Hi, i have had 2 epidurals so far, and will be having a 3rd soon, im 37 weeks. It did not hurt when they put the needle in, i did not feel it, actually, they put a numbing medication on my skin at the sight where the needle would be injected. It really helped during my labor, i was like paralyzed from the waste down, no feeling at all. I couldn't even feel the contractions, they had to tell me when to push. It was worth it. I guess it depends on the person, i hear with everyone its different. Hemmorhoids, i had those with my daughter, when your pushing out the baby, its like trying to defacate, (or go to the restroom) and the veins around the a__s becomes inflamed from the pressure of pushing, they had me take suppositories and it was fine after that. I also took warm sitz baths.

I had an epidural...the hardest part is that you cannot move while they're inserting the needle; what I did was sit on the edge of the bed, my hands on my husband's shoulders, and my forehead against his chest; it helped me to relax and hold still.
