My due date is May 30th 2008. My husband leaves for Iraq June 11th and i wanted to induce my labor on May 12th and wondered if that was to early.

It does seem pretty early to me, I would suggest maybe waiting another week or so after the 12th, just to be safe. It might be fine though, ask your doctor.

Yes that is early but I would talk to your doctor to see if they think baby is developed enough to bring him in the world. It could be pretty dangerous that early due to develpment. I hope it all works out for the best and good luck.

My first was induced evelven days early and everything was fine. I don't think I would have been comfortable going 18 days early.

I would really talk to your doctor about it. I think 18 days is a bit early... when I had my son, the earliest they would induce me was 1 week before my due date only because they didn't want me having a large baby. A lot of doctors won't induce just for "convenience".... they usually only want to do it if it is warrented..i.e. it is better for the baby to be outside the womb or better for the mother(pre-eclampsia), stuff like that. If your body and baby are not ready for induction, it can be a long exhausting process and can cause stress on the baby....and could cause an un-needed c-section. Try talking to your doctor and see if they will do it closer to 2 weeks or 1.5 weeks before your due date. I'm sure your baby will be healthy, but if there are no health concerns for you or your baby they may not do it. The ONLY reason my doctor induced me is because I was 108 pre-pregnancy, very small framed and she was concerned that if I had too large of a baby (over 8 lbs), that he would get stuck in the birth ca___l and I would need a c-section.......and she was prob. right because he was 7lbs 1oz. 2 weeks early and I had to push for 2.5 hours to get him out... any bigger and I don't think I would have been able to do it. They didn't want me waiting for my due date to induce just incase he was larger, and they definately didn't want me to go over my due date. Another option for you is talk to your doctor about stripping your membranes....this is a more "natural" I guess you could say, form of induction....if your body and baby are ready you could be in labor within 24 hours or sooner...if not ready, it won't work.

Your baby can be born anywhere from 37-40 weeks safely.....talk to your doctor about it. Come up with a plan and then full speed ahead

Most doctors won't induce before 39 weeks because even though 37 is considered full term, they can't give a 100% guarantee the baby's lungs will be developed. My son has a knot in his umbilical cord and I go for non-stress tests every Monday and also have monthly ultrasounds and they seem hesitant to even talk about doing my c-section at 38 weeks unless he shows signs of distress. I just went on bedrest last night for possible preterm labor so their views may change now. I had wanted to have my son at 37 weeks just so I would know he was safe and nothing could happen to him. My older daughter's birthday is may 12th by the way :) but she was born at 41 weeks and 2 days.
