For me, my water had already broken so they put me on IV fluids and gave me oxytocin. Took a while to work and they ended up thinking that it wasn't working because I wasn't complaining about the contractions. They shot me so full of oxytocin that I was only in labor for 3 hours and they were totally unprepared when I was 10cm because they thought I'd be in labor for another 8 hours or so... it was all quite funny now that I look back on it but I really thought the pain would be a lot worse so this time I know to compain earlier!

I was induced a week early b/c I had the GBS infection.. and my dr wanted to treat me with antibiotics prior to labor.. It was awful... I was induced at 8pm and wasn't dialated until 7am the next day.. and by that time I was so tired and drugged up, I couldn't push.. and had to have a c-section.. Had I known, I would've just had the C-section to begin with!!!

Well, this is my first baby aswell, however they are talking about inducing my next fri (25) because I don't have a spleen, and when we disgussed it they said if i am atleast 3 cm they will try breaking my waters. If that doesn't kick it off in an hourish then they will feed me pitossin through an IV.

I was induced with both of my children. With my 1st I was admitted to the hospital and given Cervadil (inserted like a tampon up against the cervix, it doesn't hurt) the night before the induction. That morning I recieved a Pitocin IV and it took about 4 hours before my 1st contraction hit, after that I was holding a baby within 3 hours. Went from 2cm to 10cm in 30 min and pushed twice and was in hard labor for 2 hours. My second went the same, except I didn't need the Cervadil. Both were short labors (3 hrs) and a few minutes of pushing.. so over all it wasn't bad. i didn't like having to wear the monitors the WHOLE time though.
