My son was just born 7 days ago (same mom from "feeding amount" question) And a second baby shower was planned for other family members who were not able to attend the first one. The shower is planned for June 5th. Here are my questions: the house that the shower will be held at owns a lot of cats. they will be locked in the bedroom, but fur and stuff will still be all over the house. Is it ok to have the baby around that stuff? (when ur pregnant, your not supposed to be around cats) and also, is June 5th too early? Im not planning on alot of people handling my baby.

I wouldn't worry about it. Its not that you aren't supposed to be around cats when you are pregnant, its that you don't want to come into contact with their feces. That is where the toxoplasmosis comes from. I have 4 house cats, am 5 months pregnant, and I'm not worried about it at all - but my husband takes care of the litter boxes. I know many people with house cats and babies and no problems. As far as it goes, house-only cats are the least likely to transmit toxoplasmosis, since it is something that is acquired from eating rodents and contact with other cats. An indoor/outdoor cat is slightly higher risk. If you are worried, research it on google. I did, and it made me feel a lot better. I do take standard precautions, wash my hands frequently, and always before I eat anything.
