i went to my doctor today for my 8 month checkup and she told me no s_x and to slow down b/c my cervix is measuring short. what! i am freaking out now as she said it could be a sign of premature labor. i still have about 5 weeks to go and do not want to go early! my cervix measurement is 2.2cm. i dont know what this means but thought maybe someone might know. please any info would be appreicated as i am so nervous now! thanks

I am currently almost 32 weeks pregnant. I've been in the hospital for the past 5 weeks and on bedrest the past 8 due to incompetent cervix which is a shortened cervix as well as bulging membranes (baby's bag of water is way low). The good news is that you only have 5 more weeks. From the beginning, my MDs just wanted me to make it to 28 weeks. Now that I'm almost 32, they're ecstatic. I have a cerclage (stictch placed in my cervix to keep it closed) which will come out week 36. My MDs are confident if I deliver anytime after 36. So, rest and keep your feet up. To make it to at least 36 weeks is a wonderful milestone, and baby can still be perfectly fine. Take it easy and try not to constantly walk around. You should be fine. Good luck to you!!! BTW-my cervical length measured 0.68cm during the last check-up prior to being hospitalized (week 26). 2.2cm is short but still okay...
