I am 39 weeks pregnant and just counting the days till I have my baby. However, I am soooooo incredibly scared of delivery. I don't know what to expect. I mean, I have read a ton of information, as well as watched alot of videos. And yet I am still so unsure of how things are going to go. As we all are goign in really. Or if there will be complications, because I have had so many throughtout the pregnancy. I am just really scared. I don't know about the pain tolerance. If anyone has any words of wisdom or any advice on how to make this wait for the pain any easier, please help me!

I have suggestions, #1 STOP watching baby shows, they don't usually show the normal, good deliveries, that would not be enough drama for a show. #2 The expectation of PAIN will make it a reality. #3 Ask to Labor Down if you are at 10 cm and do not feel the urge to push and the both of you are tolerating labor well. Let the contractions do the work of moving your baby down instead of pushing right away. This molds the baby's head better, reduces the risk of tearing and you don't get tired from pushing longer than you have to. This works best if you have had an epidural, but many mothers do it without one as well. The best births I have seen used laboring down. Do a search for my post ent_tled "Some advice for a well-managed delivery". Best of luck to you on a safe delivery and a healthy baby!

well, if youre planning on not getting an epidural, id thoroughly recommend the tub - it was beyond fantastic when i was in labor the first time. and djh is right...try not to think about the pain too much, what will happen, will happen...and there WILL be an end! On another note, I labored down, then pushed twice, and he was out with no tearing and an immediate recovery for mum and bub. thats why im trying it all again in a couple of weeks. good luck!

All my labours were different. My first I didn't even register I was in labour but due to prior complications I went into the hospital to get checked only to be told I was 6cms and my waters had gone. The second was a complete nightmare and I don't want to scare you but if he had been my first there wouldn't have been another one! My third was an induction and again a very easy labour. I used one shot of pethidine with my first nothing with the second and gas and air with my third. Good luck. If you work yourself up the pain wil fell a lot worse than it actually is.
