely) complications, but I left the ultimate decision up to dh, since I figure he can relate more. He did a lot of research and decided that he wasn't strongly compelled by any of the reasons to do it. As for the 3 different ways, I don't know anything about that, so I'm babbling and probably not much help - lol. - April

I am 36 weeks today! And they've told me at each appt that she was on the small side only this time they said she was good to go.. not a mention of her being pet_te or small... Good luck with baby Jack!!! he will be fine i'm sure but have you decided yet on what you'd like to do??? BTW- you look great in your pregnant picture!!!! Gosh guys can you just fathom how close we all are... i mean we can come in here tonight or tomorrow and all the sudden not hear from someone for a few days and then get told they had their baby.. any day now for any of us and i seriously come on here waiting to see someone had their baby!!!! Now we are just awaiting the pics of cute little baby Justin so what the heck are you waiting for ROBYN!!! LOL just kidding it is probably hectic for you right now but we're all TRYING to be patient... lol TRYING is the key word...

Yeah, patience has not been a virture of mine lately - lol. No, we haven't decided for sure what to do. Right now, I'm leaning towards going with what the dr suggested - inducing next wk. I really trust Dr. N, and I know there's no way to know for sure what the right thing is, but since I'm past 38 wks, I'm thinking induction is the safe thing to do. Dh and I are going to discuss it further tonight and talk with the dr at our appt tomorrow morning to make a final decision. - April

sarah21 - February 21

Ohhhh Robyyyynnnn!!! Where are you?!!! Are you trying to act like you have something better to do than be on here with us? Huh huh huh? Sigh. I need pictures dang it!

cayingo - February 21

I'm back from my appt and am now 3cm. She also scheduled my induction date, although she keeps saying I won't need it, for March 4th at 5am. She gave me a Rx for my lovely hemerhoids, told me to try the milk of magnesia again tonight hopefully giving relief that I didn't get from last night's dose, and directions to stay home from school again tomorrow to "work thru all of this." If th milk of mag doesn't eleviate the severe discomfort I'm having she said to do an enema. The goal here is "clean out" what is irritating my intestines either with the laxative or the enema because feeling like this and THEN going into labor would be plain old hell. Why is my ASS giving me such a difficult time???? I am so cranky and uncomfortable it's not even remotely funny. Damn d__n d__n!!!!! I want this to go away. Calm down, Melissa. Deep cleansing breaths. Thanks for the details baout the circ_mscision decision. We talked about that today w/ my OB. I feel better about our choice and DH is definitely wanting Reece to be.

Hey chickadees! Every time I come on here I expect to hear about a new baby. Its so weird to know that we are all having those aches and pains and things that tell us labor will happen soon. So strange to know that weve come sooo far and it seems like the time has flown. I cant believe that I found out about this little boy all the way back in July and now its here?! WEIRD. In 13 days or less I am going to be the proud mommy of a boy.. its so weird to have blue in my house. In amongst all the tutu's, princess outfits and ballet shoes, there is BLUE and tonka trucks? CRAZY! April: You're belly is beautiful. As far as knowing whats best.. I think you have to trust your doctor. If he thinks that things are going to be okay with you and Jack, and you truly trust him, it should be definatly something you consider. Good luck with your choice. Melissa: Are you feeling better now? I hope so. As far as circ_mcision.. even though Ive done my research I had to leave the decision up to my dh.. and he strongly thinks we should do it. Our issue is that we have only ONE pediatrician in our city that is willing to do it.. so it might be hard to get that done. Im so so so nervous about the pain he might go through.. and it actually makes my stomach flip flop just thinking about it. As long as everything falls into place, hell probably have it done. K2: You sounded very very uncomfortable.. did they tell you what the bleeding was from? I had some when I was about 35ish weeks and he just said it was from my cervix. *shrugs*. Soon girls.. were going to be sharing baby pictures!! BTW.. just wondering.. is anyone else a cafemom.com member? ~Kristin~

Melissa, so sorry about those intestines. It doesn't sound like fun. I hate diarrhea and I hate constipation even more but seems like you're experiencing either one or the other. Hopefully this gets cleared up before Reece decides to poke his head out! K2, did you get your appointment? What did they say? Are you still pregnant? Kristin my husband would be so jealous with all the blue and tonka trucks. I told him he can still get Claire a tonka truck and she'll like it and he can play legos with her and stuff but he says it's just not the same. I always wanted my brother's toys anyway-- they were way cooler. I'm sure he'll get into dressing up barbie dolls soon enough. My dad and brother always made the barbies cross-dressers. Sad I know.

