I would not do the Caster Oil at all because if your if body or the baby are not ready you could end up in a dangerous situation. I know because a few days ago I tried it, I am 38 wks, 4 cm and 50% instead of having a baby I ended up sick dehydrated and they could not get an IV started on me without a special nurse coming from the PEDS floor to get the stick on me. I think I can wait this out until the baby is ready.

Hi everyone, i am 36 weeks today and will be moving home in the next month. I would really love to have the baby before I move but am afraid of taking caster oil before my due date. My sister took it on both her children without problems but she was 40 weeks plus. This is my first pregnancy and i'm scared that if I do take caster oil a little early to bring on labour that the baby could have breathing difficulties and it would be my fault - what do you all think?

Theresa, I would talk to your doctor. I might deliver early (hope not) and I've been reading about such deliveries. It still could be risky.

I had my second baby early at 36 weeks and she was fine but she came early naturally. After what I went through recently taking caster oil and had friend try it with her baby ending up having a bowel movement because of it I would not do it. If this is your first baby let nature do the work for you when your body and baby are both ready. Don't rush it because being induced is not the most fun. The drugs they give you make your contractions very uncomfortable. I can say this my daughter was born at 36 weeks because my exhusband and I moved from Virgina back home to Texas. The stress of the move and preparing for it might push you naturally into labor.

Thanks for your replies, I know you are right I should just let the baby come when she is ready (even though it is killing me to wait, and the move will be a nightmare if the baby hasn't come). I'm seeing my midwife on Friday anyway so i'll have a chat with her about it. Good luck to everyone else! T x
