Contractions Dialating

does anyone know if you have to have contractions to dialate? im 39 weeks pregnant and at my last check up my doc told me i wasn't dialted yet but my due date is 8/5 and i wanna know if the baby is gonna come on time, however i haven't felt any contractions or anything yet help??

Yes, you can dilate without having contractions. Do you have any cramping or pain at all? I have heard of women who have gone to appointments and been told they are 2 cm and didn't feel anything. My nurse midwife told me that she doesn't even really like checking for people because it really isn't an accurate way to know when labor will begin. Some women go from 0 to 10 in just hours! Maybe your body is just conserving energy. hope it's not too much longer! my dd is aug. 6th so I know how you are feeling right about now =)

I dont feel mime either but i know the i have them when the doctor put me on the monitor i was having lots.But im not dilated at all
