Not necessarily as soon as you have contractions 5 mins apart for a few hours then I'd say it's time....or at least time to go get checked. ok you guys I haven't griped about my mother in law for while - but she is driving me nuts!!! I knew I shouldn't have told her I was dilated or effaced she is all worried because my father is law is taking their ONE cell phone on a trip and she is going to be going to quiliting cla__s and she just wanted to check in ...I said it's ok I am not having contractions....no worries then she hinted that maybe we could add a phone to our cell phone plan and then give it to Tristan --ummm no because after I have the baby she isn't going to want to pay the 10 bucks a month and Tristan is 9 yrs old and not getting a cell phone anytime soon give me a break she is so stupid sometimes yeah right even if we give him a phone when he's 12 that's 360.00 over the 3 years that no one is going to be using it! ARRGGGHHH why doesn't she use her brain! they can afford to add a line to their plan but since it will cost them 30.00 a monthshe want us to do it? well boo hoo....how bad do you want a phone ...she wouldn't be the first person I called anyway - ok enough about that...LOLOL

Ahhh, I'm excited but haven't been in a hurry really until I read this on this site: Ready to Go Your baby is now probably over the seven pound mark and can hardly move inside the uterus. The lungs are also nearly fully developed and functional. The umbilical cord that carried nutrients from the placenta to your baby is now 20 inches long (50 centimeters) and is a half-inch (1.3 centimeters) thick. Because your baby weighs about 7 pounds (3288 grams) and consumes all of the space in your uterus, it's common for the umbilical cord to become knotted or wrapped around him. Most of the vernix that covered your baby's skin has disappeared, as well as the lanugo. Your body begins to supply the baby with antibodies through the placenta that will help the baby's immune system fight infection for the first 6 months of life. ******************Now, it seems to nonchalantly say that it is COMMON for the cord to become knotted or wrapped around the baby at this time??????? I about had a heart attack when I read that. Is this true? Of course me, the worry wart, started hoping she comes before then just because of what i read. geeeeez! This is from this website if you go to pregnancy and then week by week....it is for WEEK 39 which we are not at yet, but I was just reading/browsing. AGH!

JULIA, I read that about the contractions here on this site. It's not in the Forum, but go under "Topcs' here to the left and select "Pregnancy", it was up at the top under Week by week or something like that. I'm just playing around on here as I never read much other than the forum. TINA, hell I'd get that mixed up too on the contractions! top to bottom, bottom to top, same difference, lol :) I haven't been feeling anything like that I dont' think so I'm just hangin out.

have u guys experience that though.. a pulse kinda cramp feeling on your lower back.. ??? is there such thing as back contractions?

ceecee_fields - June 12

Cors and Stef- Thanks so much for the information. I actually called my doctor and she said the same thing, so you ladies are on point. Thank you. I want to see my baby, I mean I keep picturing this tiny person in my belly. Not this big huge baby that I know will come out of me. It's so mind b__wing. I was wondering about the contractions too, so thanks for answering that.

sashasmama - June 12

STEF, OMG, great, one more thing to worry even more about. I was already thinking about that, I have an ultrasound tomorrow and was going to ask the tech if she can see where the cord is and if there are any knots or other "problems" with it. My daughter had it over her shoulder, it took me 3 hours of pushing to get her out, without any pain relief, it was terrible :( I'm hoping for an easier exit this time, hahaha.

hey everyone I finally got to sleep last night at like 1 am. Yesterday was horrible, I feel better today. the pain isn't as bad thank god. I asked my grandma if there was anything I could do for the pain she said unfortunatly not...and she told me that the reason my hips are hurtin so bad is because Brooklynn is probably dropping a lot. which you can tell in the pics anyway...She was an OB nurse before she retired so she is a lot of help. Presious my grandma said that a lot of women go through back labor first, before actual labor I think thats what she said....hope that helps. I have an appointment tomorrow I can't wait! I want to see if I've progressed any I sure hope so.

