I PASSED MY GLUCOSE TEST! I am very happy! No gestational diabetes. The doctor said that he was convinced this time, and I won't have to take ANOTHER one. However... I gained 8 pounds in 10 days! EEK! He said that it's got to be mostly water retention, so now he's starting to worry that I'll get toxemia. Sheesh, can't anything be easy? Anyway, I'm really starting to feel huge these days. I find it hard to believe that I still have 10 weeks to go. I can't imagine that I can get a whole lot bigger!

Hey girls! I'm 28 weeks today - yay! mcbee - congrats on pa__sing your glucose test! You too austynsmommy! I'll see next week.... babee - I am measuring just slightly behind too - at 26 weeks, I was measuring 24cms. My doc said that as long as you are the week you are + or - 3 cms, then you are perfectly fine. And, she did tell me that it is not a good indicator of the baby's size. My mom agreed. She said that she wasn't that big with me, but I was 2 weeks early and 8 lbs. E - I'm glad you are feeling better. Yuck, being sick right now does not sound fun at all :( Hey, are any of you girls getting a flu shot? I got one the other day (my doc recommended it). Also, anyone have their showers coming up? My first shower is Nov. 1st...it's early, but it'll be nice to get things early and get some stuff set-up. Well, take care!

Welcome to the newest January moms who have joined us. Isaiah--I am sorry to hear that you are not receiving much moral support during your pregnancy from your family, especially your mom. I think she will come around once your little miracle is here. ((hugs)) I had to take my glucose test this morning (yuck) will find out the results next week. I am still measuring ahead (by 4 cm) and the baby was measuring big on my u/s on Monday...looks like we are having a big boy. He is breech..we are hoping he will move head down. Have a wonderful weekend!

eek, 10 weeks, going to fly by so quickly!!!
i did my glucose test on sat, hope to hear the results soon. the drink didn't taste bad but lab corp left a bad taste in my mouth. the receptionist was rude and i lost my cool and nearly stormed out. i waited 45 minutes in the waiting room just for her to tell me i was 'lucky', that another 15 min and they wouldn't have let me do the test b/c they closed at noon and it was 10:45 - as if i'd 'just' walked in as opposed to sitting in front of them the last 45 minutes. it didn't help that i was tired and starving and dizzy. i chugged the drink down in less than 2 minutes.
my ob said they'd test my blood for anemia too, i've been super tired lately, but i didn't see that on the lab form. anyone else getting this done?
also, anyone else avoiding going out in public? i get so irritated w/crowds these days, plus more tired than usual and feel vulnerable going out by myself. with someone else its ok. i'm just very conscious of the fact that i can't really defend myself if attacked at my current size, and i can't run away too well either.
i have my baby shower on nov 29. !!! looking forward to it, but having a hard time picking stuff to add to the registry.
what is the measuring thing? my ob measured my belly during the last visit but she didn't tell me how to do it at home, or what it means or anything... i also didn't get a video when i went for my ultrasound, only printouts - didn't learn about the video option til recently from other ppl.

Good afternoon! FYI ~ I just learned this today ~ pregnant women are eligible to vote absentee in some US states. Could be a good way to avoid the discomforts of standing in line next Tuesday!
So in KY, if you're in your third trimester, you can vote in person at the voting office using their voting machine, during the days they take absentee votes. Not sure what those days are.
In VA, if you want to vote by mail, you have to get your application in by end of day today. They then send you a ballot. Or you can vote in person any time before this Saturday, by going to the office. The rules don't specify a trimester; it just says "if you're unable to go on election day... because of pregnancy".
Happy Tuesday!

I am new to this site and am 29 weeks pregnant, due Jan 16th same as "Kimmer23" :)
I have to agree with some of you about the La Leche League groups. I have already registered for b___stfeeding cla__ses elsewehre but I plan to attend the La Leche League and if I see it worth while I'll cancel the b___stfeeding cla__s that I have registered for and save some money :)
I had a question for the mommy-2-bs : I still have not bought any of the baby stuffs. Finding a hard time deciding between whats. Should I buy a crib or a ba__sinett? Should a buy a 2 in one car seat or just a rear-facing car seat? etc... Is there anyone who has a registery that I could sneak peek into for some ideas?
By the way Congratulation to all!

mommy 2be----i am due on Jan 5th, but am pretty sure she is coming alot sooner. With my 1st I bought a crib and a pack-n play with the ba__sinett included that I put beside my bed...they grow out of the ba__sinett so fast you'll be getting rid of it in 3 months tops....plus with the pack i know i used it traveling and throughout the 1st year....also with the 2-in one i'm not sure if they make those that come in the travel sets so you might have to take the baby out to put it in the stroller....hope i helped some..........

Hey girls! So, I took my glucose challenge test earlier this week and got the results today - I pa__sed, so no worries about that. yay! I also had my Rhogam shot today, so no more shots or blood draws for a while now :) I'll be 29 weeks tomorrow. And, now I'm measuring right on, instead of 1-2 weeks behind, so I caught-up too. mommy2be - I don't have other kids, but I registered for a pack and play and was planning on using the ba__sinet part for the first coup[le of months before moving to a crib. And, I also decided to get both kinds of car seats. I want an infant car seat to go with the travel system I got (stroller/car seat combo). But, I figure I should get a bigger one too, so I registered for that too. How is everyone feeling? I'm good...my back is starting to hurt some. Also, I think the nesting instinct has kicked in...I've been a claening machine lately :) Take care.

Hi Kimmer! I'm glad to hear that your glucose test went well. What's the next step with your RH? Do you need another shot during labour and delivery? Mommy2B, you'd probably be best getting both a crib and a ba__sinet, as they grow out of the ba__sinet really quickly. With my son, I'd always a__sumed that he'd sleep in his ba__sinet with us until he was about 3 months old, but babies can be extremely noisy!!! After about 2 weeks, we put him in his crib in his room, because he was stretching at all hours, and sound a lot like a really loud wild animal. We were sleep-deprived enough as it was, so we really need the precious few hours that we were getting! In terms of the car seat, it's really handy to use a stroller that comes with an infant carrier, because it just plops right into the car, and then right into the stroller (or shopping cart) when you get out of the car. I hope everyone's doing well!

Kimmer, congrats on the glucose test! It's such a relief, isn't it? Okay, so I have a question for you ladies. Does it drive you ABSOLUTELY CRAZY when somebody asks how much longer you have to go, and when you tell them, they reply with, "Wow, you still have a long way to go!" It irritates the c___p out of me for some reason. I feel like I've been pregnant now for like 3 years, I've got less than 10 weeks to go, and you're telling me I've still got a long way to go. It just makes me feel so frustrated. Am I being hormonal?
