You can lost your mucous plug in pieces. Im 38 weeks with my second and lost a large amount last night and this morning. It was not tinged but was clear. I am not in labor right now. With my first I lost some of it a few weeks before I had her and lost the tinged part hours before I went into labor. I hope this helps. Reminder do not call your midwife or dr when you lose your MP its not a sure sign of labor, it is however a sign that your cervix is thinning and or dilating. good luck

Some mucous plugs have a pink tint to them and other have a brown tint. This sounds gross, but it will be a "snotty" substance...you'll know it when you see it!

I just got off birth control to try to conceive about 1 month ago. My period is due within 7-14 days ( I am irregular) but I have a thick clear discharge sometimes tinted brown. Could I be pregnant? Is this a sign? I HOPE SO~!!!!

I believe it is different for everyone. I am 33 having my 4th baby here soon and every time it has always been clear/white and stringy and it gets heavier and sometimes was blood tinged. My best suggestion is to wear a thin maxi in case you are out somewhere, at work or just at home. Wearing the pad will also help in case your water breaks, it will prevent you from having to change your entire wardrobe. Losing your mucous plug may be a little gross but you know that it is your body preparing itself for labor. It is my understanding that the mucous plug is what "plugged out" any bacteria, etc from getting near the baby while it was growing. Just because you lose your mucous plug doesn't mean you'll necessarily be headed to the hospital in the next few hours. Trust me, I have done this 3 times, when you get your first real contraction YOU WILL DEFINITELY KNOW IT. Good luck to all of you and your upcoming bundles of joy!

I'm 35wks5days and found something in the toilet bowl this morning. It was about a tablespoon ful of gelatine, uniform yellow/green colour, no blood whatsoever, as someone described like nasty snot. Got no midwife currently so don't know what to do???

Michelle - July 30

I'm almost 37 weeks and I've been having a gelatenous discharge the past couple of days. It's white/yellowish - similar to what you b__w out of your nose when you have a cold. I'm glad I found this site with the description of what MP discharge might look like. Now it's time to play the waiting game.

i am 37 weeks now and i am having a lot of drainage. could it be my mucous plug? it is a kind of green and yellowish color?

sheryl - August 2

i was told through my prenatal cla__ses that the mucous plug can be anywhere from a yellow-greenish tinge to a pinkish brown? I think i have lost mine slowly but it was a yellowish greenish colour. I called telehealth and they told me green is a sign of infection. help anyone?

hi im 38 weeks pregnant, and ive been getting abit of discharge for a while then two nites ago i had a clear blob of jelly like stuff come out then some bright red blood. i take it this is my mucus plug and show. does this mean i could go in to labour sn?????

Mia - August 4

I am in my fourth pregnancy and i have never lost a blood stained show. For a lot of people, and myself, it appears as a discharge with the consistency of jelly and can be clear or creamy. Also you may notice this weeks prior to your actual labour. x Mia
