This is my first baby but from all the stories that I have heard first hand from moms of 3 or 4, they say that they've had bloody show with their mucous plug. This concerns me because I have been having yellowish green slimy discharge and these moms say it could just be regular discharge from the cervix. I am 36 weeks now and have been having these little discharges for about 2 weeks. Anyone have advice on this? Has this happened to anyone?

I lost my mucous plug this morning. I envy all the women who have a clear discharge. Mine was brownish red and ropey - it looked like intestines, almost, just not as thick. I was totally surprised, because I expected something that looked like a shiny pink cork. I had no idea what it was - I agree with the nbp (11/29/04) who described it as a huge ball of nastyness. Yes, it is entirely entirely gross, like a terrifying bit of biohazard material that has emerged from your most intimate of intimates. I freaked - called the doctor's office. I'm only 35 weeks (34w 6d) and my boy isn't due until July 1. I'm hoping he can hold on another 2 weeks or more.
Be prepared, because it certainly takes a woman by surprise to see that horror staring up at you from the bowl. All I could think was "oh my gawd, that came out of my BODY!?!?!"

Your mucus plug and bloody show are actually different. If you have loss of mucus plug, with no colour in it, you could be a couple weeks away still. But bloody show, mucus with brown, red or pink in it.. you will usually have the baby within 72 hours. Of course every woman is different. but this is average for a normal pregnancy.

Hi I am 1 day away from 39 weeks I have been losing my mucus plug for weeks now so it doesnt mean labor is going to start soon at first it was clear then it was like a yellowish color today I had some blood tinged in it so any day now. I feel like a complete idiot ive been to the hospital twice already in false labor last night I was there until 1am and only 3cm dilated and 80% effaced good luck to all the women playing the waiting game like me....to all the women that have been showing mucus w/o being pregnant thats not good you need to go see a doctor its supposed to be some kind of condition

like nathalie my son is also due on july first and i just lost my plug. My midwife said that its pretty rare not to deliver any later than 2 weeks after you lose your plug. Delivery can happen anywhere from 24 hours to 2 weeks from the time you lose it. I was told that if i did indeed start to go into labor that they wouldnt try to stop him from being born... that his lungs should operate on their own. Ironically enough i lost mine about 30 minutes before i had a doctors appointment. I explained to them that i pa__sed something that just looked like a huge snot ball and they said sure enough.... its your plug!!! Ive had mild contractions since i lost the plug. Sometimes they are 5 minutes apart, other times they are two hours apart. I will keep you posted.

My doctor stripped my membranes on tuesday, last night I think I lost my plug but Im not sure. It was really thick and had a pinkish tint. There was a lot of it. This is my first pregnancy so I don't know what to expect. I didn't know if this had something to do with my dr. stripping my membranes, it it was my mucous plug or what. Any one have a clue?

I had lots of what seemed like regular v____al discharge, just in huge quant_ties, start coming out when I was 36 weeks. The same day it turned into a gelatinous discharge with red tinges. My doctor said I had lost my mucous plug and I have been on bedrest for 3 days now. I have had a continuous flow of what seems like normal discharge, just in ma__sive amounts. I have also been having lots of painless braxton-hicks ctx.

QUESTION! can your dr. tell you lost your mucus plug? how? i saw big glops of gellatony mucus yesterday coming out of me, that i have never seen or had before, and went to the hospital, and they did an internal exam and said iam fine. how do they see it? is it obvious that they can feel to know i didn't lose it, cause it certainly seems like i did. thanks, mandee

Losing your mucus plug does not mean you need to go to the hospital or that you are in labor. It can take several days after or weeks after take it from me I started losing mine way early luckily I have my baby already be patient im telling you, you get more sleep this way.
