Hi moms. I have got a sick lil guy. He is 7wks today. At his 7am feeding he was getting stuffy. He was snorting and sniffling and hard to breath. He got so much air. When I burped him it sounded like his guts came out. He is a br___tfed baby. He has no fever. I cant get anything out when I use the bulb syringe. I listened to his chest and it sounds pretty clear. It is like all in his nose or sinus. Any suggestions on what to do. I was told to use a humidifier and saline nose drops> THANKS!!!!!! I hate it because he cries and when he tries to eat he cant breath BREAKS MY HEART!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sounds like you are doing everything you are suppose to do. Dont lay him down flat....try putting him in his car seat. My son had the same thing it took a while but he got better. Just keep using the saline and syringe and humidifier both those and having him on incline will really help.

My son was doing this a couple of weeks ago he is also 7 wks. It sounded like he couldn't breath as well. I couldn't get anything out with the syringe either. I had to take to the doctor for his one month check anyway and doctor said everything was fine. He said sometimes they just get this way from the dry heat. He said to use a cool mist humidifier and saline nose drops and the bulb syringe. My son was better the next day. It only happned for 2 nights while he was asleep. I also let him sleep in his bouncy seat it seemed like he could breath better propped up. It wasn't a cold though. It was strange it just went away.

THANKS!!!!! I am a first time mommy and just a little worried. We keep our central heat set on 75 put it never comes on. We use those gas logs and it stays about 76 in there that heat from logs may be affecting him

I would try the nasal drops. Good question on th gas logs and dry heat!!!!

Sounds like your doing everything right try the gerber menthol bath stuff at bath time it really helps clear their small noses out just add alittle to the bath water and keep using the saline.Try and keep him elevated even when he sleeps good luck i know it's awful.

Zack's mom - December 3

Hi Dawn. I was like you when Zack was still new... The bulb syringe was the worst for me and I hate using it. The funny thing is this only happens at night and early in the morning for me. I have another method that I used and I hope this helps..... Take baby and feeding bottle to your bathroom. Turn on the shower to the hottest until bathroom is steamy. You don't have to get in and you can close the shower curtain so that your floor won't get wet. It is also ok to turn on the bathroom ventilator so that your smoke detector won't turn off. Close the door and keep the steam in. This will help baby's nose to clear up. I used to have a chair in the bathroom for me to seat and feed Zack. This is the best painless method for me so far. The stuffy nose won't last long. When Zack is about 2 months old, I found that he does not have it anymore. Good luck!

thanks for the advice. I will let you all know how we get through the night

Amaya's mommy aka Stephanie - December 3

They make vicks vapor rub for babies, and they also make vapor patches (they smell like cherries!) that you can put on their backs. We use them on Amaya when she is alittle stuffy at night and by the morning she is all clear.
