My Rights Or Breech Munipulation

Hi, I'm 33 weeks and counting and was told my baby may be in a breech position. My Doctor told me if this continues she can try and munipulate the baby to a correct head down position.. This kinda freaks me out! I do have the right to refuse don't I ? I've tried to do some research on this proceedure. It's called External Cephalic Version (ECV) There are pro's and con's.. I have had 3 other children prior to this one. I'm 43 and have been told I have fibroids. As of yet I don't know if the fibroids have grown along with the baby. Has anybody ever heard of this and had this proceedure done? To be pefrectly honest at this point I'd rather have a C-section. Thank You for your feed back. P.S. I also know that the baby still can turn. However, I have been diagnosed with gestationa diabeties! This makes for a bigger baby! Kyrie

Kyrie, I am in my 34th week and will be going to my doctors this tuesday. Hopefully they will tell me if baby is head down, but if he isnt i wouldnt opt for them to try to turn him..if he turns, he turns...if not c-section it is! Its your body and your baby, whatever you feel is best is what you should do. Of course you have the right to refuse! Good luck :)

In your case I would also preffer a c-sec...its your body and its your baby..try talking to the doctor about it and see what they think..thell them you don't want to have the (ECV) procedure done..Good Luck. :)

hi Kyrie - October 2

I had a procedure that sounds like this done. I am not sure what the medical termwas, but some woman with long fingers came in and tried to turn my baby who was in an anterior breech position. It wasn't painful at all but I did have an epidural before. I don't believe it was toatally succesfull, becasue my labor was still stalled. I was given a choice between a vacuum a__sisted delivery or a c section. I took the vac delivery. I am told that my baby had a cone head for a few days. I never saw this. My suggestion would be to do all you can before agreeing to a c-section. It is major surgery and te recovery time is longer than a vag delivery. I am sure you know all of that though. Bestof luck to you!
