I am schedualed to be induced this weekend (12-30-06) My due date was 12-22-06. I am going to get some progesterone (spelling?) gel inserted on satruday night and then full induction the next day if needed. I am very nervous and was hoping to go into labor on my own and have everything be all natural. (so if you know any good tricks do tell) I had my membranes stripped on wendsday....My question is: I heard that you cannot get out of bed and move around get in the shower ect if you are induced. Those are totally things that are super important to me, I really dont want to be confined to a bed....Does anyone know if this is true?

I was induced with both of mine and unfortunatley that is true. I had to be strapped to monitors and could not even go to the bathroom w/out letting a nurse know I needed them unhooked. The good news is my labor went super fast (3 hrs w/ both) although I am not sure if it was due to the pitocin or not. I know it's disappointing, but goodluck!

When I was induced with my dd they did require that I stay in bed or right next to it. I am pretty sure this is because of the pitocin and the need for constant fetal/mother monitoring to make sure both are handing the contractions well. Like you I had wanted to shower and walk around. I had also wanted to avoid pain relief but the pitocin really made that difficult. In the end I asked for the epidural about 3hours in(got it at the 4 hour mark) and delivered less than an hour after that . It was not the delivery I had dreamed of but in the end I was very satisfied. I am 30 weeks now with my second and not worried at all if I have to be induced again. Good luck, it will be worth it when you hold your baby!

I was induced with my first and had to have pitocin with my second and both times I was allowed to walk around and get in the whirlpool tub, so perhaps it depends on the doctor. They just told me to tell them if I felt funny or like I needed to push or anything. I have to be induced 2 weeks early with this one #3 because of the size of my children first one was 8lb10oz second was 10lb2oz. I am not looking forward to it.

Thank you ladies sooo much! I am going to call my Dr today to see what her feelings are about induction and the later laboring. I am still very nervous about it but I try to think more about my cute little baby that I will FINALLY get to meet. Has anyone else ever used a b___st pump to get things started? I have read alot about it and it seems to work, and is a more natural way to get things going. Thanks again!

im sure you have had ur baby by now... but i was induce with baby #3 and honestly if i could do it again i would. All i got was the chemicla string inserte din me, i was bale to walk and do as i wanted as long as i was near the nurses station. My labour started 8 hours after being induced, and i had and hour of hard contractions, two pushes and she was out. I couldnt get over how easy it really was!! =)
