How long did you have period like cramps and irregular contractions before you started to have regular contractions or before your water broke?????

anyone??

Well J... I have been having contractions that feel exactly like menstrual cramps, except worse, since 32 weeks. I get the every day and at night time they get a lot worse. I have been to the hospital twice because they got regular. Once they even got down to 3 minutes apart for several hours.. only to be sent home from the hospital because they weren't causing my cervix to change. I hope this helps... and GOD I HOPE you aren't experiencing the same becuase it can make you VERY anxiouis, irritable, and tired to be up every other night counting contractions and thinking THIS is the time. With my son, they starte 3 or 4 days before my actual labor began...so I guess it all depends. Good luck!

Sabrina i have been experienceing the same thing!!I dont want to go to the hospital everytime because i live so far away but i have been in some real pain for the last 3 days and nights. Now my whole belly is sore to the touch and i have had diarreha and vomiting today and even pa__sed a few small blood clots. I called my doctor and he said that it is all normal. But i feel like something is wrong. I want to get a second opinion but my insurance wont pay for it.Plus im high risk so im really stressing now.

How far along are you? I too, have heard that a small amount of blood is normal, especially after an exam. -Unless there's a lot or it doesn't subside. I had consistent contractions again today that started at 10 minutes and got down to 5 minutes. I DID NOT want to go to the hospital to be sent home again. He said to lay on my left side for 2 hours, drink LOTS of fluids (dehydration can bring on contractions) and monitor the contractions. IF they get down to 3 or 4 minutes apart head to the hospital (of course I'm only 2 minutes fromt the hospital) Well I did what he said, and within an hour later my contractions had already started slowing down. That was around 5pm today.. its almost 11pm now and I'm only getting a few an hour. Perhaps this may be something you can try if your cramping is getting worse or not getting any better. This was not the first time they told me dehydration could be the cause, so drink up! It "might" not be what's causing your discomfort, but it's something that can't hurt! Another idea about the second opinion thing... you could always call the hospital and be directed to labor and delivery and ask them. I mean all they'll really do is give you their general opinion and most likely tell you to come in to be monitored "just in case", but if they too tell you something like "all that seems normal" or "as long as it's not a lot of blood I'm sure everythings okay" or SOMETHING that might give you a little added insurance. When I thought my water broke.. I called the hospital instead of my Dr because I didn't want to bother her yet AGAIN. They asked me a few things and told me they didn't think it was my water but said I should come in to have a swab test done anyways just to be sure. I felt rea__sured before I even went in to have the test that it wasn't my water that had broke. So, again, just an idea!

I think its different for everyone. I had a quick labor with my son. I first had "cramps" at about 9am, and I had him in my arms at about 4pm that night (7 hours)

miranda - July 3

my doctor says to go to labor and delivery when the contractions are five minutes apart and have been for at least an hour.

Katharine - July 4

My first labor was similar to Emmie's. Woke up with period-like cramps (3 minutes apart) at 8am and had baby at 4pm. This time, I have been having light cramps and pains in the same area, but no labor yet.

I've been cramping off and on for about 2 weeks now...i'm currently 36.2 weeks preggy....nothing is happening yet. Doc said it's Braxton Hicks getting ready for the big day and to take tylenol for the pain if needed. (not what i wanted to hear).

I am having these cramps too.. just started today and I am only 29.5 weeks so I am nervous... I have no tightening so can it still be braxton hicks?? it feels like pms, in my lower uterus and back.

AudreyJ - February 7

I am also having menstral like cramps that have not gone away for the past 5 hours and I am right at 30 weeks...everything else is fine, no bleeding, no diarhea (yet) and no vomiting. I am calling my doctor tomorrow and I am hoping she says that this is normal. I don't think they are brackston hicks because there is no "contraction" just cramping.
