Had Spotting Around Expected Period Now 24 Days Late

Hello all. I'm having some questions about my cycle. I stopped my BC in Jan 2013 after being on it for 10 months because I didn't have a period for the last 3 months. I had a normal period on 2/14 & another on 3/22 (my cycles are slightly longer when off BC) and expected my next on/around 4/26. on 4/28 I had this mucous-like glob of white discharge with a streak of brown in the middle. I figured my period would start but it never came. I'm now 23 days late and I haven't done a HPT in a week (they were negative before). I started having strong pms symptoms about a week or so before my expected period on 4/26 that eased up slightly about a week ago. I still have irritability, backaches, headaches, fatigue, nausea, sore br___ts, and random cramping. Today I randomly decided to do an opk and it came out almost positive. I'm talking a line like I'm about to ovulate or just ovulated but I don't feel at all like I usually do when I ovulate. I suppose it's possible that I am just now ovulating & time will tell, but I find it odd that I test out of nowhere and I catch my surge. And why would I be having symptoms for so long?? Thank you for taking time to read, I'm just looking for any advice or help that is offered to giving me a better understanding of what might be going on. I appreciate it in advance! :)

Aeriea: Could you have had a contraceptive malfunction around 4/12 or are you trying to conceive? Some pregnancies do not show a positive hpt until two weeks late, and a very few even later. Test once a week. If you can't get a positive by the time your next period is due and it still does not show then it will be time to ask the doc about other reasons for your PMS signs - a cyst maybe. GL!

My bf and I are aren't trying or preventing since I got off BC. As a small update, I've had some brown spotting today so maybe my period is on it's way after all. I'm going to test in the morning anyway, just to be sure. Thank you for sharing your thoughts :)
