I'm 38 weeks and was supposed to be induced around this time, due to kidney stones i've had since before I even got pregnant. Well, I stopped having all the kidney infections after the first four months thankfully and now I've just got the normal aches and pains. My doctor said it's up to me if I want to induce because there is risk to my kidneys with the large sone in there. I had my last pregnancy induced, and I did it without pain meds, but it was a very long process (28hrs-12 hours on cervadil, plus pitocin eventually maxed out until she broke my water). Well I told her this time I want to be able to go IV free and have intermittent monitoring for the baby... so that means no pitocin. I have been dilated 3cm and 50% effaced for over two weeks, and I lost my mucus plug a month ago on Monday. I need to be at least 4cm before she'll break my water and let me do it naturally, and I just haven't seemed to have gotten very far lately. What is the best way to try and get labor going naturally? My doc is going out of town next week so she won't strip my membranes until she gets back, which is a week and a half from now!!!

I've been told s_x, s_x and more s_x. It hasn't worked for me though:( If not you can try walking as that is meant to kickstart labour sometimes. I had my membranes swept yesterday and it didn't work for me but with a bit of luck it might for you.Castor oil is another thing you could try but it's not recommended by everyone. Some people say it works and some people say it doesnt and all you get is an upset tummy at the end of it. I suppose unless baby is ready to come out it's just not gonna happen.... Good luck though. I hope you get the natural birth you want.