BAF - February 22

Morning Mommies! Robyn & Monica, hope you are enjoying your little ones, I am sooo jealous. Melissa, I am tenatively scheduled for an induction on the 4th as well! But I am hoping my baby decides to come on his own before that. Wow, that is only 11 days away. I go to the dr this morning at 10am so we'll see how much I've progressed. I am so miserable & had a bad day yesterday. I've tried walking, s_x, eating a dish people swear by and nothing...not one contraction. Oh well, I know my baby is in God's hands & I guess I need to relax & just wait it out. I'll update when I get back from the dr.

BRANDI- Good luck at your appt today. Up unti about 3 weeks ago I would have sworn this pg was destined to be a carbon copy of my first. Then EVERYTHING changed, and now it couldn't be any more different. My dd was apparently in a big hurry to get out, but this boy is happy where he is. Over the past 2 days he has so visibly dropped my belly looks completely different. ANd I've read second etc babies don't usually drop until in labor. Ha! Will this kid be proving everyone wrong always? Right now I am convinced he is in there with his tiny fists clinched tightly around my large intestine to prevent me from getting the complete relief I so desperately crave. So...I am home again from work for another day. I would MUCH rather be at work. My OB keeps saying "any day now", but she's been saying that for 2 weeks! When she scheduled my induction for the 4th she said "I really don't think you'll make it to this date, but I'll go ahead and schedule it b/c they usually come as soon as it's on the books." We'll see. I have a feeling I'm harboring a very stubborn little boy inside me. lol

kaylayoder - February 22

amen to that... my lil one, man i wish i knew what was keeping her in there, im 2cm -2 station and 100% effaced... i know she's dropped but nothin!!! been havin contractions, i wish they'd start hurting, how wierd is that to wish for pain???

cayingo - February 22

After Ob checked my cervix she said "please do not wait around long at home once you are uncomfortable with contractions. I think this labor will be pretty fast", DH and I were talking about what this labor is going to be like compared to our dd (her labor was about 36 hours with the first 24 at home/work and the last 12 in the hospital starting at 4cm). He admitted his fear was that since I am 3cm now and progressing each week that I'll be quite dilated before labor begins and we head to l&d, but that because of how dialted I am the rest of the dilation will be super fast. We live 30-45 minutes from the hospital (depending on traffic). He's concerned he may be delivering Reece on the side of the road. OMG!! That would suck SOOO much!

cayingo - February 22

Has anyone gotten specific instructions from their OB/midwives about when to actually call or make your way to l&d?

mahagen - February 22

Good morning ladies, I'm so excited that I have my 37 week check up today!!!! Hopefully we make it because school got cancelled due to snow and ice. I am going hell or high water. I don't want to miss it. I was bummed when I thought it was this last Wed. and found out it was Friday, ugh. With all 4 of my kids I have always looked forward to my doctor appointments. It's always my relief that they are ok and doing just fine. Cayingo, I dropped between 25-27 weeks with all my boys but my dd which was my last pregnancy, was breech so I had to schedule a version to have her turned then to be induced at 38 weeks. You are right that it is normal for the baby to wait and drop until right before labor if you have already had a baby.

Rainbowbrite - February 22

Hi ladies good morning!!! Everyone is definately more chatty this morning than yesterday... =) YAH!!! First off Sarah- yes i posted about my drs appointment yesterday- you must've just overlooked it! I actually think you posted right around the same time i did! I am not having my baby yet! i'm only 50% effaced and 1cm dilated but she says of course we can change and go at any time... she said my cervix is super soft which is a good thing i guess?? so we'll see if i have any progress between now and next Wednesday!!! As far as the whole having contractions and when to go to the hospital... MY midwife says to wait until they are 4 minutes apart lasting one minute and are continous for an hour.. they call it the 4-1-1 plan.... i'm SURE i won't wait that long as i do live 20-25 minutes from the hospital but we will see!!!! But that is the advice from my doc!!! Anyone else having constant cramps??? It started two nights ago and i am having cramps consistantly... and not cramps that come and go it is more like i feel like i'm on my period cramps that just don't go away... not BAD but just i can tell they are cramps... do i make any sense??? =)~

cayingo - February 22

So then, in your opinion, since I am already 3cm and he has very visibly dropped wouldn't you think I am not far away? I know I might as well be asking you to lookinto a crystal ball or something. I'm just getting very antsy. lol DH has made his prediction: SUNDAY. lol GL at your appt today. Geeze I'm glad we're not snowed in.

cayingo - February 22

You can definitely expect me to be on chatting more since I am not at work today, and have the house to myself. Cramps are a good sign of impending labor. That's what I felt 1st w/ dd. The cramps, then they became stronger in my back radiating to my belly. Quite uncomfortable really.
