Marginal Previa And Vaginal Birth

How far does the placenta need to be from the cervix to attempt an va___al birth, I was told at 22 weeks that I had a low lying placenta and now at 32 weeks there has been no shift and from the internal ultrasound I was told that the placenta is 5-8mm from the cervix. The baby is also transverse and has been for the last month, which I understand happens very often with a low placenta because they don't have room to get their head down. The doctors keep saying that I don't need to think about c-sections, but everything I keep reading is pointing in that direction.

but everything I keep reading is pointing in that direction.