luckymenm23 - June 12

Silly question.. When does your baby drop?? When she wants? is there something i need to do to make her drop?? does she need to drop for me to go into labor?? I know i still have time im just curious

cors1wfe - June 12

STEF - girl I swear if you don't quit looking for trouble I am going to fly to Missouri and get you! LOL .....girls my last son was born with the cord around his neck - towards the end when it was time to push his heart rate dropped with each contraction and then recovered that's how the midwife knew the cord was around his neck - it was not the end of the world - lots of babies are born with cords around the neck - I had to lie on my left side for the rest of my labor and they gave me oxygen and by common I am sure the website is not referring to cord incident deaths like we have seen posted here on this forum.....STEF STAY OFF THE NET!!! You are only freaking yourself out.....the longer a baby bakes the better! CHARLI - My hips have been killing me for 3 days straight I am sure it's my pelvis spreading and ,Megan making her way down....HILLARY most babies drop on their own and if you feel you haven't dropped google exercises to bring the baby down....there are some stretches you can do to try to help her drop but some women don't drop until they go into labor especially after your first baby...I just seem to always feel like I have been hit by a truck - i wake up very stiff in my hips ....it's awful but walking around does help.....Yes JULIA CHARLI is right you can have back labor before you have real contractions I had back labor with my last delivery and it was very uncomfortable but the epidural did take the edge off - ok girls I think I am going to take a nap and relax a bit before I finish my chores

cors1wfe - June 12

bump geeez is everyone napping??? LOL

sashasmama - June 12

Tina, so does lightening occur when labor starts with your second or subsequent pregnancies??? My daughter dropped 2 weeks before I went into labor and now it seems like my belly is a lot lower too than it was two days ago, but I keep reading everywhere that it's not supposed to happen in second pregnancies. Maybe it's just my imagination...geez and I'm just today 36 weeks, I don't know how I'm going to wait till 40...it's dragging.

cors1wfe - June 12

Sashasmama - would you mind telling me your name? If you have before I apologize I sure dont' remember it...LOL preggo brain and all....I have read that you may not drop with 2nd and subsequent pregnancies but I have dropped so I am not sure where they get that statistic from but just like everything else in pregnancy you find conflicting reports all over the place....I know I have dropped and another friend of mine who had her baby in March she definitely dropped as well so ....it's hard to tell.....as far as waiting I am right there with you I am only being patient until my parents get here then who knows?? I will be so happy to have them here with me again .....I think since I know that I know that I know this is the last baby I am having I am just savoring my time - I am off work and I have been resting alot......when I can't sleep it's not a big deal because I know I will be able to take a nap.....I have another baby shower Saturday but I anticipate there only being a few ladies but that's ok there will be good food there.....

stefkay - June 12

Hey! Well, I'm getting so excited for my appt. tomorrow! 37 weeks -- full term! wooohoooo!!! I think we are going to start having s_x this next week...I'm thinking it will be very uncomfortable, but maybe try it a few times to see what it does? I haven't done squat about walking like I planned. I'm just too tired to get out and do it even on the treadmill, lol. Well, I'm beat so I think I am going to go to bed but I'll be on early...night girls!

samantha_2629 - June 12

I tried looking up exercises to help the baby drop but I didn't find much. The most common thing I found was basically walking and an exercise ball. When is it common for the baby to drop? I'm 34 weeks. Is it too soon for her to drop...it would help out alot! lol I have so much trouble breathing and have TERRIBLE heart burn

cors1wfe - June 13

Samantha - I think babies usually drop around 36 weeks or later .....I carried very well this time around only had minor heartburn I do get winded pretty often but not too too bad but I did notice that people started noticing and commenting on how I had dropped once I started sitting on my yoga ball so there might be something to that ......they yoga b___s are about 15.00 at walmart just for the ball they have ones they sell with videos and such but you don't really need those if you just want it for relief.....Hope that helps
